Derrick Rose Is the Most Impressive Bull In Camp

Derrick RoseRose

According to the Chicago Tribune, two separate sources insist that Derrick Rose is having the most impressive training camp of anyone in Chicago.

“He has been very good, really, really impressive,” said Thabo Sefolosha. “He’s quick. He makes good decisions on the court. I’m impressed with the way he prepares himself and how he knows when to pass, when to attack. He’s already playing at a very high level.”

A big reason for Rose’s comfortableness in Chicago’s system is Vinny Del Negro’s insistence on playing pick-and-roll basketball. Though Rose says that they only ran that play at Memphis to set up an alley-oop, it’s easy to see him being a nightmare to guard coming off of a screen. At times last year in the NCAA Tournament, it didn’t necessarily make sense for John Calipari to bring an extra defender towards Rose by calling a pick-and-roll because he was too quick for anyone to guard one-on-one.

But with defenders more apt at handling his speed in the League, Rose is learning the in’s and out’s of this bread-and-butter staple of the League by watching hours of footage of Steve Nash, Chris Paul, and Jason Kidd run it.

And at 8:30 PM on Thursday, Rose will get a chance to go against Kidd when the Bulls face off against the Mavs.

I honestly think this kid is gonna be huge. Don’t know if it will be right from the start, mas I give him 3 years max to become a bona fide all-star. Would prefer it if he was in my team, though… (which is Orlando - God… just imagine a Rose/Dwight combo with the wingers raining threes… *drools*)

  2. ObservantOne says:

Didn’t YoungFed already report on Rose in Today’s Smack. Damn yall do be stealing from him DIME. Atleast give the boy some credit. Although I probably shouldn’t even be saying this cause you know how his Ego is.

  3. Kobeef says:

I read the story on RealGM before Younfed said anything so don’t give him too much credit. Rose needs to start in this lineup

    PG - Rose/Hinrich
    SG - Hughes/Gordon/Selfolsha
    SF - Deng/Nocioni
    PF - Tyrus/Gooden
    C - Jokaim/Gray

  4. Kudabeen says:

    Not to be a D!@*, but…

    comfortableness?

  5. Tyrone says:

Ain’t not doubt that Derrick Rose will be a true stud y’all. Cat’s got mad wicked game. Cat can finish in a crowd and dish some real dope ‘n nasty dimes.

    True thugz never lie.
    Tyrone

  6. shake&bake says:

That is good news to hear as a Bulls fan. Nobody’s even mentioning his defensive abilities. He is a lockdown defender and shut down some of the best guards in the nation during the tourney.

  7. YOUNGFED says:

Thank you somebody finally notice how DIME’s been robbing me. It’s all good though.

    @Kudabeen
I commend you for going at DIME for making up words but that was a lil D*@k’ish.

  8. Kudabeen says:

Fed yeah it was, but in such a small story it was way too easy to…

  9. Sam I Am says:

    comfortableness

a feeling of being at ease in a relationship

    GOO DIME

  10. Kudabeen says:

    KWAME BROWN Alert:

I know the haters don’t care and rightfully so, but Kwame seems to be getting that confidence back that Jordan snatched away from him as a rookie:

    http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081008/SPORTS0102/810080377/1127

Sheed, Antonio and crew should be the best Big man experience Kwame has had to date. Kwame’s not going to become Jermaine Oneal at this point, but I think he will be a more consistent contributor moving forward. Gotta love him going at Sheed and Sheed going right back at him. Love, wish I could witness.

  11. YOUNGFED says:

    @Sam I Am…..a D*@k Rider

Beautifullest - a feeling of being beautiful. Keith Murray. LMAO

    GTFOH

  12. Kudabeen says:

    Sam:

Yes it is in the dictionary, but its usage is to be more so in a conceptual form. Describing/Illustrating an experience.

Comfort would have been just fine…

But Dickedness is done…I will let go…

  13. Kudabeen says:

    A FunkLord reference…Nice.

    Def Squad was tight…

  14. Sweet English says:

YOUNGFED don’t whine about Dime jackin you when you clearly copy and pasted that from another article. I know you did ‘cos there is no spelling mistakes and the grammar is correct.

    HA sorry i couldn’t resist.

    But seriously Dime you should change your tag line to;

DIME. The Game. The Player. The Life. The Grammar.

