Jordan Blasé

Step Out In StyleStep Out in Style

Not to sound like I am that dude or anything, but I rarely have a problem when it comes to getting into clubs here in New York City. Even the ‘super exclusive’ ones, you name it I’ve partied there.

I have a strict rule I abide by when it comes to hitting the streets though; I DON’T GO ANY PLACE WHERE I CANNOT WEAR SNEAKERS. I mean, the elite clubs like Gold Bar don’t have a dress code, and changing the attire isn’t going to keep dudes from fighting in a club. They are just going to get it on in dressier clothing!

I know everyone isn’t like me. Dime’s own Lekeith Taylor is a walking GQ ad, and I ain’t mad at that at all. Young Keezy stays fresh.

The guys at Jordan Brand realize that some guys like to clean up a bit more than others, so they came up with a shoe that any guy could rock whether they are most comfortable in sneaks or like a cleaner look.

Step Out in Style

The Jordan Blasé, which drops October 1st, serves as footwear one can step out in. Whether you have a hot date or you’re hitting the streets with your boys after a game you can step out in style.

Both colors; black/white and white/deep burgundy drop October 1st. For more info hit up www.jumpman23.com.

This fool going after Prada and Gucci now

  2. Shage says:

I wonder how much it’ll cost.

  3. Christian Grant-Fields says:

    @ Shage,
    They’ll cost $85.

  4. Coop says:

Ah, to whoever I talked to about Anglo-American differences a while back, THIS is what im talking about.

Over here, if you went into a club with something like those on your feet, the bouncer wouldn’t even have the chance to chuck you out because you’d be laughed out of the building. Who on earth wears trainers into a club? lol

    Smarten up, Dime writer! :)

  5. dukesman2000 says:

I do not go anywhere where they do not have a dress code. Dress codes, I think, attract grown folks, whereas no dress code clubs attract mostly immature knuckleheads.

As for the Jordan brands, they should really get better designers. I never owned a pair of Jordan’s, because I never liked the designs. I have however, owned countless Pennies, Scotties, CB34’s, Grant Hills etc, but never a pair of Jordan’s. Believe me if MJ did not transcend sports the way he did and arguably still does, no one would buy his sneakers.

  6. Christian Grant-Fields says:

    @ Coop,
You really must have the sickest wardrobe ever.

I personally don’t wear hard bottom shoes to the club. I think it is unnecessary.

I know you’re style is bespoke shirts and slacks, but there are people who don’t dress like that. These are FAR from trainers.

… AND, I bet you a pocket full of Euros that I get into any spot across the pond. LOL.

  7. Coop says:

    haha okay dude.

Honestly it’s so odd to me; I’m not rich by any means, I can’t afford to look like Kanye West but I guarantee you’ll find no-one over 18 (and hence, in a club) in anything like that in London. A pub, for sure, but not anywhere meant for the night.

Maybe you’re a 300lb behemoth, in which case you probably would get in anywhere and could do whatever you like haha.

p.s out of interest, if they’re not trainers what are they? :)

  8. loganlight says:

These are nice… though I need to see them in person before I can make the call.

  9. loganlight says:

Oh, and the brown ones they have are serious…

  10. Sam I Am says:

I like the white & Tan colored ones..they look nice and can def go with khakis and a white polo

  11. Christian Grant-Fields says:

    @ Coop,
I’m not 300lbs at all. I just have swag. LOL.

When you say ‘trainers’ I am thinking cross trainers. These are stylish sneakers.

  12. Coop says:

    Hmm…maybe if it’s phenomenal haha

ok, what you call sneakers i call trainers. I think what you call trainers (in terms of basketball) i probably call basketball shoes.

Lid for every jar, eh?! :)

  13. Christian Grant-Fields says:

    True! Lol.

So where are you from exactly? And you mean to tell me NO ONE wears kicks….um trainers in the club? Lol.

    -CGF

  14. Kudabeen says:

    Sneaks are hott.

    SNEAKER HEADS!!

