1-on-1 With Shammond Williams
Having played for Phil Jackson and Dean Smith, Shammond Williams has learned from the best. Currently playing for Pamesa Valencia in the ACB, Shammond is living it up playing ball and living on the beach in Spain.

Shammond is a beast. I remember watching him play at Prep Stars Basketball Camp along with Matt Carroll. They both dominated the competition. I’m sure he’s enjoying Spain just fine.

up until the time comes that basketball talent is universally equal, all US players playing overseas are just garbage players. They wont be seen in the same light as NBA players where “real” players play. I am not bashing overseas play, I am all for it. But you guys know what I mean. Somewhere along the line (maybe soon), the playing field will even out. The defection of a Lebron or Kobe (unlikely) will speed that process up. in aby case, Shammong is just another average player living it up. good for him.

People in US are generaly exremely sceptic about the level of play in Europe’s two top leagues and seem to just have any kind of interest in Spanish ACB and russian Superliga. Hence the lack of knowledge and off course respect for the players who play there both american and local. As much as I like Sham and his game, he didn’t exactly dominate while in Unics (Kazan’), who also had a national team pg Samoilenko and Travis Best of all people playing at his position. most teams in these 2 leagues have 2 or 3 americans playing mostly at the 1, so Sham and many other known names are actualy going up against decent comp and defensive strategies built to stop them week-in and week-out.
Just look what my boy El-Amin’s doing to the league in Ukraine..
