Michael Beasley wants exposure, Andrew Bogut wants restraint, and D-Miles just wants to play

It doesn’t seem like that long ago. Back in 2000, people were comparing preps-to-pros draftee Darius Miles to young All-Star Kevin Garnett with his all-over-the-court style, crazy athleticism and seemingly limitless potential. And now today, KG is a grizzled vet and a Hall of Fame lock coming off an NBA championship, while D-Miles — who has never played in a postseason game — is just hoping to get some playing time on KG’s team and prove he’s not a total wreck physically. “My goal is to try to be a force off the bench, bring some type of different play and change the game,” Miles told the Boston Globe about what he wants to do with the Celtics. “Hopefully, if Doc (Rivers) chooses to play me, I can do that.” Miles added, “This is my first time playing on a team that wins most of its games. The teams I’ve played on were going to lose most of their games, and we knew this before the season.” Words of a winner, people. Now that we know how D-Miles felt about his days with the Clippers, Cavs and Blazers, it’d be funny to go back in the archives and read some of his preseason “I think we’re gonna be good” interviews from back then … Michael Beasley has reportedly fired his agent because he wasn’t satisfied with the kind of endorsement deals he was getting. Do you think Beasley should have been expecting the kind of monster sneaker deal that Kevin Durant got last year (about $60 million), or something more low-key like what Greg Oden got (about $12 million). Beasley doesn’t fit into the “big men don’t sell shoes” category like G.O., and he’s playing in a major market (Miami) next to a superstar (D-Wade) that will get him on national TV a bunch of times. Are potential endorsers being scared away from Beasley by the same “character issues” we’ve been hearing about with him for years? … The Ralph Lauren flagship store in New York held a V.I.P. party where they sold — for $1,000 a pop — 300 basketballs designed by Ralph and signed by LeBron. The guest list included Jason Kidd, Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, Serena Williams and Coach Jay-HovaAndrew Bogut has made headlines in the past with his opinions on the spending habits of American-born ballplayers. Now he’s at it again. In an interview with Australia’s Herald Sun, Bogut said, “It’s just the way of life over there. I mean every country has its different culture and that’s a big part of it over there. I respect that, but it’s just not me. I have a nice watch, a nice little chain, but compared to the guys over there it’s loose change.” Bogut also said, “A problem that a lot of millionaires or executives or athletes have is that you’re making five or 10 million a year only for about 10 years of your life and you’re upgrading to the best Mercedes or the best Beamer every year, getting a new house every two or three years and then all of a sudden you retire and you can’t do that any more. A lot of people get caught up in that because they maintain that lifestyle. They’re so used to it they do it for five years after they retire and they realize they have no funds left. That’s something I’m trying to be wary of, that’s why I don’t want to go too big with houses, cars and all that. I’ve definitely got some nice things, but having five houses in different countries is just pointless to me.” Bogut ran into a lot of critics the last time he spoke out, but you have to admit he isn’t talking nonsense. Maybe the League should have him speak to the rookies at future transition seminars … Illinois held its “A Night of Legends” alumni game over the weekend. Deron Williams, who was also in town to be honored at Saturday’s Illinois football game for winning the Olympics gold medal, had a game-high 19 points and led a team made up of a lot of guys from the 2005 national runner-up squad (Dee Brown, Luther Head, etc.) to a win over a bunch of the 1989 Illini squad that was ranked #1 in the country at one point (Kendall Gill, Nick Anderson, etc.) … Remember when the idea that T-Mac would never advance past the first round of the playoffs seemed ridiculous? NBA TV replayed a game from that era, a 2002 playoff first-rounder between the Magic and Hornets. We’re talking Baron Davis with no hair, Darrell Armstrong with hair, Pat Ewing on his way out (that was his final season), Horace Grant nearing the end of the road, and Jamaal Magloire back when he was considered young (hard to believe he’s only 30 now). The Hornets won in OT (naturally), with Baron putting up 33 points, 14 boards and 10 assists, while T-Mac went for 37 points in the loss. But how good would those Orlando teams have been if Grant Hill had been able to play? Between Hill, Penny Hardaway, supposedly having a real chance at getting Tim Duncan in free agency and the actuality of losing Shaq in free agency, has any franchise had more reasons to ask “What If?” … We’re out like Bogut’s updated Beamer …

