Kobe Bryant wants to play hurt, LeBron has no hometown loyalty, and who is the NBA’s hidden beast?

Kobe BryantKobe Bryant (photo. Chris Sembrot)

Good job by Kobe Bryant getting the hits on his website up. After telling everyone last week that he was going to announce the date of his pinkie finger surgery on KB24.com this week — and after Lakers fans probably spent all day Monday refreshing his site waiting for the news to break — all we got yesterday was the announcement that Kobe isn’t having surgery after all. “I have always felt that I can still focus and play at a high level even through various injuries,” Mamba wrote. “That’s really just part of the game. When the doctors told me recovery from a procedure could be 12 weeks, I just decided now was not the time to have surgery. What it really came down to for me is that I just didn’t want to miss any time ‘punching the clock’ for the Lakers, given all we are trying to accomplish as a team this NBA season. I am just really excited and looking forward to being there with the guys when camp opens in a few weeks. That is a real bonding process and if I can avoid being on the sidelines for that, God willing, I will.” … So it sounds like Kobe is preparing to go an entire 82-and-change with a bad finger (on his shooting hand, mind you) and doesn’t have any plans of going under the knife before next summer unless something strange happens and the Lakers come out of the gate like the ‘07-08 Miami Heat. Not that the finger injury had much negative impact on his last year — except for Kobe basically sitting out the All-Star Game — but do you think he’s making a mistake? We can’t really knock the guy considering he won the MVP and took his team to the Finals with his “noodle”-like digit last spring, but if he’s trying to play the hero role, it’s better to miss a little time very early in the season rather than risk re-injuring it and possibly having to sit out at a more critical juncture. Or maybe the idea of offseason surgery just brings back bad memories … The world’s slowest-moving trade this side of the Jason Kidd-to-Dallas deal added another layer: the Grizzlies reportedly adding Javaris Crittenton on top of the Darko/Marko package to get Zach Randolph and a first-round pick from the Knicks. There’s no telling what New York’s point guard situation is until they figure out what they’re doing with Stephon Marbury, but word is they’d rather have Kyle Lowry or Hakim Warrick than Crittenton … Two coaches who were alleged morons not that long ago and magically turned to geniuses this past season just got contract extensions yesterday: one being Doc Rivers (clocking $5.5 million per), the other being Mo Cheeks (details not disclosed). Funny how those two and Sam Mitchell have gone through the idiot-to-genius transformation in the eyes of the public, meanwhile Atlantic Division colleague Lawrence Frank has kind of gone the opposite way. And just wait until Mike D’Antoni gets a few games under his belt in New York and everyone realizes he’s not working with Steve Nash, Amare and Shawn Marion anymore … Cleveland Browns WR Braylon Edwards spoke on LeBron, after ‘Bron came to the Browns/Cowboys game and was going for Dallas: “As I’ve gotten to know LeBron, LeBron isn’t a Cleveland guy. LeBron only plays for the Cavaliers, and who knows if he even likes the Cavaliers? He doesn’t like the Indians. He doesn’t like the Browns. He’s a guy from Akron who likes everybody but his hometown.” Seeing as LeBron has said before that his favorite teams growing up were the Bulls, Cowboys and Yankees, it’s pretty obvious he likes winners. So maybe if the Cavs get some talent around him that will make for more wins, he’ll re-sign with them and no one will care what baseball and football team he follows. And to LeBron’s credit, he was probably gonna go to Ohio State if he’d gone to college … One silver lining of Channing Frye being out for the next couple of months is that we might get to see if Ike Diogu can actually play at the NBA level or not. It feels like we haven’t seen dude on the court for an extended period of time or in a meaningful game since Arizona State, but everyone keeps saying he’s got potential. Believe it or not, at one point Ike was — like Channing in New York — considered “untouchable” when he was with Golden State … Is it possible that Diogu is a beast waiting to happen who just hasn’t gotten a fair shot? Yesterday we looked at who could be the NBA’s version of Michael Turner; guys who have sat on the bench behind stars but are in line for a breakout season. Rodney Stuckey seems like the best bet, but one of these days Andray Blatche might fit that same description … We saw this mini-documentary on ESPN last night about players who were competing in the Homeless World Cup (soccer). Not for nothing, that could be an entertaining show if you took it to basketball … We’re out like LeBron’s Indians cap …

Blatche is softer than Kobe’s wet noodle pinkie finger.

    dos?

