@sans -- Browns fans are like 5-percenters: we know that Belichick isn't exactly the genius everyone thinks he is.

Right now I'm about a half hour drive down 1-5 from you, Sans. I do come up there periodically, it'd be cool to meet up and play a game or two. Actually now that I think about it, I plan on going up there to see a game at Autzen sometime this season, maybe I'll see you there among the other tens of thousands of people in the audience.

How long have you been going there? A girl I grew up across the street from went to U of O to study acting for a while before she transferred to california.

@ Austin
That's how it is living in Eugene, the way people root for the Ducks, I get swept up in it. Plus I'm finishing my degree there, so i root hard for Gang Green. But that's nothing to how I root for Buckeye football.

@ Homeless J
You living under Washington Jefferson park, dog? If so, we should get together and ball.

He's an overly smug, humorless bastard.

He did play good football - and he probably will again after he comes back from the injury - but him and his coach are the two biggest assholes in the NFL.

I like Peyton Manning because he's a great player, he wins consistently (except last Monday night) and he has a good sense of humor. He seems down to earth and like somebody I would like to have a beer and shoot the shit with. (so basically if he ran for president he would win.) I hate Brady because he's a great player, he wins consistently, but he takes himself way too seriously and he's way too smug for my liking. Last year on a 4th and 1 against the Bills, when they were already up 40something to 7 and the game was almost over, he went for a touchdown pass anyway just to run his numbers up and be an asshole.

Homeless basketball world championship? Where do I sign up? I'll take that shit home in the name of Dime. I will even make a Dime flag out of toilet paper, markers and a tree branch.

I saw Lebron at that Cowboys-Browns game wearing Cowboy colors and clowning around with Romo and T.O. and nowhere to be seen near the Browns. I remember thinking that was pretty strange. I mean it's cool to root for whoever you want to root for, for whatever reason, but it alienates you from your home fanbase for the exact reasons Braylon described if you only show up to games that are against your favorite teams, show up in the other teams' colors and are seen laughing and carousing with the other team and never having any contact with your home team. but I guess he gets a free pass because he's a great player.

I wouldn't mind seeing more football talk here on Dime in these slow basketball months leading up to the season. It seems like a lot of us at least follow the NFL loosely, and Dime is a football defensive scheme. There have been more half-assed reasons in the history of internet journalism to talk about something.

The University of Oregon Ducks are obviously my favorite college football team, because I grew up just a short drive away and since they consistently kill the competition, they're the closest thing I've had to a legit football team in Oregon. I've never really liked the Seahawks, like Austin said, they sucked when I was growing up and there's always been that northwest competitiveness between sports teams in Oregon and Washington that make it hard to root for teams on the other side of the state border. It was kind of cool when they made the superbowl a few years ago, but I didn't really root for them because I knew they would fuck it up and lose the game, and after they audibled away the end of the first half when they had a chance to try to make it to the end zone, I knew I was right. Plus this season is now totally fucked for them with the injuries and I bet Holmgren is wishing he wouldn't have come back for this year, and hadn't fucked up that superbowl three years ago.

Also, just like everyone else who doesn't live in New England, I fucking hate the Pats and that faggot Tom Brady. I don't usually like to see people in sports get hurt, I'm not one of those idiots who sits around and wishes for the opposing team to get hurt and laughs when they do, but I was really really really happy when Bernard Pollard destroyed that assfuck's knee. I hope the Patriots go 1-15 and Gisele dumps him for Eli Manning. Someone had shirts made that say BERNARD POLLARD FAN CLUB: FOUNDED SEPT. 7th, 2008 with the number 12 crossed out and I'm going to buy one.
