    Nuh…Nuh…Nuh….NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

    *Count of Monte Cristo quote*

    WHY?? In God’s name, WHY?!

  2. YOUNGFED says:

Yall sons of B@#thes just beat me too it how did yall find out before me and i’m in Detroit.

  3. driveatsleep says:

    what?! why!!!

  4. Kermit the Washington says:

There goes my pick for Detroit to come out of the East!

  5. Dime Magazine says:

Kermit – you say they jump the Celts with AI right away?

    - ak

  6. rena the great says:

Oh for the love of God! Are you friggin kidding me? We traded a “was once” for a “never will be”? Crap. Are we becoming a retirement home for “what should have been”‘s? First Kwame, now Iverson…wow.

  7. Kermit the Washington says:

@Dime…nonono, I was saying that my pick WAS Detroit to top the Celts and come out of the East. But now that they did THIS…not so much anymore……*sniff*…

  8. SoulOnIce says:

I don’t know how to feel about this. Iverson’s my favorite player of all-times, and I wanna see him win a ring, but I don’t think this makes them better than Boston. As a matter of fact, I know it doesn’t make them better than Boston.

  9. QQ says:

    IS THIS FREAKING TRUE??!!!!!

  10. Kermit the Washington says:

This also sucks because Iverson isn’t a good point guard. He’s a great PLAYER, don’t get me wrong…but now who runs the point? It’s not gonna be Stuckey, ’cause then you’d be having him start over either Iverson or Rip. GOT DANG IT this ruined my day DAG!

  11. DZ says:

Does anyone think this is a good trade for Detroit? I can’t believe it’s true. It’s not on espn.com yet….

  12. JDig89 says:

A.I. and Rip are gonna be playing less now, their both scorers and this was definitely in part to accomodate stuckey and establish him as the new PG. They may start A.. at the point and Rip at the 2, but gradually as the season progresses Stuckey will be playing the point and getting bigger minutes. But i bet stuckey takes #1 now that Chaunce is gone.

  13. rodnets says:

Its not 1st April. Yeah, maybe Dumars lost his mind…

  14. control says:

Say it ain’t so Joe…say it ain’t so!

  15. J-Dot says:

I like Billups better as a mentor for Stuckey, but an Iverson/Stuckey matchup definitely sounds like a source of massive bucketry. This doesn’t help much on the defensive end, but whatever. The Pistons are watchable again for me!

  16. Sam I Am says:

    HA Detroit Suck City

  17. control says:

The impact AI will have on Detroit will extend beyond the NBA courts. It’s going to be horrible here, running pickup games with lil’ white trash fags wearing Detroit AI jerseys trying to drop all 11 points in 35 shots without passing the ball. If this is true, Joe Dumars has destroyed pickup basketball in the Metro Detroit area.

  18. K Dizzle says:

LOL! All you Piston heads twistin this the wrong way. This a great deal for Denver. Of course Anthony Carter gotta be pissed since he puttin up 15, 5, 5 so far this season. AI’s still the man but this trade makes Denver stronger as a squad

  19. JDig89 says:

    and @Rena…

how you gonna call A.I. a what should have been? Pound for Pound name one guy his size to ever play in the NBA who took the beating he has and lasted this long playing at such a high level? The dude took scrubs like Tyrone Hill, Jumaine Jones, Rodney Buford and Matt Geiger to the NBA Finals, and even won a game against one of the best teams of our Era, the Lakers, @ Staples Center. A.I. is a daddy, he’s not a champion and may never will be, but he leaves it all on the floor and you can’t knock him.

  20. YOUNGFED says:

Do yall really doubt the Great Joe Dumars,….BLASPHEMY! Yall don’t have the right to question the Best GM ever in any Sport other than the Red Wings who win every year (lol). I love this trade I get somebody I love to watch ball, who is now the best point gaurd in the East. Virtually unstoppable. Detroit will win the East and yall better believe Joey D ain’t done yet. Now RunTellDat!!!!

