The Best Pickup Game in the World
You might remember from Dime #42 when we put together a story on the continuous run that happens at UCLA’s Student Activities Center every summer. Since the ’70’s, NBA stars have flocked to L.A. to get their offseason work in on the court against their NBA peers. From Bill Walton and Magic to Michael, Kobe and KG – everyone who is anyone has spent their summer playing ball at the Center.
Our friends at adidas hit us with this video called “The Run,” filmed at that very same court. It pits all of adidas’ biggest names locked in a serious pickup run – KG, T-Mac, Dwight, Chauncey, Tim Duncan and Josh Smith, among others, all getting in work. Great commercial. KG looked like he struggled to not curse when he was “on the phone” with Chauncey. He may be a method actor…
On Farmar, I think he would be a great pickup player. He is crazy athletic and you don’t expect it at all…

2. I agree, Farmar got maaaadddd love on here. But I guess its an ode to him being a UCLA guy. Its like his home gym i guess.

Trust me Farmer is not a NBA superstar, but on any given day he would give everybody the business on this site. Besides all that, you just got to love basketball. Great video/commercial. Addidas gets the sport. Nike gets the spetacle.
