Josh Childress = Euro Jordan
Today, TrueHoop came across the first video highlights of Josh Childress playing in Greece. You can almost hear NBA players across the League saying, “Wait, I can get paid and dominate like I did in high school?!”

To each his own. He’s still ballin’ and I’m sure he’s playing a lot more now than he ever did for the hawks.
And what Mox said about hot Euro chicks…some of them greek girls aint no joke. haha

Prof. TX says:
He made the smart move. I’d love for my job to be moved overseas and have my salary doubled, and to be treated like a star.
Some people talk about earning respect in the NBA, or wanting to be in the greatest league. I’m sure Josh will think real hard about that when standing outside his mansion trying to decide which aston martin to drive today, and which supermodel is coming with him.
If you aren’t Jordan, then go to where you will be. It’s not like it’s Usain Bolt running in the special olympics or something.

DellCurryFan says:
As long as a player is not concerned about Legacy, like a Bron or Kobe might be at this point in their career, they should just go to Europe, it is a pretty great deal.

Dagomar says:
Uh, I dunno man. Playing in a highschool atmosphere against lesser competition . . . sure, the money’s great, but what a falling off. If I were trying to be great at something I’d think of it as a huge step down. And yeah European girls are hot, but when you make millions finding how girls shouldn’t be a problem anywhere.

Diego says:
Josh can ball. He got plenty of minutes with the Hawks, had great stats and was better than Marvin. He could play 3 positions–and frankly was the best Hawks’ point guard. (Yes, sportsfans, he sometimes played the point.)
And he was a personable cat. I also would put him an odds on favorite for NBA (or former NBA, in his case) baller most likely to frequent dimemag.com. (No, I’m not him.)

Fleks says:
Wait, right now it is only pre season. As an European that knows well Greek basketball you will see things can change drastically in no time in Europe.
If his club wins he will be a god.
If the club loses, he will be treated like crap by the fans, especially in a country like Greece (Greek fans are no joke seats and quarters might be flying) and may even be fired in no time (but I doubt his club crashes as it is one of the two great favorites of the Greek league).

heartbreaker85 says:
most american players play for money. that’s not something people don’t already know. that’s why you get guys like spree saying ‘i cant feed my family with JUST xx million dollars.’ they’re laughing at him and stuff, but in reality everyone did/does/will do the same thing, just not going to say it out in the open. arenas signed up for 111 million right instead of the 120? whoop dee doo. how generous, sacrificing nine million? please.
the nba is the biggest market out there for players to gain popularity and endorsements, but there are a lot of better players in other leagues that wont make it there because of politics/ lack of scouting/ bigger pay overseas.
what josh childress did was realistic.
think if you were working the fries at burger king, and someone told you you could be an office representative in some other country wearing a coat and tie with bigger pay, what would you do?
keep it real.

karizmatic says:
Well it all depends on perspective, who didn’t know/expect Childress to dominate? That is exactly why he can get paid more over there, he’s simply worth more to Greece than he is to the NBA, on the other hand after you get paid, is it enough to just dominate the B leagues or are you gonna want to see how you stack up against the best of the best? Depends on the type of person you are.

excuse me? euro-jordan? I saw one block and one dunk. in a preseason or trainingcamp-game. and you’re all talking like he just won the euroleague or something. can we talk about this in 6 month? I’ve seen so many “Euro-Jordans” coming and going before. Not very often was it the big names, that were dominating players in europe.