anyway, at least lebron’s quite honest…

…and if all falls into script, mad props to kobe for going against the flow (read: skipping camp for 65341811315138131 reasons) and going true warrior for the lake show…

and diogu… hmm… there’s LMA… that ugly kid named oden… and that hard-to-spell-swatter-turned-stiff, prz… and travis outlaw, if they go small…

    we’re out like being untouchable…

  4. atom says:

Diogu has gotten plenty of opportunities in Golden State and in Indiana. He has never been able to produce, is one, possibly two, dimensional, slow, and undersized. Ive only seen him play one solid game where he owned Rasheed, otherwise I would say he has been a complete wash.
Its not like he has a realistic chance of seeing burn now anyway. Frye’s minutes were inconsistent at best and the Blazers have only gotten more stacked in the front and back courts.

  5. C4 says:

In LeBrons basketball memory, the Browns, Cavaliers and Indians have all been bad and those teams he roots for are winners.

He probably doesn’t remember the good Cavalier teams and really, neither do I, being of the same age.

There are plenty of us who root for other teams while living in a different market, but since he is who he is, it is blown way out of porportion.

  6. Coop says:

Dime, learn to speak English. Your poll is an absolute disgrace to the Queen. ’should have went’? It’s ’should have GONE’ you imbeciles!!!

Have any of you got a degree in English or Journalism?

    Sort it out!

  7. timmy says:

can anyone actually imagine a world where Lebron$ actually went to college?

  8. Amar says:

I was thinking about the beast question, and was reminded of a young jermaine o’neal after he finally got out of portland (brian grant, rasheed, dale davis, etc) . . . he WAS a beast for a minute.

But which guy on a team right now would probably benefit the most by going to another team?

I think 2nd banana talent types who (due to the make up of their current teams) are 3rd (or worse) on the food chain — like odom and kirilenko. put either of them on a non-contender, and watch them run up and down the court getting stats, making money, and not getting in the playoffs. shawn marion reeks of this as well.

last season the ones who benefitted the most were ray allen and KG . . . but not in the same way that some stat hungry players want. they sacrificed that for a chance for a ring.

  9. alf (from melmak) says:

first, can we please stop with “first”, “uno” or whatever thing. its already is very annoying.

second, doc rivers is still a brainless coach who just got lucky by having kg, allen, and the truth mesh with their bench guys. remember the celtics losing seasons when he blamed everyone but himself?

not the same with mo cheeks. he is one fine coach and someone the players can reach out to.

point is, even during their playing days, mo cheeks was way better than rivers ever was.

im out like coaches who should not even be in the nba.

  10. Coop says:

Kyle Lowry to Miami would ‘break out’ in a small way, I believe.

  11. Monkey says:

    so,please don’t always misunderstand him
    He’s such an innocent boy.Please.

  12. JOB33 says:

Ben Gorder for NBA’s Mike Turner, oh wait. What?

  13. Coop says:

Agree with Alf. Rivers is still pretty inept, he just had the brains not to fatigue his big three, which was really the only thing that could have gone wrong for them. Cleveland got to the Finals but not many would argue that Mike Brown is a tactical genius.

  14. rodnets says:

“I am just really excited and looking forward to being there with the guys when camp opens in a few weeks. That is a real bonding process and if I can avoid being on the sidelines for that, God willing, I will.”

    Translation

“I will diseminate my DNA again in these guys, and I’ll dash to surgery as soon as the team sucks, after I started jacking shots and avoiding passes to Gasoft and BooYa Chick”

  15. "Vinnie "2 mins"Johnson" says:

The smartest thing that Doc Rivers did was to allow his assistant coach Tom Thibodeau to run the defense. But Doc is not a that great of a coach.

  16. Three Stacks says:

rodents, why would the Lakers suck? Adding a decent center to a team that went to the Finals last year doesn’t equate to sucking. At least I wouldn’t think so.

As a Laker fan, I would like Kobe to get the surgery now, even if it means no Kobe until Christmastime. I think they’d still make the playoffs. The only reasons I can think of for Kobe wanting to play through it is:

    1) He’s been faking it this whole time, like a 6 month long version of Paul Pierce.
    2) He really, really wants to win back to back MVP awards.
    3) He really believes the Lakers will miss the playoffs if he doesn’t play the full year.

It’s not like anyone believes him when he says he wants to stick around for the bonding, right?