as unpopular as it may be, but i agree with andrew bogut…

  3. Magnifico says:

unfortunately Beasley’s gotta prove himself on and off the court before he gets the dough. i see it as a clear chip on the shoulder which might set him on the right path. he certainly looks passive sometimes, like he’s entitled to something. i say take this on the chin and play like a beast during the season.

  4. YOUNG FED says:

phoenix has alot of what ifs during the nash era, they sell their draft picks, which would they use on igoudala, deng and ben gordon, and they let joe johonson to be traded…. oh and the game that refree fixed, plus amare having knee surgery after having a ridicolous post season… i think phoenix has alot of what ifs….

  5. Fabian says:

    agree with bogut as well.

  6. j from la says:

i wish dmiles would have took basketball serious back in 2001 instead of just dunkin and doin the headband thing. he has talent but the ethic is definetly lacking. bogut is speaking the truth but at the sametime he is rubbing people on his squad the wrong way. beasley should have one decent endorsement but at the sametime he didnt come out of a major school durant came out of texas and all his games were on tv most people saw beasley on sportscenter. i still think hell b r.o.y. orlando has had the worst luck in terms of personnel in the last 20 years.

  7. solomon says:

yeah, suns kinda full of “what if?”… then kerr came and they go “what now?”… after a couple of years & lottery picks, they’d go “wtf” or “what happened?”

  8. solomon says:

bogut is the anti-beasley… kinda awkward they both are featured in the same article…

heck, i won’t mind being rubbed the wrong way so as long as im given a constant reality check…

and d-miles needs some sort of grant hill kool-aid to make something out of his otherwise wasted career…

we’re out like being the next KG…

  9. SparkyJay23 says:

Beasley needs to realise shit gets EARNED unless he plans on living on that rookie deal for the rest of his life.
Joke shops are not the biggest endorsers are they son?

Explain how the fuck RL designs a better basketball – let me guess some wack ass polo player on it makes it better?

DMiles looks like he’s learned a work ethic which should stand him in good stead. Any other examples of a loser moving to a team of winning vets and getting REALLY better?

  10. English Off The Glass says:

Rookies who made the big endorsements straight away did so because they were instantly the go to guy on a floundering team Durant, Lebron etc etc. IS Beasley really going to be the saviour of the Heat with Wade on the same team? When you aint the go to guy, you aint the go to endorsement.

  11. YOUNGFED says:

    @POST#4
The Real YOUNGFED says if you’re gonna use my do it right there’s no space between young and fed. Moron. Come on DIME you need to put a in to all these posers. But I glad to see suckers still wanna be me. Also who ever you are Dude that’s really really LAME. If you want the name just tell me who you are and you can have it chump.

BTW FUQ Bogut. Ball till you fall I say. He’s just mad he never got that 100 mill. “A Milli, A Milli, I’m young black Milli-onaire. lol

  12. Coop says:

Bogut got flamed last time and he’ll get the same again because people can’t take criticism. Frankly, any time I see some idiot player posing next to some stupid truck with 22″ wheels I sigh and die a bit inside.

  13. English Off The Glass says:

    Amen to that YOUNGFED

If your earning 10 Mill a year, Spend 10 Mill a year. Spending is stimulating a poor economy and we all need the millionaires to keep buying all these cars and Mansions because exponentially it keeps hundreds and hundreds of people in work from buliders and plant workers to admin and secrtaries.

Sorry to get all economical on your asses but this kind of thing pisses me off. If you are being paid millions of dollars of advertising and ticket payers money, you should be doing your bit to put that back into the economy.

