Knicks giving up a lot for Darko, ‘Melo likes Denver’s chances, and could you play D-League ball?
Zach Randolph, Dime #19Are the Grizzlies just effing with the Knicks or what? They’re already on the verge of blatantly robbing a 20-and-10 type power forward (in a League that, say what you want about Zach Randolph, doesn’t produce a lot of them) from the Knicks for quite honestly two of the worst basketball players in the NBA (Marko Jaric and Darko), then we hear they’re trying to get the Knicks to pay a big chunk of Z-Bo’s deferred salary, and now reports say Memphis is asking — or more like demanding — New York throws in a first-round pick with the deal. Do you think Grizzlies’ GM Chris Wallace is taking dares from other GM’s around the League, seeing how much he can get over on Donnie Walsh? Before this thing is done, the Knicks are gonna have Darko and Marko while the Grizzlies walk away with Zach, two first-round picks and the rights to Patrick Ewing’s next kid … Jaric has been in New York all summer — his fiancee Adriana Lima lives in the city — where he played in the Nike Pro City League (and got no burn) and regularly works out with David Lee and Nate Robinson. You know, Lee might wanna get some better workout partners if he’s ever going to become a better player. When he first came into the League, his two main workout buddies were Jared Jeffries and Channing Frye … Carmelo Anthony was asked in a recent interview about the Nuggets: “We’re good. As long as I’m there we’re all right. We have a shot at something. I think this will be an impressive season for the Nuggets. We’re motivated and want to prove that since we lost our defensive player of the year (Marcus Camby), our best defensive player on the team, we still can do it. That will bring everybody close this season.” Do you believe him? Denver has “exciting Lottery team” written all over them, but it’s tough to totally count out any team that has two of Top-15 players in the world … Michael Redd was honored at halftime of Saturday’s Ohio State football game for winning the gold medal. And in an interview with a local paper, Redd was asked about the Mo Williams trade. “I’ve seen Mo develop and mature to the player he is now, and he’s getting better,” Redd said. “You hate to see him leave, but it’s like, ‘Oh, well, it’s part of the business.’ He can score. He can make his own shot, create his own shot, get assists and get the team involved. He’s a good pickup for [Cleveland].” Good answer, but what are the chances that Redd is secretly glad Mo is gone and that the team has a PG in Ramon Sessions whose main objective is to pass him the ball? … Have you seen the Olympic Air Jordan Retro 1’s yet? Sick … Not like you would have noticed when the season starts, but Warriors benchwarming center Kosta Perovic — who as we recall, Baron Davis used to just call “Number 19″ or something along those lines — made the latest NBA-to-Europe move and signed with Pamesa Valencia (Spain). He’ll be on the same team with Shammond Williams … We heard that Stephon Marbury’s cousin, Jamel Thomas (Providence), is writing a tell-all book where he’ll certainly dish on Steph and Sebastian Telfair, among other things. It got us thinking: If you were assured that the author had to be truthful about everything, whose basketball tell-all book would you most want to read? David Stern and Michael Jordan obviously come to mind, but Isiah Thomas would also be a good one … If you’re interested and you’re good enough, a few D-League teams have open tryouts coming up soon. The expansion Reno Bighorns have tryouts scheduled for Sept. 13-14, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers have a tryout on the 13th in Texas and on the 19th in New Orleans, and the Dakota Wizards have one on Sept. 20-21. If you happen to bump into Lenny Cooke or Lester Earl, tell ‘em what’s up. Check out the entire D-League open tryout schedule HERE … We’re out like Perovic …

Best athletes, to me, is NBA. They’re the best combo of being big, strong, fast, jumping high, being able to move quick laterally, and be skilled while doing all of it. The NFL, other than some freak receivers (TO, Randy, Braylon, even a pre-coked out Matt Jones) and RBs (AD, LT, Westbrook), is a small step behind in terms of the ALL-AROUND athletic package (they’re typically stronger, but w/out the crazy hops.)
BUT NFL (and NHL) players are infinitely tougher than most (AI excluded) ballers.

Ranger… The NBA has better athletes overall while the NFL may have a few of the best individual athletes (some QBs, receivers, and RBs). Defensive linemen aren’t in shape enough to run a post route and a lot of other players are not very versatile. That being said I think in the NBA a starting 5 can play (with a height advantage/disadvantage) the other 4 positions on the floor fairly well.

How inferior of an athlete must Marko feel like when he’s working out with Nate and David Lee?
NFL players, for the most part, are faster (excluding linnemen) and stronger. The NBA requires more skill and everyone needs to be an all-around player where the NFL has specialists.

Also forgot to add Reggie Bush to the RBs list (though if we change it to a “productive RBs” list, i didn’t forget anyone!)
the thing is, you need a different body type for each sport. most guards are pretty tiny (and bigs would get their legs/knees DESTROYED.) You’d get snapped in half on the first play if you had CDR’s body.
@Gee, don’t know if you’re hating on soccer, but those guys are in GREAT shape. They’re not all-around athletic like these guys, but they run, non-stop for 2 45 min. halfs and there’s much more contact than most people give credit for (though not as much as Manu would let you think.) It’s no where near as much contact or athletically (all-around) challenging as football or basketball, but it’s not badminton either.

RB (Half) – Boom Dizzle
C- Shaq

athleticism to me means: speed, strength, jumping ability, quickness, lateral movement, and flexibility and having control of yourself while doing it. The NBA has the athletes with the best combo of ALL of those things imo.

Honestly, no “Lebron” caliber athlete is going to choose to be a fighter.

Eddy Curry is fat by NBA standards but compared to an NFL O-Line he would look ripped. If he was playing football he’d be enouraged to bulk-up – I could see him topping 450lbs as an NFL player – he would be an absolute monster – have you seen those new Pepsi commercials with Tono Romo? I did say pound for pound. If mma athletes had the size of pro ballers (both football and basketball) they could put up the similar numbers at the combine. Top fighters have dexterity, stamina and durability well beyond that of any team sports stars except for maybe soccer. If somebody like Floyd Mayweather or Urijah Faber had Lebrons size or anything close no pro baller from the NFL would step in the ring with them.
Also come to think of it a decathlete might be the best athlete in the world. Lebron is a freak athlete but how would he fair on those 10 events? Not very well.

GEE...new finishing move...the slap you silly says:
Naw man, compared to all them other cats that get on the field and make it. A.I. would be straight. You forgetting they wear pads, and the game is design to protect the QB and also it’s not like every hit is the one to end a career.
So A.I. would be straight. I ain’t saying eventually he wouldn’t get his but he would be cool for awhile.
If Marcus Vick could have been in the L. I most def. think A.I. would have been ok.

A lot of these guys are athletic for their size and thats the key, DH, LBJ are great athletes for 6′11 and 6′8. But say you have a guy who is 5′11 and lifts as much as LBJ, is normally faster, has more stamina then he’s a better athlete. It’s all about the combination you are looking for.
NFL players who are tall enough to play ball, wouldn’t have as much muscle, because they wouldn’t need that much bulk basketball and vice versa.

Might I add that people that put ‘no homo’ after ANYTHING EVER should be tortured then shot in the face at close range. Weezy F, you are a idiot. Go and get educated.