  17. sans says:

The Indians were the best hitting team in baseball when Bron was growing up, but they ran into the Yankees buzzsaw in the playoffs a bunch of time (also the only team to really fuck with Yanks in the 90s). Cavs were amazing to me when I was young, but I got 5 years on Bron. The Browns were fucking taken from us as fans (I do feel for you Austin, that shit hurts) and Gift had to root for someone. It takes a lot of guts to be a frontrunner in Akron and not root for home. But at least Lebron loves the Buckeyes like most Ohioans.

If he was for Michigan or some ish like that, I think the state would write him off.

  18. sans says:

Naw, I don’t think Kobe is coming to camp for the bonding either, Stacks. He’s going there cuz he hasn’t chewed anyone out or broken out his death stare in a minute. Preseason is for warming up your whole game.

  20. Mike says:

Ike Diogu got a fair chance when he was first traded to Indiana from GSW. He didn’t do anything.

  21. GEE...and now she's sniffin again.. says:

Kobe know he needs to go and get that surgery. He still on some image stuff and not thinking right. If that bad boy gets hit somehow and gets even worse, awww naw!

Still I don’t think it’s as bad as he is letting on. Cause most cats that are really bothered by something or if they have something that is really altering their game, they will most def. get surgery. He straight.

Might as well say he 100%

The whole Zack thing is to the point of boring now. Tired news, just trade or not and get it over with please.

I like that LeBron still sticks with the teams he has liked since being a kid (he kinda still a kid lol). That is just loyalty. If Chicago was smart they would try to play up on that card.

Alf what up! Still eating them cats pimpin? I used to love that show.

  22. Three Stacks says:

I really don’t like the fact that Lebron is such a frontrunner. I think sports teams should be like families, you’re born into the fanbase without much of a choice.

One of the best things about being a sports fan is going to a local bar or your alma mater and cheering for YOUR team with everyone else, just for the simple fact that the teams represent MY school or MY area. I can’t agree with rooting for a team just cause they win all the time.

  23. GEE...and now she's sniffin again.. says:

Three I agree you should root for your home squad, but at the same time, it’s not like the squads he likes have always been winning.

Added to that, who knows the reason he probably chose those teams outside of winning, could have been favorite players on the squads or something else.

He probably should root for his home squads a little more, but I have no prob. with dude rooting for other squads for various reasons, even if because they win a lot is one of them.

I was born in Colorado, and the only team I really root for hardcore is the Broncos. All the other squads I want to do well, but they not my favorites.

    NBA – Rockets
    NFL – Broncos
    MLB – LA Dodgers
    College football – Georgia Bulldogs
    College Baseball – Georgia Bulldogs
    College Basketball – Georgetown

Not that anyone cares who I root for, but I am just saying folks got their own reasons.

  24. sans says:

Three Stacks, I agree completely. I go to the U of Oregon, but I will always be Buckeyes fan. Growing up in Cleveland does that to you, just like loving the Browns, Cavs, and, although baseball isn’t a sport I care for, I pull for the Indians. When I lived I in AZ, I rooted for DBacks and Suns along with everyone else, but I was always a Cleveland fan first. Besides, everyone liked the Bulls, except when they were crushing their squad. Michael Jordan and Emmit Smith were two of the best athletes that we’ll ever see, hard not to pull for them.

Rooting for the Yankees, though, is unAmerican. Unless your from the boroughs.

  25. Prodigy195 says:

Can’t knock lebron for not being a Cleveland sports fan. I’m about his same age and I was a Cowboys and Bulls fan growing up simply because they were 2 of the best teams in the 90’s when I was young.

Hell I’m from Atlanta but I’ve never been a Falcon/Hawks fan(Gotta love the Braves even though they suck now). But I will say that the few times I was lucky enough to get Hawks or Falcons tickets, I was rooting hard for my them simply out of respect for the hometeam.

  26. blazerjunkie says:

    LAKERS SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  27. josh tha roc says:

beast on the bench is paul millsap and i agree about lowry.

  28. MoxWestCoastRep says:

What is the Kings deal? He likes winners? I think its more accurate he is a Bandwagon fan…
He grew up in Akron but likes the Cowboys Bulls and Yankees.
I cant stand people like that. Gee, You have a connection obviously to Denver and your own personal reasons for liking those teams that dont include “because they win a lot”.
I have a friend from LA- grew up there all his life and is a Spurs fan, Cowboy fan and Red Sock fan. I give him shit all the time. Have some legit reasons why you like a team and it shouldnt be cause they win!

