Ron Artest Loves Getting Booed
When the Rockets play the Kings in a preseason game tonight, the spotlight will be on Ron Artest. Traded in the off-season to Houston for the potential of first-round pick Donte Greene, next year’s Rockets first-round pick and Sacramento fan favorite Bobby Jackson, the Rockets knew exactly what they were getting: an All-Star.
But oftentimes when you’re an outspoken All-Star like Ron-Ron, the haters come out. After being booed in his first preseason road game in Boston last week, Artest is unconcerned with how he will be greeted in Sacramento. Because you know what, “Fans don’t boo nobodies.”
Agreeing with Reggie Jackson’s infamous proclamation, the Tru Warier is not only used to it, but wouldn’t have it any other way.
“It’s like that everywhere I go,” Artest said. “Everywhere I go, I get booed. It’s cool. I love it. I always loved it. I want to be booed or cheered, one or the other. I don’t want to have my name announced and have nobody say anything. To have my name announced and everybody boo, that’s great. That means they know me.”
It’s true. Staying relevant in a League populated by stars is an important marketing tool. And there’s no one more relevant than Artest and the new Big Three in Houston right now.
Are there any players that come to play your squad that you always boo?

Dukesman2000,
NY already has it’s quota for crazies filled.
The one person who always gets booed in the games I watch is Vince Carter. He’s probably the only guy it truly affects though.
