Monta Ellis Was Riding a Moped
Monta at ABCD campYou know someone in Vegas just made a big chunk of money after putting some dough down on the likely odds that Monta Ellis‘ injury came while riding some sort of two-wheeled vehicle (moped, motorcycle, etc.) That is in fact how he got hurt, in a “low-speed” accident on a moped in his hometown of Jackson, Miss. (It still would have been worth throwing down $10 with 1-in-2,000 odds that it was a tetherball accident.)
Riding a moped is one of the activities prohibited under the uniform player contract - thus, the Warriors could completely nullify the six-year, $66-million deal Ellis just signed. But that seems unlikely. Instead, Monta could be fined - when Vlad Radmanovich separated his shoulder in a snowboarding accident that he originally said was because he slipped walking on ice, the Lakers levied a $500,000 penalty on him, roughly one-tenth of his salary.
If the Warriors went after the same proportion of Monta’s money, they could take $6.6 million back from him. As of right now, no decisions have been made and they won’t be until both sides sit down about two weeks from now.

I was thinking about looking into the vegas-odds on Monta’s injury a few weeks ago! I knew it was a motorcycle! You could tell by the comments made from doctors who talked about his injury that he fell sideways or down off somthing - not a basketball injury.
The Warriors should take 6.6 milllion from him. No way this kid deserves to get rich for sitting on his ass because he was goofing off and hurt himself.

He should get fined the maximum amount. He knew that he wasn’t supposed to be riding a moped, but didnt really care.
If I’m making 7-8 figures a year and am told that if I ride a motorcycle and get hurt riding it, I could have MY ENTIRE CONTRACT NULLIFIED, f that, I’m only going places in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles word to John Candy and Steve Martin.

they have some pretty bike mopeds these days, i was driving up I-45 a couple days ago going about 70 mph and there was a moped with 2 people on it riding right next to me. it was kind of funny, but then i thought, one has a helmet, the other does not, that could be UGLY if they fell. (i have a motorcycle license and have taken classes, they show some nasty motor cycle wrecks if you stay after class some)

thus montay could be fined 1.1M = 11M * 10%, not 6.6M

I am a Warriors fan, but I would void his contract. I think he is overpaid, and after loosing Baron I think the Warriors need to blow up a lot of the roster(I am not sure what the Warriors were thinking inking Maggette), and start over. Yeah they may lose a lot of games in the short run, but Monta is not a franchise player.
