Gerald Wallace Trade Rumors

Gerald WallaceMJ is shopping GW

Though Larry Brown successfully convinced Michael Jordan to hold onto Gerald Wallace this offseason, MJ hasn’t been able to resist shopping Crash around the League this preseason.

In some ways that makes sense. Wallace is the type of guy that absolutely every team in the NBA could use. Seriously, name one team that wouldn’t want him. You could stick him on a squad that is loaded up with two’s, three’s, and four’s, and he’d still be a valuable addition. Thus, Jordan could get some value in return – ideally some package of young talent and draft picks.

But without Wallace, what’s the vision for Charlotte’s long-term future? To build around Emeka Okafor and his six-year, $72 million deal? This team already has enough problems, it’s almost frightening to think what they would be like if they didn’t have Wallace.

Here are some possible destinations that might make sense for the Bobcats and another team:

* Detroit. Joe Dumars was explicitly clear about his intentions to make a move this offseason. But he wasn’t willing to pull the trigger on getting Tracy McGrady, probably because of the age/durability questions. Would he be willing to part with some combination of Rodney Stuckey, Kwame Brown’s expiring contract, and a 1st round pick to get Wallace? That could slide Tayshaun Prince into Michael Curry’s “sixth starter” role, too.

* Portland. The Blazers have gone back and forth like thirty times recently trying to figure out exactly who is starting at small forward for them. They’ve thrown Nicolas Batum’s name out there given Martell Webster’s foot injury, but would undoubtedly prefer to be a bit stronger at the three. Is Wallace worth sending Webster, Channing Frye and a 2nd round pick? It wouldn’t really affect Portland’s depth, as they still have Travis Outlaw coming off the bench.

* Phoenix. With Steve Kerr and Terry Porter drunk off of defense in Phoenix, the idea of adding Gerald Wallace would make their heads spin. Though they added Matt Barnes this offseason, he hasn’t convinced anyone that he’s a better option than a 48-year old Grant Hill. What about sending Leandro Barbosa, Alando Tucker and a pick to Charlotte for Wallace? The Suns’ would be a defensive nightmare with Shaq, Amare, Wallace, and Raja Bell.

* Miami. There is no quicker way to stop Shawn Marion from clamoring about a trade than threatening to send him to Charlotte.

What’s a good swap for Gerald Wallace?

Yo call me crazy but I would give up Shawn Marion for Wallace

  2. nerditry says:

@Dee : Yes, you are crazy. Marion would necessitate getting Wallace and at least two players.

I think he’d be nice beside LeBron with them both playing the 2/3.

  3. SayItAintSo says:

That would be amazing if the Blazer’s could drop Web, Bucky Beaver and a D-pick for Crash.

    Bayless (Rodriguez)
    Roy (Fernandez)
    Crash (Outlaw)
    Aldrge (Diogu
    Oden (Przybilla)

Maybe not this year or the next but if you keep that group together for three years, I think you’re inevitably going to get a championship.

  4. SayItAintSo says:

Plus, Crash would be PERFECT for Nate’s system. This is making me hard just thinking about it…

  5. s.bucketz says:

^^^^gross…ya boy likes basketball a lil too much

  6. Michorizo says:

How about Wallace for Marbury …

  7. SayItAintSo says:

I’m sorry Bucketz…I just can’t wait another 5 days and 11 hours. Hell yes I’m excited and love it a little too much.

  8. jayslay says:

trade him to L.A. for odom

  9. Kudabeen says:

Bobcats need a leader on the floor that can pull the team together and stop the bleeding…I don’t know who they can get…Wallace is not going to get them that Superstar that could come in and make them a playoff lock. Their guys just have to play better together. Felton is a good solid PG. Jason Richardson has been giving his matchups the business for years. Wallace, when healthy, has done the same. Emeka will never live up to the Dwight comparisons, but if he gives you 15,12,and 2.5 blocks on a team with plenty slasher, shooters, and perimeter defenders…who cares about those comparisons.

