The Best Backcourt of the Last 20 Years: Showtime
Magic on the cover of SI in ‘87Despite everyone’s fears that the pervasive love for His Airness’s would boost him and B.J. Armstrong ahead of Magic Johnson and Byron Scott in a popularity contenst, the ‘88-89 Showtime Lakers topped the ‘92-93 Bulls according to your votes, 39-36 to be the definitive Best Backcourt of the Last 20 Years.
Props to everyone who actually read through the rules, which clearly stated that this wasn’t a two-on-two battle. In fact, we were judging the best backcourt within the context of a team game, a full five-on-five run. And with that, it makes sense that Magic and Scott took the crown. At that point in his career, Magic dominated games without needing to score, finding his teammates for buckets when they didn’t even know that they were open. And that ‘88-89 season was the second-best over the entirety of Scott’s career.
No insult to Michael, but after all, maybe there are some contests that he wouldn’t win.

Your pathetic jealousy made you miss the point. Considering how much better Scott was than Armstrong, the closeness of the voting shows Jordan’s strenght. I had a very hard time making my choice. You, on the other, actually take this poll as a win for your fanatic ways. Come on, grow some balls and start acting like a man, not some petulant pre-pubescent teenager…

i dont hate michael and i dont like him either
but the thing is he got 2 rounds further than what he should because many people were voting based on a 2 on 2 contest. i stated that this is within a team concept and got blasted by soom fools with that still havent taken off their jordan goggles. bj was by far the worst player in all the tournament no way the bulls shoulda made the finals.
now if the contest were to be a best duo i dont mind seeing them in the finals (even though i can think of at least 5 duos better)

Seems like the Bulls backcourt did alright for itself within a team concept.

Of course Ian, I was on the fence (and eventually voted for the Bulls) but I could totally see myself going the Showtime route. It was just the idiocy of the ‘Yay, Screw Mike’ comment that got me going – I’m an Orlando fan, I just hate this kind of idiotic trash-talking.

@ Quedas
Seriously,
In all fairness my choice was Isiah & Joe D. … the concept of Jordan rules, Jordan can do it by himself, Jordan can punish whoever…
ok that’s fine if it was 1 on 5
The fact that he stays getting props for things he will forever need a TEAM to do is annoying when jerk offs like you want to come on and blast me…
SCREW YOU WHORE
