Yeah but it's tough. In the suburban areas. They have leagues with Team A and Team B which describe their playing abilities. For the right money you can get your kids a tryout for the elite or traveling leagues. You will spend hundreds of dollars for your kids to get coached by the best. I know 12 year olds with personal trainers. My boss at work has a former NHL player doing one on one coaching with his 9 year old son. There are HS level coaches who basically start developing players at the little league level so he already knows who he's going to have on future teams. The competition is fierce!

@Lady Luck -- I agree, highlight clips for YouTube are just a new form of marketing, and we all know sports is a business, even down to the youth level. But damn, I wish I and some of the kids I played with had grown up in this era.

You guy should read "We Own This Game," a very good book that delves into the world of Little League football, highlighting the good and bad parts.

^^^^^ I wasn't done with my thought....

Anyway, I plan to get him a youtube channel and put his highlights on there in hopes that maybe he can get some early looks. I stress to all of them that must be a model student first. But if they have the talent + education + support, I think they can be successful. Making these videos is merely a marketing tool in this very competitive arena. I'm hoping that he can continue to grow and excel as both a student and a player and that he will fulfill his dream of getting a football scholarship to play for the Buckeyes. I don't think it's a bad thing as long as you make sure that they don't get too far ahead of themselves and to keep their egos in check. By the time he is college bound I will be ready to be his agent/manager to make sure that things go correctly and no one takes advantage of him. The competitiveness on the little league level is amazing. We have to watch who talks to him because coaches come from all over the city trying to recruit him to their teams. Guys sit on the sidelines and bet on games. Photographers show up to games taking photos of people's children and sell them online. It's crazy.

Oh, and our team will put the kids name on their jersey for $25.00

Hype doesn't mean a thing. Think Schea Cotton or Demetrius Walker. Once the rest of their age group catches up to them in size, speed and strength it becoems a different game.

If you think this kid's dad is going to keep him grounded...

Also, kids who were stomping me in 7th and 8th grade were on the bench or drinking in the stands when I was holding it down under the lights, and I know a lot of yall had the same experience.