They need health, conditioning, and chemistry…Coach Brown will do the things that will enable them to not hand games away like the much publicized Boston game last year…

That trade with Detroit would be worthwhile if Bobcats keep Felton, sent DJ Augustin/Wallace for Kwame/Stuckey. Would Jordan take another shot on Kwame?

I like the Bobcats team. They need to learn to play “the right way…

Crazy thought I had when Larry Brown signed…Iverson is in his last year. Denver is going nowhere…Bobcats lack closing guard, that puts pressure on opposing teams…They have defenders, shooters, dirty work guys…Bobcats seem like a younger, better version of the 2001 sixers squad in many respects…They have way more talent, but that talent has underachieved…I see Iverson, if he is about the same level as he was last year making that team Top 5, yes 5 This year in the East…

@ AK The Suns’ would be a defensive nightmare with Shaq, Amare, Wallace, and Raja Bell.

Amare has never played D, and Shaq has lost like 3 steps.

I say trade LO and and a 1st for Crash…

    Lakers
    Fisher
    KB
    Crash
    Gasol
    AB

  11. Zach says:

no way Dumars gives up Stuckey or a 1st round to bring in Wallace. Start the hatin now, but I will take Tayshaun over Wallace. Maybe ship Sheed’s expiring for Wallace and a protected pick.

  12. YOUNGFED says:

Why do they call him Crash is it because he looks like Crash Bandigoat (lol). No but seriously Zach he’s better than Tayshaun. However you are right about Stuckey he is the future.

  13. Scott says:

Wallace would be ideal for the Lakers. He gets his points without plays, he’s got the D. Crash at the 3, Kobe at the 2 and thats a sick matchup problem they have on both ends. Not that its gonna happen. But ya.

  14. loganlight says:

    Send him to Miami!! Please!!!

  15. weezy f says:

wow that sayitaintso is super homo

  16. Drink the Haterade (KB24 Chip 09) says:

Does anyone know where they have good games in the Huntsville AL area? I am moving from Vegas and need some help with this.

  17. Spliff 2 My Lou says:

Vegas to Huntsville? You must be in the witness protection program.

  18. Big Shot BOB says:

Are you serious AK none of these trades gives Charlotte equal return. Wallace is a stat monster. The only one that made sense was The Matrix but they are basically the same player with the slight edge going to Marion. On any other squad Crash would be in the allstar game.

But I do like that L.O. trade though.

  19. YOUNGFED says:

lmao @Spliff and Weezy f. That ish was Hillllaaaarious!!!

  20. QQ says:

    Trade him to Orlando please!

  21. iL Mago says:

Toronto desperately needs a player like Wallace, Moon-Kapono-Parker-Graham are good but not championship material.

  22. Drink the Haterade (KB24 Chip 09) says:

    @ Spliff–
It’s a long story, but that’s where I’m headed. So anyone know where to hoop there?

  23. SayItAintSo says:

Damn straight Weezy…how long you and I been together now? 13 some odd years?

Keep your fifth-grade insults near the monkey-bars, playa.

  24. doc says:

He should go to the Sixers for Royal Ivey and Willie Green.

  25. K Dizzle says:

Damn near shocked that there wasn’t the usual Lamar Odom and a pick for (fill in the blank with the player being shopped) Fortunately, Lakers don’t need dude cuz Ariza got those minutes locked up.

  26. GEE...Built yourself a little fort? F$#@ yo fort!! says:

Dude “might” go to the D, other than that, I don’t see him going anywhere fa real.

  27. MJAX says:

Bring him here to Pee Ohh!!!! Webster is not getting it done, and Channing is never really going to play!!!
If the Bobcats were blind enough to trade with the Knicks, MJ would kill marbury in a dark corridor late one night after practice, just because!!!!

  28. weezy f says:

my dude your comeback was weak im koo off the homo shit thank you

  29. bill says:

suns would be a defensive nightmare with blah blah blah Amare.. wtf?

  30. sadha says:
