There Is a Bounty On Greg Oden’s Head
Ricky is paying $500 to dunk on G.O.News that Kevin Martin won a $1,000 bet with Mikki Moore for being the first to dunk on Greg Oden must have spread like wildfire through the League. Before last night’s game with the Blazers, the Clippers’ locker room was buzzing as Ricky Davis issued a $500 bounty to Eric Gordon, DeAndre Jordan, and Al Thornton if one of them could crown G.O.
Though DeAndre Jordan tried to up the pricetag from five bills to five K, to which Ricky told him “Get off the bus, rook,” nobody was able to get up and over Oden for a dunk.
“I’m good,” said Ricky Buckets after the game. “Nobody got it. I should have bet it the other way around. If he dunked on somebody else, I would have won.”
Is this conversation going to happen in every NBA locker room before they play the Blazers? Dunking on Greg Oden could be an entirely new business venture for the guys out in Vegas. Set the odds right now of all 400-plus guys who start out the season on an NBA roster. Even though LeBron faces Oden only twice this season, I’d put the line at 5-to-1. At the very bottom of that list, below Earl Boykins (even if he’s starting the season in the Euroleague), I think it’s safe to give Spencer Hawes 350-to-1 odds.
How would you set the odds throughout the League?

Well, Ricky was just giving it away, so $500 was pretty generous. Mikki was betting Martin, so he had the potential to win the $1000 for himself.

There are guts in challenging a shot. Look how sissy Ashton Korver looked when he moved out of the way.
The NBA organization is just hilarious. The fine and punish players with a dress code or flopping rules and they do nothing about internal betting. We know they exist, but they shouldn’t make them public.
Its like Freaky Davis forcing a shot at his own rim to get the double double.

@S.Buckets, Mikki signed a pretty big deal ($30M over 5 years I think) w/ Sacto a few years ago. He came outta the D-League to the Nets a few years ago (one of a hundred average to awful guys JKidd got paid,) but is actually making more than Buckets this year I think…

andrew bynum will get him in the very first game, and i think kobe will also attempt to dunk on G.O. (assuming kobe’s knee will hold up). i can definitely see lebron, wade, amare, dwight and even shaq dunking on oden, if only to welcome him into the league.
and josh smith will pull off a double whammy by not only dunking on oden, but by blocking his shot, too. come to think of it, dwight and bynum could do that as well.

greg oden is going to wipe his ass with bynum regularly once they both return to full health and settle in for a long career rivalry.
bynum just doesn’t have oden’s intensity and athleticism.
