Bobcats Cut Two, Look In New Direction

Following a 3-7 start, the Charlotte Bobcats have decided to go in a new direction. After cutting Andre Brown and Linton Johnson, two guys who apparently “don’t fit in the team’s plans,” the Bobcats plan to sign former Cleveland Cavaliers center Dwayne Jones today to fill one of their open roster spots.
While the loss of Brown and Johnson is really not significant – neither guy had a guaranteed contract or was active for the Bobcats’ past four games – it does signal a changing of the guard in Charlotte as the team hopes the flip the script.
“We weren’t playing these guys,” Larry Brown said of the forwards waived Wednesday. “Sure, we’re looking to see if there’s anything we can do, but I don’t know that (anything else will happen). I feel bad (about the cuts) because these are good guys, but we moved on.”
While rumors continue to circle Time Warner Cable Arena, with everything from unloading Gerald Wallace to picking up Antonio McDyess, it’s clear the Bobcats are looking to upgrade at multiple positions. Or, perhaps the great Michael Jordan Conspiracy Theory is true.
Who do the Bobcats need to sign or trade for to turn around their season?

Andre Something and Linton Doe are players with tons of upside. Too bad the Cats let them go away.

Brown says:
They’ve made too many mistakes with their roster to recover any time soon. It will take this team at LEAST 5-6 years to climb out of the hole they’re in right now. Their cap situation sucks, and they’ve spent too much money on the wrong players (Okafor & J-Rich). They’ve drafted HORRIBLY, with none of their draft picks panning out (Okafor, Felton, May, Morrison, Dudley). Crash is the only player on that team I’d want on my team. Augustine deserves a chance to show he belongs, but besides those two, I would start by trying to trade everyone else.
