Rodney Stuckey Will Play 30 Minutes Per Game
Chauncey and Stuckey will play full gamesAfter tearing it up this summer as part of the USA Select Team, Rodney Stuckey is heading into Pistons’ camp behind one of the game’s top point guards – but that doesn’t mean that he’s buried on the bench. Detroit’s new coach Michael Curry will find time for his second year point guard, and he’ll find plenty of it.
Curry has called Stuckey his “sixth starter,” over the summer, a clear indication that the second-year guard from Eastern Washington who missed the first 25 games of his rookie season with a broken hand, is in line to play 30 minutes or so a game. As he exhibited in Las Vegas, first playing with the Pistons’ Summer League team and then participating with the U.S. Select Team against the American Olympians, Stuckey has improved the consistency and range on his jump shot, making his devastating off-the-dribble game even more potent.
Can Stuckey produce along the lines of the Leagues preeminent “sixth starters” – Manu Ginobili, Leandro Barbosa, and Jason Terry, who all put up strong fantasy-caliber numbers seeing roughly 30 minutes a night? Seeing 50% more burn per game than he did last year, Stuckey should be matching Terry and Barbosa in that 15-point per game range.
And playing at the same time as Billups shouldn’t be a concern, as Stuckey won’t have to change his game to see the floor. Stuckey has worked on his shooting this summer, but make no mistake about it – with a knockdown shooter like Chauncey on the floor, Stuckey will be the one to play point.
“Chauncey and Rodney have different types of games,” Pistons vice president Scott Perry said, “but I don’t think the game plan changes. Rodney is a guy who is able to get to the basket, penetrate and score. Chauncey made his name as a big-time perimeter shooter. But both of those guys will do whatever is asked of him to make the team better and I can see those guys playing together, too.

Such hate… IT’S THE MIDDLE OF SEPTEMBER, or course it’s a slow news day. These guys just don’t get it… sheesh.
I worry about Stuckey. I know he has game, but I don’t know if he is the NEXT Chauncey. I hope I eat my words, but there is a lot of pressure on Detroit to get into the Finals again… and win. I hope Rodney doesn’t crack.

Tyrone said, Rodney Stuckey is an NBA level player. He plays basketball very well. Stuckey can elevate really high when he jumps and has the ability to make good passes to his teammates, leaving them in a great position to score.

HAAHAHA. Nice ^
Yes. Stuckey is gonna be great this year…Don’t be surprised to see Stuckey, Billups, and Hamilton on the floor with Prince at the PF and Sheed at the C….
After watchign Stuckey carve people up…what was that Billups guy’s first name…I’m starting to forget…no no just kidding guys…
But he will be the reason the Pistons beat the Celtics and get to the Finals this year….believe that.
Oh, and Stuckey will win 6th man of the year this year too.
And speaking of awards, Kwame Brown will win comeback player of the year…I can’t remember if the NBA actually has that award.

6′ 5″ is undersized for a 2 guard? he’s playing PG anyways, so it won’t matter.