Can Anyone tell me a good site to buy older kicks. I’m looking for the Team Jordan Chin Checkas (Checkers) Roy Jones kicks…The all black ones. They came out in like 2002/2003. I can’t find them any where…

  15. kermit the washington says:

Yo man, you just said “I don’t go anywhere where I can’t wear sneakers”, and then followed it up by saying that you don’t believe a dress code will keep dudes from fighting in clubs. I would be willing to bet that the majority – not ALL – but the majority of dudes that are most likely to fight in a club will say the exact same thing: “I don’t go anywhere where I can’t wear sneakers”. You just highlighted the point of the dress code right there.

  16. Ian says:

    christian
if u vacation in dominican republic dont bring those shoes here
u gotta go GQ to get in the best places here
u use sneakers the bouncers laugh at u
thats the problem most american tourist have here dress code.

like coop said if theres no dress code im not going
everyoneee does everything gq style here
and im sorry to say this but usually the places that let un in sneakers here u can get shot at

  17. Christian Grant-Fields says:

    Fellas,
I am a sneakerhead. I LOVE ‘em. Please don’t be fooled, my suit game is crazy. I get fresh in any weather. The point that I am trying to make is that not everyone likes to dress like Coop and Ian.

Kermit..do I know you? Because everything I post you seem to have issue with. LOL. Nah, real talk. The places I go bouncers don’t even search you. Are you in NYC? Hit the streets with me one night. You’ll see what’s up!

    -CGF

  18. Ian says:

again christian u gotta understand that people in dr arent in the middle usually either u have money and go gq and get to go to the best clubs or u r poor and usually use sneakers and baggy clothes. thats why its impossible for them to get in.

for example if u use here the type of clothes black athletes use and all that gold people will laugh at u and call u “chopo”.

  19. Ian says:

and its cuz of the place u live trust me if u lived here man u would own only one pair of sneakers
prob some weird ass pumas for the gym thats it
after that is all shoes bro

  20. GEE...currently pop locking and then the windmill! says:

I think it all goes to just more than the joints you wear on your feet. It’s about the whole fit.

I mean, while I don’t really care for these, if your whole ensemble is like that, then you prolly could get in most clubs on the land or off.

I got to back CGF on this. 1. Swag. 2. These shoes ain’t that bad to the point where it should hinder you from certain places, unless you are “totally” dressed like a clown.

I have gone to spots that have dress codes and don’t, and at both it is what it is. Sure the ones that don’t have them tend to have more fights …more is the word there. Cause even ya trendy and high-class spots can get a lil rowdy if the right thugs come dressed up lol.

  21. Ian says:

christian u can hit some bars and restaurants in sneakers but they have to be lacoste or some brand like that not sports related brand

  22. Ian says:

    gee
u r prob right but i did mention dr cuz i live here. u cant get in with sneakers period doesnt matter the place(of course the good ones).

  23. Christian Grant-Fields says:

    @ Ian,
Is it really segregated like that? Wow. So then the girls at the upscale clubs gotta be bad huh!? Lol. Let everyone know where you’re from exactly…

I see you Gee!! ‘My swagger on a hundred-thousand-trillion!!!” LOL

    -CGF

  24. GEE...currently pop locking and then the windmill! says:

Ian you said period! So there is never an exception to the rule. So like if a big time celebrity or someone who the dr is just crazy about came lookin nice but had on some sneakers, he couldn’t get in?

If it is that tight, that is crazy. Again you live there so you know better than me.

Call it cocky or confidence, but I bet with the right fit and all….I still get in lol.

CGF No one on the corna pimpin…no one on the corna.

  25. Quest??? says:

im like u christian, i donnt go to a club if i have to wear dress shoes. now this shoes are hot and i know that if i buy them my mom will stop bothering me about the way i dress.

  26. Quest??? says:

omg ian where do u party??? fonzworth bentley’s gentleman club??

  27. Coop says:

    Christian,

Yeah I’m getting at your style or anything, each to their own bud! Like Ian said, where I’m from you won’t see too many guys with trainers on, and those that do are usually less than privileged (I mean that not in a bad way), and if you’re in a nice bar/club then not at all.

P.S I’m from Hertfordshire in England, which is about 30mins from London.

  28. Christian Grant-Fields says:

    @ Coop,
I feel you. Different strokes for different folks. Hertfordshire. I am not familiar. Do you guys party in London or is it poppin out your way?