  29. Chaos says:

you really can’t blame lebron for liking who he liked. even tho you didnt really like the bulls, it had the most exciting player at the time on the team who was a winner and shows who he wanted to be like as a winner. th indians were always up and down as a squad and cleveland couldnt hold on to the browns just like th cavs are having trouble doing. but as far is ohio state, he had no choice because nobody cheers for any team like they do for a college team.

can javaris critterton please stay with one team. i feel bad for the kid because it is possible that he is gonna get traded again

  30. P_Dizzle says:

LOL at the Mamba. That cat thinks he has everyone wrapped around his little finger. All that hype about his finger and he would need surgery and he might be out for the season. WOW! That guy is more drama then adding a 4th judge to American Idol.

I am puking in my mouth right now as I think about Kobe and all his drama. Kobe is probably the best baller on the planet (cases could be made for Lebron), but wow what a head case.

Question is, who’s shit would you rather put up with: Kobe or Ron Artest? Both are head cases.

Kobe’s nutsack is made out of leather ’cause that is all the dude thinks about, but is that worth all the demands to “trade me now”, “get Shaq and Phil out of here cuz I’m going to do it alone”, or “I might sit out the rest of the season ’cause I need surgery”?

NBA Version of Turner, what about Paul Millsap?

Lebron is playing major head games with the Cleveland fans. After the last time he wore the Yankee hat you would think he would have learned. Hate to say and see it, but it isn’t looking good for Cavs fans.

  31. Tom S. says:

A lot of guys follow the teams that their father follows (that’s how I got cursed with being a Cleveland fan). LeBron didn’t have a dad to teach him that watching sports should have occasional flashes of hope, but is mostly heartbreaking.

  32. johnny says:

    Amir Johnson = Hidden Beast

    I think.

  33. MoxWestCoastRep says:

If you didnt have a dad who to gravitat to his team, wouldnt you gravitate toward your hometown team?
@PDizzle- How the hell are Kobe and Artest on the same level? How is Kobe a head case? All the drama he created 2 years ago with the team turned out pretty well and now he is sacrificing for the team again by forgoing surgery.
The only thing Artest and Kobe have in common is that they are both Black- thanks chuck.

  34. P_Dizzle says:

How is Kobe a head case?

2 years ago? Don’t you mean one year ago? It was only last summer MoxWestCoastRep!

Now I realize that a lot of people in here are sucking on Kobe’s teet and won’t agree but the dude is a total head case. Kobe is like a dog eating it’s own vomit in that he caused the destruction of the Lakers franchise by running Shaq and Phil out of town and then had the audacity to bring Phil back (when he couldn’t convince Coach K) and then demanded a trade from what HE created.

Kobe is an outstanding talent and a one of a kind athlete, but his ego is a lot bigger than he is.

I don’t expect anyone to agree with me because I understand that Kobe has this insane group following him that will kiss his whole butthole, but that is my two cents.

  35. MoxWestCoastRep says:

Oh, that’s what you meant, forcing management to make some moves to improve the team.
Basically he has the same mentality as Jerry Jones and Steinbrenner, right?
So he wants to win, man that’s psycho!
That’s right up there with starting riots and starving dogs!
Thank god we have P dizzle to spread his infinite wisdom.
I think you are the head case dude, or you might be a Kings fan?? lol

  36. dukesman2000 says:

I have been to Cleveland and there’s nothing to like about it…lol.

  37. GEE...and now she's sniffin again.. says:

MoxWestCoastRep I agree you most def should have some specific reason for liking a team outside of they win a lot or all the time. I am also saying that I think that LeBron does have other reasons. Then again who knows.

I ain’t on no kissin no whole or half a butthole or 1/4 for that matter, but I don’t see Kobe as a head case?

A few bad decisions sure. Still I look at it as an insane drive to want to win and he is an Alpha male to the heart. Probably to much pride to where it’s cocky probably still he straight.

I mean most stars have done something to where we could calling them head cases. We all make errors in judgement and otherwise.

Then again I don’t consider Ron a head case either lol.

Crunchbury…now that is prolly a different story.

  38. sans says:

At least Sacto goes nuts for the Kings, even during stints of mediocrity.

Kobe is nuts. But everyone is. He just has people chronicling him all damn day. He needs to get surgery, and stick to playing “whose a bigger baller” over the mind games, that he learned from Phil, with the media, who lap it up like a dog to vomit (good imagery P_D).

  39. sans says:

Cleveland is a good place to grow up, but, yeah, there is a diaspora of sorts leading away from that city. It’s nothing but concrete with a lake. It’s gotten hoodie. Two years ago my dad got carjacked in a 1990 Plymouth Acclaim.
Over the last eight years, not much has gone right for that area, but it’s still home. And the fans for the sports there are incredible.

