Baron could be in the Bay right nowOne thing is now for sure: in any sort of meet-and-greet between Warriors’ season ticket holders and their front office brass, don’t expect to see any of the big wigs wearing name tags. It turns out that both sides - Chris Mullin and Baron Davis - tentatively agreed that Boom would opt-in at $17.8 million for next season and receive a three-year $39 million deal thereafter. However, Warriors’ president Robert Rowell - who speaks on behalf of the owner Chris Cohan - vetoed the deal.
All money included, that would’ve given Baron $56.8M over four seasons, through the 2011-12 season. That was the deal. Both sides signed off, tenatively.
And Rowell nixed it. Bye-bye Baron.
If you crunch all of the numbers, Baron actually would have been paid more over the next four years if Rowell didn’t block that deal. Now, unless Marcus Williams gets a red-hot start right out of the gate, Rowell might as well go into hiding.

Baron Davis is a nasty baller y’all. He got mad ability and is one talented cat. He got ability to get mad buckets and dish dope dimes.

Davis is not worth gambling on. Warriors aren’t making waves with or without him. Good decision imo

Great decision to let him go…If he stays productive over the next two seasons with no injuries, he will be in the frontrunning for top player in the league. Baron Davis is gifted, but his body hasn’t been able to hold up over the years.

Tough call… but I see the silver lining. Letting Baron go freed money for Monta’s new scooter.

First the Raiders, now this!!!!! The Warriors will become the Grizzlies, Timberwolves, Bux and/or Nets, maybe even the Knicks!! “Scooter” Ellis, Maggette and “Blood” Jax, don’t strike real fear in a whole lot of teams. These guys are four man strong at best including Al Harrington, and then that is all!!!!

@ Tyronne True.
@ Coop Also true
While Barron is as ill on the court as anyone right now dude has a long history of being injury prone. If Dizzle misses 10 games this year the Warriors will look a little better.

I’ve said this before, but with Baron, they were an 8th seed at-best. They caught the Mavs off-guard and upset them a couple years ago, but the chances of that happening again were slim to none.
I liked that it opened up money to start a real rebuilding phase, but not for Corey Maggette, who only brings more of what the roster is full off - guys who like to score, but don’t really play defense, if any.
With Monta out for a few months, this team will be hard-pressed to stay out of the league basement. The only good thing about this is the Warriors should get a high draft pick (again), so long as they don’t botch the draft, which, as we know, is a very likely possibility.