Whats Bogut going to do? make a sofa out of dollar bills and then give to a Rescued Dogs home when he dies??

Great contribution there Andrew. And btw, if your earning 10 Million a year for ANY period of time, and you somehow run out of funds in the next 100 years, you are a fucking idiot and deserve to be poor.

  14. Coop says:

Er I believe that’s his point, English. I’m sure you often go into a car dealership and think ‘i’ll get the most expensive one here to get the economy going’ lol what? It isn’t consumers duty for fucks sake. business dictates supply and demand. it starts from the provider. Bogut is merely saying chimps cant manage their money, which they cant. end of.

  15. English Off The Glass says:

    Coop,
I understand his point, but like i said, the problem is not that they cannot manage money, the problem is that they get paid far too much money in the first place, so the least they can do is then inject that back into the economy.

And secondly, i dont walk into the car dealership and think that for two reasons.
    a) Im broke.

    b) Who thinks that? They go in think ‘Damn yo that car is fly, bithces gonna be all over my junk and shit, can i get them dubs in chrome yo??’ because they are fools and have no sense of style and far too much money. BUT, just because they are not consciously stimulating the economy, does not mean they are not doing so in the process, does it?

and you are entirely correct. They cannot manage thier money at all. A lot of them are still Kids, what 20 year old can manage 10 million dollars? Thats why they employ accountants and agents etc etc who all Buy stupid Mercedes and massive houses and continue to keep the poor economy afloat.

  16. YOUNGFED says:

    @Coop
“chimps cant manage their money,” – Chimps whats that supposed to mean.

    BARACK 08′

  17. English Off The Glass says:

    Whoa, didnt notice that.

    Coop deals the race card…..

  18. English Off The Glass says:

Come to think of it the letter ‘I’ is mighty close to the letter ‘U’ i.e Chumps.

    I retract my last statement.

  19. Bruce says:

bogut was defintely rite. but if I was portland I would tonya harding d. miles knee cause he’s defintely playing ten games this season and next. he his something to prove and he was working out with jordans trainer. I see him doing 10pts 5rebs.

  20. sans says:

Small slackjawed simians stop with stupid accusations of singleminded slurs…I’m sure Coop didn’t mean to be racist, he’s English, they don’t even think over there…

  21. sans says:

Oh, and I feel what Boguts saying. English off the Glass–you are gone be broke the rest of your life. It’s good your dealing with it now. What Bogut is missing is the foundations and charities that many players also contribute. Where’s the “Andrew Bogut Reading Center for Kids who can’t read good”?

YOUNGFED–I cannot fathom anyone ever wanting to be you. I was like, “Wow! A whole post without being loud and ignorant. Wow.”

Personally, I find superfluous flash and fake glimmers a detraction from pure existence. Peace.

  22. YOUNGFED says:

Sans STFU!!! How can someone be loud on a post. I’m personally tired of all you foreigners complaining about our culture, but yet following it like little puppies. If Bogut has such a problem with us go play in the Euro’s or something. Also Sans WTF are you Coops representative now, I’m quite sure dude can speak for himself. Get money you broke Bastard.

  23. bsteezy3 says:

Yep, I gotta comment on the 2002 Orlando smack talk… Our franchise has had many “What ifs” over the years. Let me include “What if Nick Anderson hit 1 or 2 of the 4 free throw that he missed in the 1995 NBA finals?” Would Shaq have left Orlando the following year? That 2002 playoff series mentioned in smack was the Baron Davis’s coming out party. Dude was unstoppable, and he was the reason the Magic lost…they couldn’t stop what he was doing. I’m convinced that if TMAC had a healthy Grant Hill with him, we would have made more noise… And if IF was a FIFTH, we’d all be drunk…

  24. English Off The Glass says:

That was some nice illiteration there sans. But you might wanna be careful with the sibilance, it gives the impression of daemonism and evil. Apparently.

I would also like to say I am English and dont think at all and would like to apologise if my race card comment offended anyone.

    My bad.