For some reason I imagine every guy out there dressing like Thomas Crown or David Beckham…two dudes who STAY fresh. Lol

    -CGF

  29. Coop says:

Also, it’s worth noting that this isn’t necessarily a class thing (as it may seem). From what I understand, American guys spend a fair amount on basketball shoes (though not as much as us- exchange rates! haha!) and a pair of shoes (proper shoes) don’t cost much more, if at all. I mean, it’s more of a cultural thing imo; sports are much more a part of everyday life over your way I feel.

  30. Coop says:

    haha,

Beckham has some nice stuff. Sometimes he’s a bit leftfield but i wouldnt mind having his money to do stuff like that.

Hertfordshire is okay, it’s very expensive as it’s close to London. London is where i’ll be for a birthday or big night, otherwise i’ll stay local.

  31. Ian says:

hey thats what i meant about cultural stuff.

gee my man bring your shoes cuz u aint getting in
and the celebrities that have come over here
pitt deniro and jolie have been the latest u wont see them in jordan sneakers they usually are told before hand how to go to the clubs and restaurants.

the think is basketball shoes are associated with people from bad neighborhoods here

    quest
im sayin u want a club with the best of everything u gottas go GQ
even ifthe bouncers dont notice the sneakers trust me u dont want to be there because u will be laughed at.
quest lets say here u go to a bar early evening usually u see either shoes or some slipons (lacoste polo diesel) jeans or pants a nice shirt and a nice watch NO BLING. that doesnt seem like that club u mentioned does it?

    christian
trust me ull love the girls and everyone here no one is stockup (dont know if thats the word) everyone is friendly doesnt matter if the place is high end

now if u break out jordans bling and a cap NOONE will talk to u

  32. GEE...currently pop locking and then the windmill! says:

lol aight Ian I am bringin the shoes lol. That is crazy though how it’s different (drastically) so many places.

Imma find Deniro and tell him rock some “nice” J’s to a scene lol.

  33. Big Shot BOB says:

I hear ya CGF…In SF there really are no clubs that let you wear sneaks and I feel the same way about dress shoes. If that’s not your usual style it just makes you feel funny and uncomfortable the whole night. Plus hard shoes don’t exactly match some of the gear I got like a fresh pair of J’s. Hopefully this new J’s will fly with the bouncers though. I have some all black fours that at first sight has gotten me past the dress code but whenever they look more closly I never get in and end up having to walk back to the car no matter where’s it’s parked to change into “just in case wallies.” Not to mention J’s are just more comfortable for dancing.

I never got the whole fight thing with dress shoes anyway. When your stomping on a guys face it hurts way more in church shoes then in soft bottom J’s…LOL

  34. Coop says:

So Bob, what do you wear with these trainers? Jeans and something is it? They let guys into clubs like that? That’s uber-casual! haha

  35. Quest??? says:

Bob thats cuz u probably entering gay clubs

  36. Gerald says:

I for one think that you can go to a club with sneakers aka trainers and look clean and grown up. Of course you got to do it right, you can’t go in wearing some old, dirty Nike’s that you play flag football in. I like to switch it up and wear dress shoes in places too, but any bar or club that will judge you and laugh at you if your wearing those sick Jordan’s above, I’m not trying to be in that kind of spot anyway!

  37. Ian says:

gee lol u imagined that shit deniro getting bounced because of the shoes

bob u r right on the uncomfortable part i for one feel weird wearing sneakers so i can understand the other side also

but people usually the people i see here going out in sneakers dont respect shit and go out with the biggest jeans they find ugly ass tshirt and a cap

if any u guys come i shit u not my friend u wont see a single nike adidas reebok on the streets ull see pumas and lacoste mostly

    gerald
    is not like that
u will have a good time is just that u have to go with the rules of the country u r in

for example here u cant go see movies in shorts and when i was a kid u couldnt go to arcades in shorts (even i thought that one was stupid)
i can understand the movies part there is nothing more annoyin than having a 300lbs dude with cargo shorts and flip flops next to u eating nachos

  38. Ian says:

    lol post 35

  39. Ian says:

big shot we do that if
keepin the shoes and shirts in the car
cuz sometimes u r out early in some pumas and a polo and try to get in places like that

  40. Gerald says:

    Ian,

yeah man I hear you. I was talking more about if I were going out here in Vancouver or anywhere in the States. But if Im abroad Im definitely respectful to how things are done there. Like they say…when in Rome. I bet I’d have a great time going out to wherever you’re at!