STOP picking up on grammar and spelling issues etc etc etc its GETTING BORING. NO ONE cares. If someones post or Dimes article is confusing or difficult to understand then fair enough but you know exactly what YOUNGFED and Dime mean most of the time so why waste your time writing about it?

If you are all so inteligent, I’m sure that an accidental missing letter from a word is not going to strain your grey matter too much is it?

    Except Tyrone. Keep slamming Tyrone.

  15. Sweet English says:

    Oh and @ Kudabeen

If were gonna talk about jackin peoples stories, the one and only Gilbert Arenas (aka Agent Zero aka Hibachi aka The Black President aka who?) broke down Kwame’s potential this year in his blog about a month ago.

sorry to be d*@!kish but you were lessening my comfortbaleness LOLZ.

  16. RENO says:

    “Except Tyrone. Keep slamming Tyrone.”

    LMFAO!!!

  17. YOUNGFED says:

    @Sweet E
I’m not complaining about the fact that we both reported it. But once too many times have I brought something out in my BREAKING NEWS segment to fine that 1/2 an hour later Dime putting together an article on it. Now I AIN’T SAYING..,BUT I’M JUST SAYING. What a Co-Winky-Dink. lol

Hell Even in the gossip blogs they give credit to who brought it to them 1st.

Oh and @Kudabeen what u know about DefSquad. RedMan and Murray would be proud of all the WordMakeUpery going on in here. lol

  18. RealTalk says:

Ya FED I’ve been kinda noticing that too. maybe it’s coincencidentalness. lmao.

  19. Kudabeen says:

    Sweet E:

    What?

I don’t even know what you are talking about with biting a story. I posted the story. Also Before Gilbert’s Posting (check Smack Archives, which you can do for me, because my name has been the same for years) I was the lone voice saying that Kwame is not as bad as made out to be and Also predicted the day of the trade that this kind of interchange would happen and that Kwame has NEVER played with great Bigs and now will be better for it.

    Not me…

Also Sweet E…you spelled comfortableness wrong…

    Again not Me…

  20. Sweet English says:

Yo Kudabeen chill man i was only making a point, the point being that if you dont look at all reference points, you can sometimes post what you think is breaking news, without knowing that it broke weeks ago, just somewhere you didn’t look.

And I know id misspelled it, i realised as soon as i had posted, but GOD DAMN it you can’t take it back!!!….

I’m looking forward to watching Kwame play this season too. The only reason people trashed him is cos he was a No.1 pick and he didn’t really perform to No.1 pick levels, especially after such succesful Drafts in the years beforehand. But also, if he doesnt pick up his sh*t this year, i reckon that’s it, last chance saloon.

  21. Kudabeen says:

    FED:

At one point in my life Redman and Meth was the most entertaining MCs, maybe still are… Def Squad’s El Niño was a classic album. One of the few albums you say is “Fun” to listen to…

  22. dagwaller says:

Probably takes Dime a little longer to report things because, you know…they have to write about it instead of cut and pasting it from the source. Write an article in a unique way and post it here before Dime does, THEN I’ll be impressed.

…although that comfortableness thing was painful…

  23. ObservantOne says:

    @dagwaller
Or Maybe just maybe, DIME see’s what others are saying research it and then follow up. But I feel what FED is saying you should atleast give the guy a lil credit. Feel me. Shoot even Austin does it sometimes, ain’t nothing wrong with getting info from another source just give props where there do.

  24. Kudabeen says:

    Sweet E

I hear you, but how did the story break weeks ago when the article came out today and the practice that Kwame and Sheed were going back and forth happened yesterday…?

I’m always chill, but when called out I have to set things straight or admit my oversight. Just my nature…

  25. Kudabeen says:

    Right ObservantOne:

    Like the Gil Jeopardy thing…

I know how it works so I don’t sweat it…What I do sweat is that I hit up Dime in 2003/2004 asking if they had internship opportunities, because all I did was play, study, and think Bball. I am a published poet and have written aritcles (Iverson and the Olympics the most seen, which was Brodied by my Man Cedric Muhammad with love though…)

I love that Dime does what they do, so I support regardless.

  26. Tyrone says:

All them haters goto rest y’all - TYRONE will reign supreme.

    True thugs never lie.
    Tyrone

  27. Young Lebron 23 says:

A lot of people has been saying he is a bust because he plays way out of control. If he can learn to harness his athletic ability he will be the best PG in the league for 10-12 years. That is until I make it.