  40. schoops says:

Bron just was a bandwagon fan growing up. He picked the team that won the msot in each sport because he was “that guy.” and if he weren’t bron everyone woudl say how pathetic that was, with no loyalty, but in his case he “likes winners.” lame.

Doc is still a shit coach who lucked into 2, maybe 3 HOFs. Lawrence Frank is still a good coach because well, vince is his best player. And when vince is your best option, you’re screwed.

  41. Jim says:

Man, I like Cleveland, I think it’s pretty nice. I’ve only been there for business and a couple of games, though.

Bandwagon fan is bandwagon fan. Though I loved hearing LeBron say he didn’t like TO coming to Dallas because of the star/George Teague incident, so I would say he’s a real fan, at least.

  42. sans says:

I’d say Bron is a real fan…just stuck with the teams he used to frontrun with back when.

Cleveland is real nice, it needs some economic turnaround.

For no reason, these shoes are sick:

great show of your “journalistic” ethic. with that out of not where comment about kobe and off season surgery.

    get over it.

    be more profesional

i’m confused, you guys used to suck up to kobe like you did lebron, maybe you have new people in or lebron pays better than kobe.

  44. Stepper says:

    @ schoops
“Doc is still a shit coach who lucked into 2, maybe 3 HOFs. Lawrence Frank is still a good coach because well, vince is his best player. And when vince is your best option, you’re screwed”

Really, frank is good is he?. And some respect for vince, don’t hate him because, he couldn’t be mike. Frank is still thick as pig shit.

  45. Austin Burton says:

@rlf — Didn’t we just put Kobe on the cover twice this calendar year?

  46. Austin Burton says:

@sans — The Sonics actually aren’t my first time losing a team, because I grew up more of a Browns fan than a Seahawks fan. Reason being, the Seahawks SUCKED when I was a kid; not many kids I knew rooted for (or admitted rooting for) them, this being back in the Rick Mirer days of 2-14 seasons.
Around the age where I would develop my football fan-dom, the Browns had Eric Metcalf, who grew up in Seattle and played in the same Little League program I played in. So he was my favorite player, and the Browns (who were good) became my favorite team.
But I would say that since I’ve moved back to Seattle this year I’ve been following the Seahawks more closely than the Browns. It helps that my younger cousins, who grew up rooting for good Seahawks teams, are die-hard Seahawks fans, plus my Dad and uncle’s Seahawk enthusiasm is rubbing off on me. Now that the city is so crazy about the Hawks, it’s tough to not become a fan or at least be very knowledgeable about the team.
My other non-Seattle team I’ve always rooted for is Georgetown basketball. The U of Washington hoop team was a total non-presence when I was growing up, and I went to Seattle U, which is D-2. G’town just appealed to me.

  47. schoops says:

@stepper.. let me rephrase. no coach could win with the team that Frank has. So I guess, just don’t judge one way or the other.

As far as Vince, dude wanted the franchise tag in Toronto then cried his way out of that situation, then only made the playoffs cuz J-kidd was running the show and jefferson is a solid third option. Vince is constantly “injured” and never gives the effort that his salary suggests he should. I don’t want him to be like Mike, but he could at least try to be like t-mac.

  48. Skeeter McGee says:

LeBron taking a line from his homeboy Jigga cause when he die his last request gonna be “PUT MY YANKEE HAT ON!” haha

  49. Three Stacks says:

I wouldn’t say Kobe is a head case. For sure, he’s very conscious of himself, everything he does seems kinda contrived, but like I said so many times, who cares? The guy is just a basketball player — I’m not trying to have him as my role model or anything, all I care about is how he helps the Lakers.

In my opinion, people don’t know nearly enough about athletes and their real personalities to be accusing them of being crazy. Except OJ.

  50. Three Stacks says:

I’m just gonna go out on a limb and say Lebron didn’t become a Yankees fan until NY won their championships. If he wanted to root for a good hometown team, the Indians were in the World Series the year before NY won their first championship in 20 yrs, and they beat the Yankees to get back to the Series a couple years after that. The Indians were probably the 2nd most successful AL team when Lebron was growing up, yet he still chose to become a Yankee fan.

If your hometown team absolutely sucks or management screws you (like the Browns), I can understand, but rooting for the Bulls, Cowboys, Yankees? Combined 13 championships in the 90s? How can you say he’s not a bandwagon frontrunner?