  25. Coop says:

woah woah woah by ‘chimps’ I mean idiots. Being stupid with money is not confined to black guys. Jesus.

  26. solomon says:

i dont think bogus, err, bogut meant to diss dem wrong, i mean, yeah foundation, charities and all, but still, some playas waste them benjamins like they’ve got a year left to live or something…

…it’s good to give back, but spending unreasonably aint giving back, economy and all… who earns more if someone buys a lambo? the factory workers? the blue collars? naaaaaahhhh… its those big shots in the upper ups that gets richer, we just pick off their crumbs… yeah, hard fact, but true…

and going back to what if’s… what if mccain suddenly beat obama in the elections? haha – caught ya nappin’…

    we’re out like impossible…

  27. Coop says:

Thank you Sans. Sort of lol

English, I see. You were talking about the rich giving back which to a degree I am totally behind. I do, however, disagree that there’s any sort of responsibilty to do so.

  28. solomon says:

and let’s not get racist here by any means… black, white, yellow, brown – we are all united by the game we love – basketball

    we’re out like racial discrimination

  29. Coop says:

Isn’t McCain (by the way a company called McCain make oven chips over here) ahead in some polls? So not a surprise if he wins, no?

  30. heartbreaker85 says:

bogut’s got a new monicker in my book, call him ‘preacher man’ or some shit

  31. sans says:

mccain will probably beat obama. He relies on old people showing up to the polls, while Obama instigates an idea of change fervently popular among younger voters. People in my age group don’t vote. I would to see them vote, but they don’t. Marijuana would be legal today if senators and rep’s had to worry about the concerns of the youth of this nation, i.e., if they had a demographic of active, registered voters, but we, Americans, don’t reach that point of our lives until we join the AARP.

Was I included with that foreigners comment FED? WTF? “How can someone be loud on a post” lmfao. I don’t know man, you just seem to be that dude that yells instead of talking. Like DMX in this Katt Williams clip (it also has that Shaq joke I mentioned days ago).

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PufU0HehXLU

    Don’t hate. It’s just comedy.

  32. sans says:

call Bogut “Loose Change” like Ja-Rule (who really is not good at rapping) called 50 once.

I feel you Solomon, wasting resources is ridiculous. Whether it be money, water, energy, or your own integrity, wasting is sinful. I’m out like having no funds left…

  33. Coop says:

DMX is a braindead homophobe. Any other similarities? Just kidding, Fed :)

  34. Bron42 aka Your Moms Best Friend says:

sans I heard they made his charity but he was pissed and said it would need to be at least 5 or six times bigger than what they showed him. “What is this, a school for ants!”

Seriously though, lookin back at the old magic rosters, people really need to give tmac more credit lol. He makes lebrons current roster and Iversons old sixers roster look stacked.

And while Bogut is right, He still is the aussie brian scalabine and needs to keep it on the hush for alil once in a while. D-bags shouldnt be allowed to get mic time. Ask tim hardaway. Make a allstar game, win a champ, hell, get your team to a winnin record. Most American guys are bad with money, Most Euro guys are bad with keepin up under pressure. The circle continues.

  35. sans says:

Nice post bron42…did you make Slamball? u need a paycheck to hang with my moms…

  36. M Intellect says:

Bogut needs to shut the fuck up and watch his own pockets. I hate it when dudes in the same boat watch what another guy does and then feels obliged to comment.

If he’s happy with a first generation iPod and a tube television then fine. But if another dude wants an iPhone and Bang & Olufsen why is he acting like Warren Buffett so he can publically hate in an indirect way.

And he’s in Milwaukee! Imagine if he was in NY with Mo’ Money Marbury!

    Poetry, check the message.

  38. karizmatic says:

I agree with Bogut, NBA players need to manage their money better, as do all of us. Live within or below your means people. A millionaire spending money like he has billions will still get broke, and nothing is worse than seeing a guy who you know earned a bunch of money in his career be broke 5-10 years after retirement. The Magic are definitely the “what if” team as well.

