I Love G-Shock Watches

Enhance Your FreshEnhance Your Fresh

For the last year or so I have been getting more into accessories. Nothing helps your fresh more than a hot hat, belt, or pair of shades. While all of those can enhance your look, I think the hottest part of an outfit could possibly be the watch one is wearing.

I was at a party recently and this girl had on jeans, some high heels, and a white wife beater. I thought her outfit was pretty plain until I saw the canary yellow big faced watch on her wrist.

I started getting my watch game up about seven months ago, and for the most part I have a decent collection. Nixon, Timex, Tag Heuer…just to name a few. But I find myself rocking one of my Casio G-Shock watches almost everyday.

I wasn’t sure what the whole craze behind G-Shocks was until I got my first one. I don’t use any of the functions; I honestly couldn’t tell you what they all are. I just rock them because of the look and the assortment of colors.

Heat!Heat!

I recently got my Usain Bolt on and copped an all white joint that has three straps which are the colors of the Jamaican National Flag (yellow, green, and black). I’m not Jamaican either…it’s just hot!

Besides the colors G-Shocks are mad durable too. My dad has this all red one that he has had since I was in high school. I wear it from time to time and the only maintenance he has had on it has been battery replacement.

This holiday season G-Shock is planning on dropping some heat. I saw some of them at a preview not too long ago and I cannot wait to try to flex my “Lifestyle Editor Muscle” and get me a few of them.

Christian that link is misspelled, all the swag you’ll get from there is some keylogger virus.

I went to a conference and the keynote speaker–who is the man in the field and is like 78 years old–was rocking a G-Shock with his Saville Row suit.

  3. Christian Grant-Fields says:

    @ Jim,
My bad. Try it again. It should work now.

Damn..78 with a G-Shock AND a Saville Row suit. He had to be an ol school playa. LOL

Oh yeah that G-Shock-LRG watch was strait fire.

  5. jimmhumm says:

They are so simple and basic but just something about them is cool.

  6. Coop says:

No offence but some of the atrocities that pass for ‘style’ in America have me in stitches.

  7. Christian Grant-Fields says:

    @ Coop,
What’s up man? Care to elaborate? Let us know about your style…

I prefer military style watches with canvas bands. An automatic like the Seiko 5. I agree that a watch can make a look though. I try to have one for athletics, hiking, work, dress ETC. Gets to be an expensive thing though.

you should put a pic up of the jamaican watch it sounds clean but can we get a picture!

    Christian,

I’m not having a dig as there’s a lid for every jar but in terms of Americans who are into basketball there seems to be a love of awful, luminous trainers lol and really quite gaudy clothing. Not subtle I think is what I’m getting at.
Personally I’m not interested in that sort of stuff, and certainly not anywhere other than a basketball court. I believe it’s common for guys to wear basketball shoes out in town or even out in the evening.

I’m more of a bespoke shirt, trousers with nice shoes kind of guy. Smart casual- formal I believe is what it would be labelled as.

G Shock watches are the Shark Freestyle watches of the 80′s. In 5 years from now you’ll end up kicking your own butt for wearing one.

  13. Jim says:

…except they have been popular for a long time already. I’m staying with my all-metal Seiko, but the G-Shock isn’t a fad.

  14. Gerard says:

Skagen till I can get a Movado.

  15. Josh says:

I see you Christian throwing your Tag out there! Isee you.

I dig a ‘BigBoy’ watch for work/hitting the club but it’s about those retro Casio’s man when your kicking it. I got silver and gold. I thought it’d be extra swag to get them try and get them coated…

I haven’t even worn a watch since my nice Timex broke. CGF, you gotta hook me up with a Canal Street Collections something for my wrist. You know we don’t have that in Seattle!

  21. Bondzai007 says:

I think Chris Brown was rocking a white one at the VMAs.

  22. iceman anaba says:

Those shocks are so durable, they are almost indestructible.I once gave out mine after over 5 years of abuse..and it wasn’t broken. Except for a few scratches, it was as good as the first day i copped them. My best feature(s) were the night light and stop watch. Right now, I am more into chronographs – they give me that business look.

  23. Jorisc says:

Like Coop I don’t really understand.

You know it’s the kind of watch I liked when I was 12 or 13…

Ok now I don’t wear one anymore but still, I’d choose something more “grown up”.

I think I’m not American and/or fashion enough to like it.
It’s the same for the basketball shoes you flash in Dime every now and them. I find them ugly to wear in the streets most of the time. In France the only people who would actually wear them should be of the “Teenage Gangsta/Rebel” type.

G shock watches rock.they look cool and ready for anything but unlike other designer watches g shock watches are very accurate and rugged as hell
