(Almost) Daily Fantasy

Shaun LivingstonHe’s back!

The (Almost) Daily Fantasy is back. Here are today’s players that you should concern yourself with.

Johan Petro – The other day someone in our office was desperate for a center to pick up off waivers (evidently the draft didn’t go so well). I recommended Petro. I’m looking good right now. Johan has had some insane preseason games. Even with the return of Robert Swift (who you should keep an eye on) Petro had 17 points, 5 boards, 3 steals and 3 blocks. Petro has been pretty consistently blocking shots. He’s a decent pick up if you’re center hunting. Keep in mind, he actually had a few big nights last season and then would disappear… for weeks.

Matt Barnes – My favorite sleeper had12 points, 5 boards, 7 dimes, 1 steal and 2 threes in his first game as the official starter of the Suns. If you haven’t drafted yet, he’s close to no longer being considered a sleeper.

Spencer Hawes – 25 and 16? Spencer went bananas last night and with Brad Miller out for the first couple of games for smoking the green stuff, Spencer isn’t a bad week one 2nd center. If he has one game that is anything close to last night, you’ll get your money worth.

Marquis Daniels – I hated on Marquis at our “expert” draft. My partner wanted him badly with one of our last round picks and I pretty much refused. Marquis went undrafted, but is becoming an intriguing week one fantasy option. With Mike Dunleavy hurt (and questionable for the first game), Daniels has been filling in very well. He made my column a number of times last season. He has terrible knees and teases you with big games. I’m still not a long term believer.

Rasho Nesterovic - It’s easy to forget, but Rasho had a little fantasy value last year. If he’s the starting center in Indiana (Jeff Foster and the Hibbert are also battling for time) he might have a little waiver wire potential. Last night he had14 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks. FYI – in my 14 team league, Rasho went undrafted.

Shaun Livingston - No fantasy value yet, but the kid returned to the floor last night, which many thought would never happen. The Heat backcourt is a mess and Miami would love love love Livingston to be the man come second half. Keep an eye out.

Would you pick up Banks, Chalmers, or Livingston?

  2. Hebrew Thunder says:

    D. None of the above

  3. Just a Fan says:

What are your guys thoughts on dropping Raja bell for Q-rich? Actually, what do I need? I’m in a 12 man keeper league and I have

    Areanas (from last year)
    Iggy (from last year)
    Rudy Gay
    Brandon Roy
    Gerald Wallace
    AK47
    Al Harrington
    Darko
    Dalembeast
    Beno Udrih
Marbury (gamble in the 11th round)
    Rodney Stuckey
    Brandon Bass
    Raja Bell

I think I need a center but nothing really good on the waivers. Thanks guys for your suggestion.

  4. The Fantasy Doctor says:

You definitely could use a center, but you also really need guard help – specifically assists. Is Duhon out there?

    I’d keep Bell over Q.

  5. Just a Fan says:

Thanks Fantasy Doc. Duhon is already taken. I’ll keep Bell for the time being and look for my assist help. Stevey blake is out there. I know he’s one of your favorite fantasy players. I’m playing h2h if that matters.

For the time being, my future rest on my 4th tier pgs. Come on Beno!!

  8. QuEsT??? says:

i have been playing fantasy nba for about 5 years now and i still dont know what a keeper league is.. can somebody explain to me?

  9. Three Stacks says:

A keeper league is basically when you have holdovers on your team from a year to year basis. For example, if you had that team listed in the question before yours, you could pick 3 players to keep on your team for the following year.

The drafting rules based on keepers differ from league to league, I think, but in my league, you lose your pick for the round you drafted the player in. Again, for example, if I drafted Hedo Turkoglu in the 11th round last year and decided to keep him, I’d lose my 11th round pick this yr.

    That’s pretty much it.

  10. QuEsT??? says:

oh ok thats pretty kool then… yo anyone out there missing a player for the fantasy league let me know ill play.

  11. loganlight says:

    @ dmitry of jersey

Sup Fam, I just signed up for your league under Logan’s RUN.

Let me encourage some other heads to get involved!

  12. sans says:

who should I start, Thad Young or Bargnani in my GFC spot. Could always use more 3s. Got boards set, should get a lot of points on the board, but I don’t really have too many guys that will grab loose balls and hustle like Thad on my squad.

  13. QuEsT??? says:

yo dmitry im in ur league now

  14. QuEsT??? says:

    DQ AllStars is my team

  15. The Fantasy Doctor says:

Sans – Go with Thad for now. See what Bargnani does.

D.H. – good squad, but you’re in trouble with blocks. Especially if (and when) JO goes down. you need a back up plan there. You can cut Boobie.

  16. MoxWestCoastRep says:

Yo! Im in the Fant L. Holla from the Left Coast

  17. rodnets says:

Walter He-Man HerrMann 6th man of the year

  18. sans says:

Jerryd Bayless is definitely a better pick up than Gerald Green, right? I hope Gerald breaks out this year and all, but I’m already stashing Manu and Gil, so bench space is light on my squad.

  19. josh tha roc says:

blatche? he is on my bench, i have amare and Al Jeff, what do you think he’ll do this yr? I saw him vs nets and he looked great and then terrible.