  39. Coop says:

    Bron,

Come on now Tim Hardaway is a homophobic cretin. That’s hardly the same as Bogut commenting on lifestyle difference and cultural dissimilarities ‘tween the US and Aus.

And Mac didn’t do anything with that Magic team apart from another 1st round exit- Bron got to the Finals and so did AI.

  40. jamesagee says:

well like Chris Rock said there’s a difference between being rich and being wealthy. Shaq is rich, the dude who writes his checks he’s WEALTHY. Which goes to show that alot of these athletes don’t build wealth, they spend frivolously on things until their money diminishes and they have nothing to show for it. Someone is bringing up how athletes should spend because it helps the common man. The wealthy(or Rich) buy things and it trickles down to us. That is by far the dumbest shit ever squeezed out of somebody’s mouth. But keep on believing those ideas that’s just what they want, your buddy Joe, you know the yacht maker, and your friend Dylan down the street who makes seven hundred dollar Italian shoes will thank you

  41. Sam I Am says:

^^^^^This is what happens when kids make it to their mommies computer.

  50. Ian says:

    english off the glass
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA u gotta be kidding me

u see all these kids that grow up with nothing earn a good paycheck playin basketball and u want them to spend all their money buyin rims cuz it keeps u earning a couple of bucks washing cars

comon get real bogut is doing the smart thing is not like hes collecting stamps to eat he just isnt buyin 10 cars when one will do
and im sorry to say this but the world only sees this shit happening to black american athletes

  51. Phileus says:

People actually disagree with Bogut? It’s not a culture thing, it’s a common sense thing.

Then next time you see a “NBA Player X lost all his money two years after retiring and is now homeless, but Andrew Bogut has invested wisely and will live comfortably in the middle class for the rest of his life even if he doesn’t work” I want to see you all post “FUCK YOU AND YOUR ADVICE, ANDREW BOGUT” so that the whole world can see.

It’s not just NBA players. Everyone needs to learn basic money management. English Off The Glass, you need to learn basic economics too. It would be better if millionaires invested their money rather than spent it on disposable goods.

    PS, fuck Carlos Arroyo :)

  52. Ian says:

    jamesagee
hahahahaha thanks man i needed a good laugh after reading the post from english off the glass and the best part is that he says he got economical on us lol

there was actually one dude here that agreed with him

  53. Brown says:

T-MAC’s last name is spelled McGrady, so shouldn’t it be T-MC – pronounced “mick” not “mack”?

Anyways, dude has had bad luck, always being on teams that just don’t have the horses to compete with the league’s elite when the playoffs roll around. Except when he was in Toronto. He might not have been the flashiest player in T.O., which was VC, but most Raptors fans knew he was the better player. In his last year in T.O., he put up good numbers and was often the best player on the court, VC included. The biggest “what if” in Raptors fans minds (including mine) is if Tracey and Vince had stayed together. They would have been one of the most potent, star-studded 1-2 punches the league has ever seen. If Marcus Camby had been healthy and stayed in T.O. too, that team would have been unreal.

Camby was sour, McGrady had ego issues, and Vince quit on the team (eventually).

I’ll always wonder what could have been. Karma seems to have snakebit all three of them.

  54. Ian says:

    phileus
bogut can live high class with his money if its well managed for ever and his kids too but good post

u guys remember fukin matt geiger the dude has more money now than when he retired cuz he fuckin invested he didnt buy rims

  55. Ian says:

    brown
i think the time that really fucked tmac up was when he was playin in orlando vs the hornets in the first round they were up in the series and he went and said he was thebest player in the series not b. davis well after that comment he got a triple double from davis and series over

  56. Sam I Am says:

I am trying to figure out why they got my boy KG in his old uni as the photo.

I take it because of legal issues DIME can’t load or show photes that hey haven’t taken themselves??

    Screw D-Miles…big foreheaded bama !!!

