Josh Howard Punks Yao Ming
In case you missed it last night, Josh Howard gave a hard foul to Yao Ming. Rushing to his defense, Ron Artest decided to come to into the mix and was slapped with a technical foul – although he did nothing but check in with his teammate.
After the play, Reggie Miller called the play “guilt by reputation.”
After years of being a model NBA citizen, what does Artest have to do to change his reputation?

if you watched earlier as they were both going down court to the mavs basket yao actually elbowed howard right in the face…dont think he did that intentionally but he did.
after they both got back down to the mavs basket, i think near the free throw line howard actually trips or pushes yao to the floor.

Am I blind? It looks like the first thing he did was push on Josh Howard. Artest didn’t go straight to Yao. He went through Howard to get to Yao. Had he grabbed Yao instead of pushing Howard into Kidd, there wouldn’t have been an issue.

i’m kinda w/ joe on this one. he’s been doin stuff like this more and more lately. last year, he hit brad miller with that hard foul and they almost got into it. he’s been trippin lately. when he first came in, he was real chill…played the game aggresively, but still showed the basic respect for the players. now its like, if youre a big man and josh isn’t on your team, you better watch out lol

The call was a good one, fellas. First of all, Artest did MORE than just check his teammate…he FIRST went into the white jerseys and gave a couple cats a “bump”, which should have been and was interpreted as a kind of “heat check” to see if anyone would mess with him. THEN he tried to cover it up by rushing to his teammate and pull his arm. Watch it again. They gave him a tech cause the ref saw what Artest was most likely going to do and they prevented it the best way they could, with the whistle.

Thats bullshit. There was zero agression, and all Ron did was run up to break things up. If Ron gets a tech, then Howard should be getting a flagrant for not making an initial play on the ball when he fouled Yao. Jason kidd should be getting a tech for getting more involved than what Ron was.
Its a blatant double standard on a dude that’s got a reputation. Then you wonder why he’s considered crazy…cause fuckin refs treat him like he is.
