“I’d be the first one to go.”Oftentimes when you read interviews with NBA players from the mainstream media, they talk about positional battles, coaching changes and title aspirations. While Delonte West’s interview on Cavs.com started off in typical fashion, it quickly took a turn into left field.
When asked if there was anything to the rumor that he was considering playing in Russia, he said:
Well I read that on the Internet just like you did. The Internet’s real interesting. I call the Internet “The Devil.” The Internet and cable television are the Devil. They’re just a way to influence others with color schemes and all kinds of stuff.
Although he said he meant it “jokingly,” the hits didn’t stop there. After talking about staying in his mom’s basement this summer watching “Sponge Bob” tapes over and over again on his 19” TV, he mentioned a couple reasons why he couldn’t see himself playing in Russia:
Not with all these tattoos I got. I’d be the first one to go. I know some Russians be shooting at me. I got a Chinese symbol over here, I got a Muslim symbol right here. So I’d look like a terrorist over there.
Wow.

Maybe if he watched tv, he’d find an info-mercial to get that sore off of his mouth.

You know, he probably does sound crazy, but for a guy whom I had little to no respect for before, I have a whole lot more for him now. Not only did he touch upon the strange inertia the media seems to create around stories with little to no basis in reality (which I completely agree with), but apparently he lived with his ma and watched a crappy tee vee; talk about keeping it real! What a funny guy! Too bad the Cavs are going to need a lot more than his Sponge-Bob watching ass to make it to the Finals.

He would actually fit in more than he thinks with some cultures in Russia. They have many athlete’s who rock Tats and all types of styles. Russia has sex-clubs and all types of counter-culture elements, but you can’t get on a soap-box preaching about the fallacies of the system, then he would have to go…

This is a perfect example of a double standard. If Steph would’ve said someting like this, people would’ve been riduling him and calling him crazy and what not. However Delonte says this crazy ish and it’s funny. I just don’t get it.

Bill Hicks is the fucking man, and I feel Delonte. All things are the Devil–whatever distracts you from finishing what you started. The Devil is in the distraction. For real, video games, marijuana, and DimeMag are the Devil to me. I just can’t quit em, nor would I want to. Gotta love the Devil.