  57. sans says:

Matt Geiger still can’t sell his house in Philly…but for real, Lawrence Funderburke should teach people how to invest. And not just black American athletes blow tons of money on stupid shit…look at David Beckam. He’s got tons of stupid, momentarily fashionable shit…houses, cars, his wife…

  58. Ian says:

    lol
sans hes wife makes good money at least

  59. Coop says:

yeah but beckham is minted, he knows what he’s doing, despite not sounding like he does.

  60. YOUNGFED says:

You guys are idiots if you think buying rims is breaking any of their pockets. Most of yall just hatin’ to hate anyway. Most of these guys can buy what they want and still have money for generations.

“You only live once, so live life to the fullest.” YOUNGFED

  61. Phileus says:

YOUNGFED you can live life to the fullest but what does that mean?

Live a high life for five years after you lose your regular income, and then die in poverty?
Or live a comfortable life (but a little less extravagantly) for your whole life and die comfortable, knowing your kids will be comfortable too?

Come on now. I know where you’re coming from but the NBA said something like over 50% of NBA players lose all their money within five years after retirement. Then a lot of these people didn’t finish college or even go in the first place, and then what do they have left? They have million-dollar debts and no way to pay them.

It’s just a shame. If we were really hating, then wouldn’t we just say “go ahead and spend all of your money and then die in a gutter”?

  62. YOUNGFED says:

    @PHILEUS
Hate comes in many forms and fashions, however why wouldn’t their kids be able to live comfortable to. I admit buying a privat jet is a bit much but a couple houses and cars is nothing to them.

  63. Sam I Am says:

I think its dumb by dumb athletes who in the end literally are worse off because they live paycheck to paycheck.

Once those legs are out or their talent is no longer appreciated then they are job hunting, and God forbid they finished an education or settle for a blue collar job. Its gotta be broadcasting or bust.

So screw them in the end, they wanna blow their money and up in the news for domestic disturbances, drug peddling, DUIs, club shootings, overdoses, gambling, prostitutions, etc.

Let me live the poor life where we aren’t observed, tempted or expected to fail as hard as they do.

  64. Sho-Nuff says:

Most times “going broke” doesn’t involve the spending, it involves the “carrying” of your broke a$$ family memebers, friends, and for lack of a better word, “posse”.

It’s all the hangers on that always seem to need a dollar or a million of them.

Barkley said it best, “Put your money in the bank and get paid off the interest”.

They try the “seminars”, but I think teaching all athletes the power of the word “NO!”. Buy your mom a house, hell one big enough for the whole family to live in, then what? You get stuck paying the utilities and real estate taxes…..not saying you can’t buy your mom a house, just maybe not a mansion…..

See Mike Vick as an example of what not to do….that fool gave someone he didn’t even know power of attorney on his finances while he’s in jail, and got cleaned out, not ONCE but TWICE!!!

  65. rangerjohn (IKE IS MY BITCH) says:

the “keeping up with the jones’s” mentality is the biggest problem. everyone has to one up the last guy. i blame mtv cribs. everyone wants on that show, and everyone tries to show they got more the nthe last guy. its all BS, in the end what does all that stuff get you? nothing, whats hte saying “you cant take it with you”. IMO you should be comfortable, make sure your kids are set and teach them to make sure their kids are set and so on.

as for becks, that guy has it made, he spends crazy money but he is not even close to spending what he makes. he is bringing in like 50 mil a yr (not counting his wifes money) he doesnt spend the money faster then he gets it. look at guys like spreewell, he spent it pretty damn fast, then you get guys like ewing saying crazy shit like “we make a lot of money but we spend a lot of money too” i mean come on man. “i got a family to feed” really spree? so do i and my family eats.

hell it is not about the color (although nba players tend to be the worst of the bunch because most of them come from poorer families) hell how about the WHITE nfl kicker a couple years ago who went broke, and then crazy and shot up sigried and roys house?

  66. Sam I Am says:

    That’s what I’m saying Sho-Nuff

it’s ridiculous how the culture is and how its changed so much.

