Shaun Livingston Is Back

Shaun LivingstonHe’s back!

Although the Heat lost to the Hornets last night, Shaun Livingston was a winner. After blowing out his knee in February 2007, Livingston made his return to the court last night after twenty months on the comeback trail.

The numbers weren’t impressive – five points on 2-of-6 shooting, three assists, four fouls and one turnover in 18 minutes – but the fact that Livingston made it back on the court after THIS is amazing.

This summer we dubbed the 22-year-old, former Top-5 pick a Player To Watch, and many teams took notice. Before he landed in Miami, a couple other teams scoffed at the chance to pickup the PG who just a few seasons ago was the heir apparent in Los Angeles.

“He looked good,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. “He’s very creative, really has an ability to get into the paint and find people.

“Now he has to catch up with everybody else. He needs more reps.”

With Mario Chalmers starting last night and Marcus Banks logging 21 minutes, if Livingston is able to play well, Chris Quinn may be the odd man out.

I’ll believe it when I see him play more than half a season. He’s had some horrible luck for being as good as he is.

  2. GEE...I got a bounty on George Karl. says:

I want the kid to do well. Hope he comes back even better.

I’ve been a Livingston fan since he came into the league. I hope he does well, injuries like that are terrible.

I REALLY hope that this kid will be able to play. I read so much about him when he was killing in HS. I see him as my prototypical player (point guard with a height advantage, as I’m a point), so I really wish him well.

  11. Scott says:

Good to see him doing well, you can tell he’s a good guy in general, and his ability to create can be amazing at times. Him running full strength with Wade, Beasley and Marion would be to quote Chuck Sworsky “Sick, Wicked, and Nasty!”

  12. IGP says:

if he ends up being as good as he can, the Heat will be a really good team.

  13. jace says:

good. get chris quinn outta there. shouldve never re-signed him.

Livingston has potential to be like Penny Hardaway in more ways than one. Its good to see dude back but I hope he’s penny Circa 1994 (Balling out of control chosen as Air aparerent.)not Penny Circa 2007. (Signed by miami played to slow cut mid season.)
