Better Dunker: Clyde Drexler or Carmelo Anthony?
Underrated for different reasons: Clyde because he played in the same era with MJ and ‘Nique, ‘Melo because he’s more of a scorer than a dunker and is just as content dropping in a finger roll as he is dropping a jaw with a banger. And it’s not included in the video, but any discussion of ‘Melo and dunking has to include THIS.
Exhibit A: The Glide
Exhibit B: ‘Melo

I may be a big blazer homer, but this is crazy. ill give melo that that was a nasty olympic dunk, but it was against inferior competition in a different type of league. if clyde played in the international game not counting the 92 olympics he woulda had plenty. the free throw line dunk by clyde against la was probably the best dunk in an nba game i have ever witnessed. thats how you get nicknamed the glyde

Man,I think that’s one of tho most unbalanced scrimmages dime has ever posted. I’ll go with Clyde, and my choice is based more on his style and dunk power rather than Carmelo lack of dunk talent. In my opinion Carmelo can’t be placed at the same level,he is young and bla bla bla but even though I cannot imagine Melo flushing it like Clyde did.
I’m out like Beasley being MVP.

Drexler, by far.
Not only did he play with tougher defensive rules, but he played in the golden age of defensive bigs. It was a lot harder to get to the rim than it is today, and he could still fly through all that traffic.

That dunk was on tv everynight in every house in america for like ten years. It is probably top 3 if not the number one dunk in the history of the sport. Not a slam dunk contest. Pure humiliation for the lakers. Props to the man and the blazers!

i’ll go with the glide on this one, mostly because drexler really, really, really dunked. melo likes shooting the rock and doing finger rolls more than dunking.
that free throw line throw down against the lakers is probably one of the sickest things i’ll ever see in my life. and that slam against the admiral was sick too.
gotta give melo props though, he totally posterized yao on that last one.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? WTF has Melo done? Clyde would plant a facial on anyone in the league. Melo just wants a forty and the keys to his car. Clyde was and always be my favorite Blazer ever! #22 forever!
October 4th, 2008 at 1:02 pm
Dave says:
As already said, this comparison is ludicrous. A better question would be, “Who is the best in-game dunker in league history - Clyde Drexler or Shawn Kemp?”
Despite Kemps awesomeness, I’ll go with Clyde on this one. His body of work involving rim-rattlers, all in the natural flow of the game, was unsurpassed.

@YGB — About the Jazz, I have a feeling Boozer will opt out, so unless they re-sign him this would be the last shot. But I don’t think it’s Deron’s last good shot at a title.

YGB (Obama 08) says:
@AB Thanks dude. But Boozer’s going to end up in Miami right? He has a house down their if im correct. That would bee a sick team. But where would they put him? He’s a natural 4.
October 6th, 2008 at 12:44 am
Austin Burton says:
Assuming Marion isn’t there, you can put Boozer at the 4 and Beasley at the three. If you get a shot-blocking center in there (and they really think Joel Anthony can be that guy), that can make up for some of Beasley’s mistakes on defense.
