Kentucky Wildcats Unveil New Uniforms
Wildcats’ new steezWhen Coach Billy Gillispie chose to take the job at the University of Kentucky, he was clearly not unaware of the tradition that he was stepping into. Tonight, representatives from Nike and UK will formally unveil the Wildcats’ new uniforms for the 2008-09 season.
Celebrating the Bluegrass state’s great history and hoop tradition, the new jerseys will pay homage to Kentucky’s other prestigious pastime – horse racing.
Coming off an 18-13 season, Patrick Patterson and crew will get to sport new steez this season that incorporates innovations first introduced for the USA Basketball team in Beijing this summer. Kentucky will be the first college squad to rock the new unis – debuting them at Midnight Madness.

The innovation is in the Dri-FIT technology and the fact that they are 18% lighter, not in the checkerboard effect (which, by the way, is a replica of the pattern worn by former Kentucky bread triple crown winner Secretariat).
Kentucky is always on the cusp of innovation when it comes to basketball, let’s face it.