  21. Detroit Dave says:

Im at a lost for Words! On one Hand, I love the trade, but on the other hand confused

  22. dukesman2000 says:

    Oh wow…

  23. justice says:

sounds like there’s another trade coming maybe? Rip is gone

  24. Tbone says:

I think I’m going to cry

  25. control says:

    YOUNGFED

AI isn’t a point guard, and if he were, he wouldn’t be the best in the East. AI is a shooting guard…that is what he does, shoots.

If this trade is true, this doesn’t make Detroit better.

  26. Kermit the Washington says:

    @JDig89…

“A.I. is a daddy, he’s not a champion and may never will be, but he leaves it all on the floor and you can’t knock him.”

what the $%&# is THAT supposed to mean? hahah that has nothing to do with anything…if this is true, then they just traded a Champion point guard for a “Daddy”. Get the $%#* outa here

But yeah, this is dope for Denver. Melo and Billups and Carter and KMart and Nene…nice, I must admit

  27. Rob says:

Wow so many cry babies for bama faced Big Shot

Detroit SUCKS FROEVER !!!! All about the Lakers !

  28. Kermit the Washington says:

Dumars is up to something here…perhaps this isn’t the end of it. Rip, ‘Sheed, Tay are all still on the block…

  29. SayItAintSo says:

I’m not sure if this is good for Detroit but I think Denver just got REAL lucky.

  30. CitizenB says:

Miami: “Hey Detroit, any one else you looking to get rid of?!?”

  31. JDig89 says:

Kermit i agree with you, If you read my post above that I said I didn’t understand why they made this trade because now they have 2 high volume scorers at SG. So i agree Chauncey is the better fit in Detroit. But Rena called him a “Should have been” and put him in the same sentence as Kwame Brown. Iverson is a hell of a player and you gotta give credit where credit is due. But i think you just didn’t understand the point I was trying to convey. Your completely right about Chauncey being the MVP Finals PG. He’s a better team player and worked great with the rest of the core in Motown. But I was just defending Iverson’s ability.

  32. MoxWestCoastRep says:

@Younfed- Drafting Darko over D-wade, Bosh and Melo= Not best GM ever. lol.
@Dime who gets a fantasy boost here? Amir??

  33. Andrew-PL says:

Isnt this a good cap move for detroit? If you combine A.I’s contract and Rasheeds contract thats like 34 million dollars off from the book next year. And they dont need to pay Stuckey since he has 2 more years on his rookie deal so next year they might just grab some good FA and they are will be doing well for themsleves.

  34. YOUNGFED says:

    @Control
Okay lets see getting a better player doesn’t make your team better…..woooooowwww that’s kinda stupid. AI is top 3 if he was a pg or 2 hands down, and don’t give me that Dwade shit (yall done made me curse) dammit. With that being everybody in here crying needs to just chill-out. Dumars has only ever made just 1 count it 1 mistake (Darko Forget that b#tch Millicic)

  35. donvey lindsey says:

smooth back in his home town

  36. Habitual Line-Stepper says:

i don’t get what Detroit is trying to accomplish with this trade. their ain’t enough shots to go around when you add an AI to the mix. Rip and SHeed gonna be real unhappy. I say fist fight by mid-season.

I like AI but this makes no sense, Detroit anyway. Great move for Denver. THey get post help and a REAL pg.

  37. Rob says:

    @ MoxWestCoastRep

    Very true…

    Forgot about the Darko draft…

OMG now they have had 2 of the WORST draft picks ever !

  38. SoulOnIce says:

I wanna see how Detroit will make this work. Folks are right; what do you do with Stuckey now??? He’s the only PG on this team. I have to agree with MoxWestCoastRep with what he said about Dumars not being the best GM ever.

I know one thing: this makes Denver WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better now.

