Rudy Fernandez Will Be Your New Favorite Player
Rudy after being MVP of the FIBA cup“Basketball is basketball, Europe or in USA.”
Oftentimes we make too much of a fuss over the difference between ball in the United States and Europe. We wonder how guys like Rudy Fernandez and Marc Gasol will adjust to the States, and how guys like Brandon Jennings and Josh Childress will amend to the international game.
But at the end of the day, as Fernandez states, “Basketball is basketball.”
A star for seven years in the Spanish ACB League, it looks like Fernandez learned a thing or two that he’ll be able to implement this season. In the preseason, he averaged 12.0 points, 4.0 assists and a Blazer high 2.6 steals per game, as Portland continued to prove why they’re a team not to be overlooked this season.
“Rudy, you could put him in any situation,” Brandon Roy said. “You could put him in with the Spurs and he would fit in. … He just plays basketball. He doesn’t think the game. He’s reacting the game.”
As the Fantasy Doctor exclaimed the other day, even off the bench, Fernandez should play 30 minutes a night and give you real stats day in and day out. While those stats will surely help your fantasy team, they’ll also be mainstays on SportsCenter.
If not Rudy, who is your new favorite player coming into the season?

I want to see what Rose is going to do. For some reason I have the feeling in a couple of years he’s going t obe in that top point guard / fastest guy in the league conversation.