I used to laugh at the people who go through mid life crisis and buy a convertible or that fancy new benz by old guys.

But you know what they actually worked a loooong time and appreciated the ups and downs of saving, education, and life to earn their reward and buy whatever.

When you give a 24 year old (LeBron) a possible 50 million dollars for playing ball (Europe), then clearly you know something isn’t right in the world

  67. P_Dizzle says:

Bogut is a dumb ass who doesn’t know what he is talking about!

    Signed,

Latrell Sprewell, Mike Tyson, Johnny Unitas, and Ed McMahon

  68. Sam I Am says:

    LOL

    P_Dizzle

and seriously its not that we don’t appreciate the athletes and the shows they put on, but I don’t understand why their salaries go up astronomically evey year like they get affected by inflation or something…

If someone ever says then don’t watch them, clearly life will go on without the regular people watching a team like the grizzlies on tv or the raiders or teams that aren’t worth the contracts and the attention that is yearned by the league.

    feels good to vent

  69. P_Dizzle says:

Whoops, I forgot about the “Hammer”

“Bogut is a fool with his money! You’ve got to live in the now and live it up, man!” – MC Hammer

  70. parinaz suns says:

noooo the phx suns actully have legit what ifs. weve been screwed over every yearrrr. what if joe johnson doest get his face broken? what if rajas leg didnt give out against hte mavs? what if tim duncans three didnt go in? what if we didnt get some dumb suspenions for amare and diaw when other players leave their benches (tim duncan did it during hte same exact game)? what if robert sarver wasnt an idiot and didnt let bryan colangelo/danton/kurt thomas/shawn marion etc. go? the list can go on and on

  71. Austin Burton says:

@parinaz — Duncan didn’t leave the bench “during an altercation,” which is the difference. When Elson fell on his head, no one on the Suns even acknowledged him, so Duncan (and someone else from the Spurs, I believe) getting up off the bench was no different than someone getting off the bench to celebrate a dunk. Amare and Diaw got suspended ’cause they left the bench while Horry and Raja Bell were having an altercation. The Suns screwed themselves over that year.

What fool needs 30 sharks in thier house? too much money, not enough common sense. hahahaha
but then again i blew up your post a bit to get my point across
what u mentioned about the spending isnt what rich people need to do
    sorry
but u mentioned people making cars
really?????? comon how many people get jobs while making 800 000 bentleys how many do they sell 5 a month
now if u tell me that the rich athletes by civics then i would kinda agree with u
one thing is u making money cuz one rich athlete buys 5 houses from u they go broke while u profit its smart for u but dont use it as an excuse to say is smart for them

im a engineer and i own my construcion company i would love it if those athletes came over an decided to but everyhouse or building i make but its not smart for them

    p dizzle
    evander didnt sign the letter?

  73. English Off The Glass says:

    Okay okay Ian

you got me there, i dont imagine that bently does really keep that many people in work and i can see what you mean.

One thing that does worry me is that we hav spent the whole day bitching about what overpaid fools do with their money ha ha ha i think we should move on. I’m out like Boguts Bank Manager

  74. K Dizzle says:

Who’s had the best career from the 2000 NBA Draft first round?
DIME, you guys owe me back the 3 minutes of my life tryin to decide who’s done anything important of the dudes you listed. Even in Canada, it’s almost forgotten that Magloire made the all-star team and I still don’t believe dude’s only 30. Ultimately, I’ll give it to K-Mart cuz i think he’s been an all-star and he’s been to the finals twice.
Get started on round 2 of the best backcourt of the past 20 so I can put Magic and Byron where they belong

    peace

i think i pick miller over kmart and hedo is the best right now prob

  77. parinaz suns says:

burton- yeah techinically they shouldnt have done that. but those two saw their leader go down and needed to chek on nash. they were being good teamates. the thing is the nba is so inconsistent they say that they were following hte letter of the law, but they are always doing different things in teh same situation. like for example take technicals some guys get away with murder while some guys may have a rep so they blink and they get one. its not like amare and diaw even did anything they went back to the bench so they shouldve let it slide. us suns fans are just bitter

  78. rangerjohn (IKE IS MY BITCH) says:

austin, there is no way to pull suns fans heads out on that suspension, they will always blame everyone except the players on their team. there is no changing that and we will hear about it for ever, or until they get a title oh wait, it will be forever before they win a title.