  51. GEE...and now she's sniffin again.. says:

Yo Three we speculatin either way pimpin.

Marv Albert got all the hoes!

  52. Homeless J says:

Homeless basketball world championship? Where do I sign up? I’ll take that shit home in the name of Dime. I will even make a Dime flag out of toilet paper, markers and a tree branch.

I saw Lebron at that Cowboys-Browns game wearing Cowboy colors and clowning around with Romo and T.O. and nowhere to be seen near the Browns. I remember thinking that was pretty strange. I mean it’s cool to root for whoever you want to root for, for whatever reason, but it alienates you from your home fanbase for the exact reasons Braylon described if you only show up to games that are against your favorite teams, show up in the other teams’ colors and are seen laughing and carousing with the other team and never having any contact with your home team. but I guess he gets a free pass because he’s a great player.

I wouldn’t mind seeing more football talk here on Dime in these slow basketball months leading up to the season. It seems like a lot of us at least follow the NFL loosely, and Dime is a football defensive scheme. There have been more half-assed reasons in the history of internet journalism to talk about something.

The University of Oregon Ducks are obviously my favorite college football team, because I grew up just a short drive away and since they consistently kill the competition, they’re the closest thing I’ve had to a legit football team in Oregon. I’ve never really liked the Seahawks, like Austin said, they sucked when I was growing up and there’s always been that northwest competitiveness between sports teams in Oregon and Washington that make it hard to root for teams on the other side of the state border. It was kind of cool when they made the superbowl a few years ago, but I didn’t really root for them because I knew they would fuck it up and lose the game, and after they audibled away the end of the first half when they had a chance to try to make it to the end zone, I knew I was right. Plus this season is now totally fucked for them with the injuries and I bet Holmgren is wishing he wouldn’t have come back for this year, and hadn’t fucked up that superbowl three years ago.

Also, just like everyone else who doesn’t live in New England, I fucking hate the Pats and that faggot Tom Brady. I don’t usually like to see people in sports get hurt, I’m not one of those idiots who sits around and wishes for the opposing team to get hurt and laughs when they do, but I was really really really happy when Bernard Pollard destroyed that assfuck’s knee. I hope the Patriots go 1-15 and Gisele dumps him for Eli Manning. Someone had shirts made that say BERNARD POLLARD FAN CLUB: FOUNDED SEPT. 7th, 2008 with the number 12 crossed out and I’m going to buy one.

  53. Three Stacks says:

Why the hating on Brady, J? He never did anything but play good football.

  54. GEE...and now she's sniffin again.. says:

Dang and I thought I had a heavy dislike for dude wow!

  55. Homeless J says:

He’s an overly smug, humorless bastard.

He did play good football – and he probably will again after he comes back from the injury – but him and his coach are the two biggest assholes in the NFL.

I like Peyton Manning because he’s a great player, he wins consistently (except last Monday night) and he has a good sense of humor. He seems down to earth and like somebody I would like to have a beer and shoot the shit with. (so basically if he ran for president he would win.) I hate Brady because he’s a great player, he wins consistently, but he takes himself way too seriously and he’s way too smug for my liking. Last year on a 4th and 1 against the Bills, when they were already up 40something to 7 and the game was almost over, he went for a touchdown pass anyway just to run his numbers up and be an asshole.

    @ Austin
That’s how it is living in Eugene, the way people root for the Ducks, I get swept up in it. Plus I’m finishing my degree there, so i root hard for Gang Green. But that’s nothing to how I root for Buckeye football.

    @ Homeless J
You living under Washington Jefferson park, dog? If so, we should get together and ball.

  57. sans says:

Oh, Eric Metcalf was the illest punt returner. I still hate on Belichick for fucking around in his first head coaching gig. Motherfucker was lifeless in the NorthCoast.

  58. Homeless J says:

Right now I’m about a half hour drive down 1-5 from you, Sans. I do come up there periodically, it’d be cool to meet up and play a game or two. Actually now that I think about it, I plan on going up there to see a game at Autzen sometime this season, maybe I’ll see you there among the other tens of thousands of people in the audience.

How long have you been going there? A girl I grew up across the street from went to U of O to study acting for a while before she transferred to california.

  59. Austin Burton says:

@sans — Browns fans are like 5-percenters: we know that Belichick isn’t exactly the genius everyone thinks he is.

  60. sans says:

yeah, for real. you can find sublime truth in even the smallest details of life.
