No variety at all. all his career dunks were the same. 2 handed tomahawk
how yall dime cats feel about the very last sprewell image?
hahahaha…
kudos to yall though. slam sucks
@Control - Spree was not a career loser. He was one of the best players (probably THE best player - remember Pat was out hurt I think) on that Knicks team that gave Timmy his first ring and was one of the key pick-ups on the only good Minn. team KG ever had to work with that got to the WCF. Don’t let the fact that he was/is completely bat-sh*t crazy change how you remember his actual play.
think of all the players with NO career post season success before you call them losers. SPREE was the catalyst of the 1999 (finals) - 2001 Knicks playoff teams that advanced to at least the second round. WCF with the Wolves in 2004.
Spree was defintely the most angry/violent/vicious dunker that had people scared as he came up and went down with the scowl and screaming.
@JA thats what i think of when i see a young ricky davis. i see a JR but with less range and talent.
ricky davis is the better dunker. but afro spree was my favorite.
also, that cavs team with davis, miles and dejaun wagner used to be one of the most exicting young teams when they were hoopin together
@ dime, you all just put a bunch of people on with that Spreewell video. I wonder how many people had heard of COC or L and knew how nice he and they were before watching that video.
I’m thinking of him as a loser based on how his distractions and batshit craziness fucked up shit around him more than it’s helped. The guy was an intense guy, and could score points here and there, but he was by no means a hall of famer, though there are probably some zealot NY fans who would want to see him in the HOF.
The only thing in his life he was decent at is choking people, and basketball…in every other aspect, he is a loser.
Why are we even talking about these two, can we not come up with two better to compare? Ricky gets traded every other year, and has anyone ever cared about spree…Ricky is a better dunker but who really cares…what’s next, who is the best player to never hit the court?
@ smity: I’m a huge Big L, Children of the Corner and Diggin in the Crates fan. I gotta imagine I’m not the only one here with the big NY fanbase.
@ don mega: That’s exactly what I was thinking when I saw this.
NEW DIME POLL: BEST CHOKER: LATRELL SPREWELL OR DIRK NOWITZKI? (can’t think of anyone else who’s choked as hard recently as Dirk did when the Mavs lost the title to the Heat)
It seemed like a Spree breakaway hammer was a guaranteed nightly hilite on Sportscenter when I was in high school. And whoever said it, plenty of people care about Spree. He was the most popular player on a Knicks team that went to the Finals. And Ladies Love Crazy Latrell.
Ricky hushing a half-empty Cleveland stadium sums up his career. Don’t boo me, home crowd. I can dunk!
Spree is one my all-time favorite player. That two hand signature dunk was my aspiration. He was one the angriest dunkers ever. That appealed to the kind of player I was then. He did have better dunks then that mix. I’ve seen windmills and reverses, but he loved that two hand bang from behind the head.
im not gonna dignify this with either a “choke” joke or a “ricky is to the nba, what cancer is to the human body” comment, but buckets wins, more style and variety.
Spree all day. He kills it on guys in traffic. Look at Spree on elie in the 99 finals. Spree has been on way more winning teams too. He’s a more complete player but buckets has the better jump shot. Ya’ll guys got some funny posts on here. Feed his family……
People are talking about Spree killin’ it in the lane like Ricky wasn’t dunkin’ on people! Come on, the contest is for better dunker, not for violent dunker. Just because he choked his coach doesn’t make every one of his dunks violent. Ricky Davis is clearly the better dunker. He also gets bonus points for having a couple of mid-range jumpers in the video!
they also didnt show ricky davis goin through the legs in an nba game when he played for cleveland. spree was a way better player no matta what yo opinion was he could play. but ricky got him when it comes to dunks. that tip dunk for charlotte is one of the best dunks ever. and that nash. wow i dont cuss but WOW!!!!!
SPREE all day. Comparing their careers is a joke–Sprewell has legitimate playoff success wherever he went and was a known, tough competitor who played to win. Better offensive AND defensive player. Ricky Davis was just in it for the highlights.
Had he not choked his coach he’d have so many more all-star selections under his belt, but instead the NBA refuses to mention his name due to its commercial/image-conscious nature.