  79. Three Stacks says:

You can’t be mad at Andrew Bogut for saying what he thinks, which is actually really close to the truth. It’s a statistical fact that 60% of NBA ballplayers are either broke or file for bankruptcy within 5 years of retirement.

  80. Austin Burton says:

Let’s not forget that if Nash hadn’t overplayed Horry’s body-check, Amare and Diaw wouldn’t have felt the need to get up. That was a flop on par with when Nick Van Exel “shoved” the ref and he pretended to crash into the scorer’s table.

  81. parinaz suns says:

well nash just learned from being around the spurs, the kings of flopping, what kind of results you can get. the whole thing was stupid on everybodys part especially alvin gentry marc ivaroni and the rest of the coaching staff for not keeping the players in check. suns fans blame the team too its just the nba went to far with it and ruined a great series. we lost fair and square this year and we dont blame anybody but the suns for it. the suns need to sacrifice a goat or whatever to get rid of their bad luck

  82. Sam I Am says:

    @ Austin

    You a bama…

Damn callin out his “flop”…i’m sure the blood was fake too

The Spurs are all time flop masters next to Divac

so wow I for one am shocked

  83. yoda says:

i agree with bogut. players don’t understand that they are not companies and that they are workers so they will make money as long as they can work (play at high or close to high lvl). only one player can make tons of money years after he retired (MJ) based on his playing days. why players don’t look up at magic? dude made small cinema kingdom, and he made more money after he stopped playing then as a player. or look at shaq. he might be spending tons of money, but he makes so much money from his investions. and after all, if they don’t know how to invest money and they don’t have knowledge how to do it, they can hire somebody to invest for them.

  84. YOUNGFED says:

    I’m a semi-literate twit with a crack problem.

  85. Stepper says:

Let me just start out by saying fuck bogut, we heard his shit before. If some rich guy wants to buy cars thats his life and he can with his money as he wishes, you soft ass, crocodile dundee motherfucker. Prove your first pick status then talk, punk. If anyone becomes poor after making $100 mil, because they spent it in a stupid way, i wouldn’t care unless its me or someone i know. So lets stop talking like its our family members who are loosing all that money, and bogut, fuck you once more.

  86. rangerjohn (IKE IS MY BITCH) says:

    sam i am
did you watch the series? the blood came from him running into tony parker. no flops there, he head butted parker but the silly canuck didnt know how to do it right and bounced his nose off parkers head. that was a totally differnet game. and contrary to popular belief horry didnt do it.

nash is a huge flopper in his own right, and he sold that one, he sold it so well his own team fell for it.

suns fans need to just get over it.

  87. solomon says:

    enough…!

waste is shit… or shit is waste, whatever…

if you aint spending wisely, fine, just remind me to drop you a dime or something when i see you homeless and as dirty as shit… yeah matt geiger as ugly as he is has some legit grey matter in that freakin’ missile head of his… might be one of the glassiest but he aint gonna be broke in any time soon… and that funderburke guy, lefty banger turned bench warmer turned cheer leader kinda spent his benjamins wisely and now he’e writing books like he’s john maxwell or something…

spending wisely takes you far, holmes… and that alone, is a big WHAT IF for you to think about…

    we’re out like unwise spending…

  88. added says:

just remember the context that bogut is saying that to = it was in an australian newspaper made for australian readers…

read the whole thing – he doesnt even diss the bling culture – but is actually answering a question put to him as to what he does with his big new $$$ contract…

  89. Coop says:

    Brilliant sociological insight, Stepper.
