(Almost) Daily Fantasy

Anthony Carter should be picked up.

The waiver wire is hot. With most lineups due tomorrow there is going to be a whole lot of cutting and signing. We’re here to help.

Ramon Sessions – And there he is. Or at least there he was. With Ridnour sitting with a flared up back, Sessions started, played 37 minutes and scored 12 points and had 9 assists. Important note, Skiles preaches defense and the fact that Calderon scored 25 is not a good thing for Sessions. Still this opens the discussion back up for Sessions. Don’t grab him, but keep him on the immediate radar, especially if you need assists.

Anthony Carter - In three games (including last night), Carter is averaging 15 points, 5 dimes, and 5 boards. He’s also shooting 70% from the field, is 3-4 from three, perfect at the line, and turnover numbers are low for a point guard. How can i not recommend him for at least a short term pick up if you need a guard.

Travis Outlaw – The production was okay last night (11 points, 4 boards, and 4 assists) but here are the telling signs about Outlaw – 35, 31, and 37. Those are his minutes in the first three games. Outlaw should be owned in 12 team and above leagues based on the minutes. The production will be there with the minutes.

Peja Stojakovic –
The news is not good for Peja owners. If you needed Peja’s threes it is time to look elsewhere for a little while. Peja’s ankle is supposedly extremely swollen. High ankle sprains don’t heal overnight and even with the best medical treatment, Peja could be out weeks and not games. Posey, Mo Pete, and Rasual Butler are going to take his minutes. As you saw last night Posey (4 threes and 15 points) is the only one who can be counted on for consistency. Mo Pete went from solid game to dud last night and Butler (14 points, including 3 threes), who can really shoot, needs a few more like last night before we recommend him.

Mario Chalmers – 6 points and 8 assists. Again, you could be doing worse. It’s arguable who you’d rather have right now – Beno, Jameer, or Mario. That says something. Still you may want to read the next player update…

Stephon Marbury – He’s in daily updates right now. Most believe the relationship will be done within a week or so. I have to imagine Miami goes after him hard. Chalmers would look much better as a back up and the Heat need one more scorer. If you have the spot, Steph could be a nice filler. It’s yet to be seen what Steph has left in the tank and it’s going to be a little bit until he’s contributing anyway so just make sure you have room on your bench before making the move.

Johan Petro – The inconsistent Petro went for 10 points, 9 boards, and 3 blocks last night. Most importantly he continues to start, which seems to mean that Thunder believe in him. We’re not all the way there yet, but we’re not huge haters either.

Andrea Bargnani – Ugh. Another goose egg. One nice game and two goose eggs. Not good. Within a week, if not sooner, he’s cutable.

Matt Barnes – There his is. I have been preaching Barnes and his 21, points, 3 steals, 5 boards, and 3 dimes finally make me a look a little better. Hopefully you’ve been reading and didn’t cut him.

Jared Dudley – He started at power forward yesterday as Sean May has been kicked to the curb until he gets in shape. Dudley had 6 and 5 in almost 30 minutes. I actually like Dudley and there were times last season where he flirted with value. Here’s the thing – he’s just not a power forward. Still, we’re going to keep an eye on him.

Tyrus Thomas – Thomas is now 2 for 22 in his last two games. WOW. Don’t cut him yet. Really don’t.

Darrell Arthur/Hakim Warrick – Arthur may have been a waste of a waiver pick up, that is unless you are in a roto league and really need boards. Arthur’s minutes disappeared last night (13 minutes), almost all going to Hakim Warrick who had 17 points. Warrick has clear skill, as people who had him for the post Gasol era last season. The problem is that Warrick doesn’t rebound the way a power forward should and the entire Grizzlies front court (with the exception of Marc Gasol) is inconsistent.

Mickael Pietrus – He’s defining fringe right now. He’s not an awful spot starter but he’s dancing back and forth from nice value. Last night he had 20 points on 6-9 shooting.

Rashad McCants – I just think of McCants as streaky and the fact that he’s in Minnesota with about 100 guys who can play his position doesn’t help my feeling that he’s inconsistent. But he had 18 last night and 15 the night before and the minutes look to be consistently in the high 20’s. I’m not a believer yet, but I’m getting closer.
