Which City Needs an NBA Championship the Most?
How badly does Big D want a chip?Right now, Philadelphia is drunk with joy. The blue collar city that brought you freedom is currently in the middle of a championship parade 28 years in the making. Though an Eagles chip could legitimately cause the city to crumble to the ground, this is pretty much as raucous as it gets.
The last three major sports championships have sent shockwaves through their respective cities (Philadelphia, Boston, and New York), which satisfied each city’s crazy hunger for success. Now that the Celtics rabid fan base got theirs, what city is most desperately in need of an NBA Championship?
* San Francisco – At the Warriors home opener, TNT’s cameras caught like five different fans who had dyed their hair and shaved something like “GSW,” a basketball, or “Warriors” in their head. Not only do those haircuts make the Heat’s team mohawks look normal, but they also show just how crazy this fan base is.
* Toronto – Canada counts.
* New York – It doesn’t matter if the Giants win every year for the next 20 years, the faithful at MSG wouldn’t be content until the Knicks take one home.
* Dallas – They made it close enough to taste it in ‘05-06, and then were embarrassed by the Warriors in ‘07-08. Add in that they’ve never won one and Mark Cuban would sell his soul for a title, and the Mavs are as desperate as any team in the League.

CLeveland–44 years without a title. 3 sport town, diehard, drive through sleet FANS…had our football team taken, nobody can really beat us on bad luck. All we got are the Buckeyes, and they got beat in 3 out of the last 4 NCAA championship games….give it up for true hardknock fanhood, and stop bitchin about the Knicks, when the Yabnkees and Giants have recent hardware.

“Canada counts”? WTF does that mean? Where’s the effort? Let’s try again, shall we?
Toronto – In a city where hockey comes first, second and third, the story of when the Maple Leafs last won the Stanley Cup is sounding more and more like the fairy tale you tell your grandkids. The Blue Jays have lost all the lustre from their last World Championship and they’re still waiting for Ralph Wilson to die so the city can get a real football team. The addition of Jermaine O’Neal was a move made to win now and the Raptors fans are ready to support a championship run, or at least a sprint past the first round of the playoffs.

New Orleans..hands down!! What city has been through more ish in a ten year span? They almost loss the Saints not once but twice(to Mississippi and then to San Antonio) Then the Saints actually look like they are on their way then the season starts!(you know the rest) The Hornets come to town with minimal fanfare but then by winning they give the city something to believe in and rally around.(post Katrina)If the Hornets were able to claim a NBA Championship it would do wonders for the city and people that live their!
Plus the city has NEVER won a professional sports championship..ever! nuff said..

I think Cleveland “deserves” one. Especially since their guy is about to bolt for the Nets. Not to mention that their D-Bag is the ultimate front-runner (Cowboys & Yankees fan). FU Lebron.

P.S. The Storm do not count as a professional sports team, thereby negating their accomplishments in the past decade.

seriously, I think Utah needs it so the fans of the jazz can stop spazzing out about every slight (real or imagined) and grow up. (and this is coming from a jazz fan, who, btw, doesn’t live in utah, has never been there, and isn’t mormon) unlike the charlotte hornets franchise that moved to New orleans, the jazz have an actual history of winning games in the playoffs and going to the finals and stuff. they deserve it more than new orleans . . . if we’re going to award trophies to places that have problems where’s Darfur’s ring? or bangaldesh?