  41. Ian says:

of course man the friendliest(is that shit a word) people ull meet are latin people (except some crazy mexican now and then) but u here ull never see a fight in good club and u dont see ugly bitches(they prob are some in the morning but hey whos judging). plus we have the best prices. now im talking about the city cuz if u hit a hotel and the beaches u now u can go out however u like. i dont want anyone coming reading this and bringing armani suits if they are going to a hotel at the beach.

  42. SteveNash says:

i got kicked out of bungelo 8 and pink elephant for riding my skateboard

  43. Joakim Noah says:

So if I came dressed like this,

    http://www.joakimnoah.org/images/joakim-noah-pic1.jpg

    could I get in?

  44. QuEsT???? says:

man in PR we go with sneackers but we look fresh though u know, only the real rich ppl go to parties with long sleeved shirts, dress pants and shoes and they almost get kicked out. and it must be uncomfortable dancing like that

  45. QuEsT???? says:

    where r u from ian>?

  46. Adrian Zapata says:

    Ok,

If you come to South Texas (San Antonio & south) & go to any real club with sneakers, you wont be let in. No if’s or but’s, you cant wear that shit down here.. (maybe in houston)

  47. QuEsT???? says:

@ adrian thats right partnerrrrrrrr , yall the dress code down therreee is anything with a cowboy hat and brown leather boots yeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaawwwwwwwwwwwwwww

  48. QuEsT???? says:

becareful now there have been a lot of cowjackings there so when yall go up to the club with yo cow strap it up giddy upppppppppp

  49. solomon says:

    nice kicks, tho…

  50. iain. says:

    @Coop/Christian,

I’m from Essex (neighbouring county of Hertfordshire) and any club here you’d get in with those joints easily, especially the black ones.

Fashion is constantly changing and sneakers are more accepted as part of a ‘going out’ outfit now more than ever..

Also, i was watching some VMA highlights the other night and Weezy had on the skinny jeans! That is unthinkable like a year ago..

  51. iain. says:

oh and Coop, do you play ball? If so, you playing national league this year? Theres a couple nice teams in Hertfordshire so i’m told..

  52. English Off The Glas says:

    I gotta agree with Iain.

but what u gotta understand is that their are different places who ahve different ideas of what casual and smart is. My man got turned away from a club in london for wearing a black shirt and having a shaved head, no lie.

I could walk into half the clubs round here bustin these jumps, but the other half would send me packin. Christian, be happy you live in the US, cos if you avoided any place witha dress code in England, you would be havin some lonely cab journeys home.

  53. Coop says:

    haha true English.

    Iain,

Yeah I play ball. Not good enough for national league though. Used to play for the RAF team (I work for the MoD on a RAF camp) but I don’t play that seriously any more unfortunately. I take it you do? I think north herts has some good players (that Stevenage/WGC area) but the local team around here is poor tbh. haha.

  54. Ian says:

    quest
    dominican republic

  55. iain. says:

The RAF have got a sweet Basketball setup, my friend used to play and he got paid time off to play tournaments etc thats cool man. Yeh i’m playing national league, first year in mens div 2. Should be good.. And you live on a camp I heard a little rumour they have Taco Bell’s on the Military camps over here is that true? lol..

  56. Big Shot BOB says:

@Quest hey man that’s a small district in SF where there are gay clubs…if you’ve never been to SF don’t make comments like that. There are gay districts in every city…so I don’t see why people always associate Sf with fags like this is the capitol or some ish.

  57. Quest??? says:

im sry if i offended u bob is was just a joke, everybody @ ian eso es dominicano yo soy puertorriqueno

  58. Ian says:

    ohh quest somos vecinos casi

    big shot
u r right everyone thinks sf is the gay capital of the world ive never been but thats what people say
