We Reminisce: Cedric Ceballos Lights Up The Timberwolves For 50

Remember Cedric Ceballos? Dude played on that exciting Los Angeles Lakers squad with Nick Van Axel, Vlade Divac and Eddie Jones. He was one of those inside-outside players, and finished just about everything around the basket. Peep this video of Ceballos unleashing his entire offensive arsenal on the Minnesota Timberwolves back during the 1994-95 season. During the 1994-95 season, Ceballos averaged 21.7 points and eight boards per game, while shooting over 50 percent from the field.

Ahhh…when Eddie Jones was a badass and Nick the Quick was actually quick. We can’t forget Ced though. Lakers were a big man away from being pretty tough that year. I think even Del Harris won coach of the year that year for them.

They were fun, I think they called ‘em The Lake Show that year. Remember when Kobe first arrived on the scene and it was him on one wing and Eddie Jones on the other? Nasty.

Not so sure this isn’t Minnesota that Cedric’s spankin’ on; those jerseys with Wolves on the front were a 90’s highlight staple (receiving end), and I think I spotted Dream Team bellhop Christian Laettner in there.

Kobe gets 50 points in his sleep.

Dime is tryin’ the “50 Point Redemption” route since slippin’ on Delk this morning.

I think Ced the Entertainer dropped 50 in a charity game once - throw that up there too. lol

Ceballos was dope for a while. He had the highest fg % one year, then the next vacationing during the season was appearantly the thing for him to do… I still can’t believe he said he was sick and got caught in another state playing around on a lake…

    @ that’s whats up

LIES! that was ice cube or roger lodge in that celebrity league.

  7. that's whats up says:

I caught a Lakers/Wolves pre-season game in 1995 at The Forum in L.A. It was Garnett’s rookie season and Ceballos was coming off his first year in L.A. and the best season of his career. Ceballos gets the ball in the post, backs down KG, spins on him and dunks the shit out of the ball right on KG’s head…..then starts yelling “He’s not ready!!! He’s not ready!!!” so loud you could hear it in the parking lot. KG didn’t say shit.

I guess KG gets the last laugh on that one

  8. bballinca says:

Ceballos was fun to watch. LA fans got tired of him when he got caught riding on a Sea-doo in lake havasu when he said he was out sick or injured and unable to play.

  14. MoxWestCoastRep says:

The Lake Show led by nick the quick was HOT!

  15. S-SiN says:

Props for bringing bak another one! and then Ced got traded for Rob Horry.. Lake Show were an offensive powerhouse back in Ediie Jones’ rookie year (has it been that long?), but couldn’t defend or cared less..
Vladi Dodi is the goof, it’s funny someone can be mad at Vlade! didn’t he use to smoke cigarettes in the lockeroom?

  16. solomon says:

damn, another example how a 50 point game doesn’t guarantee a lifelong career in the L…

    delk…

    ceballos…

    the list goes on…

There is a clip in this bunch of Eddie Jones. Dude was one of the most savvy smooth players ever in the league. He was an underrated player that should have beat his chest a little more to get the attention he deserved. I use to have his poster on my wall making one of his akward dunks going away from the basket. I look at Kobe’s game and his dunk (the reverse dunk that shouldn’t be a dunk) and think about him and Eddie going at it at practice under the watchful eye of Byron Scott.

I wish NBA practices were taped and avaialble. I would love to see the Scottie vs MJ, Kobe vs Eddie type match ups…