  39. the_don_mega says:

why would the Pistons trade chauncey anyway??? well, if this really is true… lets wait and see how it all goes then…

  40. Rob says:

PLUS…now you got the thuggiest dudes out on the court in Detroit

  41. Don Mega says:

Detroit is gonna fall apart without Chauncey … probably the most important part of the core group of dudes that won the title … Sheed’s gonna be piiisssssed

  42. YOUNGFED says:

    @MoxWest
Dumars also got 1.) A CHAMPIONSHIP 2.)SHEED 3.)RIP 4.) TAY 5.) BILLUPS (and made all 4 beteer than they were except sheed) 6.) Six straight finals appearances 7.) Stuckey 8.) McDyess 9.) Affalo, and last but not least 10) Put whatever yall want here

So if Drafting Darko was the worst he’s done I’m rollin’ wit’em.

  43. dapro says:

Damn I at a loss, AI is my dude but I think this makes Denver better as Chauncey can mesh better with Melo than AI in the D

    We’ll see family

  45. justice says:

Getting a better player doesn’t always make ur team better it’s about team needs especially when the gap is a close as it is with A.I and billups had this been A.I 2000 it would have been different..

  46. Diego says:

Post 1 nailed it simply: WHY?

Detroit will miss both of those guys (and Denver will benefit from both of them–but Karl will somehow manage to screw it up).

  47. Ta!ented says:

damn…i was hopin A.I. would end his career wit Melo…i was diggin that squad too..damn…aw well

  48. A$$Cube says:

    Good deal for both franchises.

Denver gets a hometown hero in Billups, plus their best player from the late 90s in Dice, who’s gonna be a HUGE pickup to conterbalance the loss of Camby, minus the blocks.

Detroit finally got their Superstar AND cap relief. It’s a business and with Rip, Tay and Stuckey all up for contract extension soon, it’s a decent if not strong move financially speaking.

With Dice gone, Dumars just free up some more PT for Amir, Maxiell and Kwame inside. It was needed.

The question is that it seemed Curry wanted to involve Tay in offense more. Now with AI on board, I dont see that happening.

Other question is : how are they gonna work on the defensive end with Stuckey, AI, and Rip ? Who’s gonna check bigger, star caliber 2-guards ?

Another thing to take in consideration is… Things in Detroit were getting boring. Same ol’crew, same ol’issues.

I’m really looking forward the Pistons play on offense, because opposing teams are gonna have a hard time keeping an eye on both AI (with the ball) and Rip (without) at the same time.

Denver’s clearly cleared the way for Melo to get 20-25 shots per. Billups is very unselfish, and seemed affraid to carry the load more on offense. Now, he’s gonna be the PER-FECT sidekick to Melo. And Dice, Nene, and K-Mart are gonna compliment each other in the paint IF they can stay healthy.

This is the end of FantasyDoctor’s beloved Anthony Carter’s Fantasy value…

  49. YOUNGFED says:

    @Justice
    The Gap ain’t that close
AI= Iverson, an eight-time All-Star, has averaged 27.7 points and 6.3 assists per game over his 13-year career. 2001 MVP

Billups= Billups, a year younger than Iverson at 32, has averaged 14.8 points and 5.5 assists over his 12-year career. Finals MVP

  50. SoulOnIce says:

Youngfed’s making some good points. I’m talkin’ to some folks up at the job and some other podnas, and I am still unconvinced this makes Detroit better. If anything, I’m beginning to suspect Chauncey is underappreciated. He was the glue to that team.

They must have a lotta faith in Stuckey. I guess it was gonna happen eventually, but I didn’t see this coming.

  51. Celts Fan says:

    Wow, can’t say i understand this one…

  52. control says:

    YOUNGFED

AI just don’t fit in with Detroit as well as Mr. Bigshot. AI needs to have a team built around him, he isn’t a guy who conforms to a role on a team. He needs to have a heavy defensively oriented team, with people to pass him the ball and get out of the way on offense. AI wants to win, but he wants to win doing it his way…that ain’t what Detroit is about.

I hope Joe D has some more plans, because right now the move looks pretty bad.

  53. SoulOnIce says:

I’m with Control on this one. Detroit is gonna become even more stagnant on offense, because AI dominates the ball. It’s a fact; hell, he’s my favorite player, and I can admit it. I don’t see how this one move makes them better.

  54. bubu says:

2010!!!! write all over this Trade
Billups to much $ and Yearsleft on his contract and A.I coming out of the books.

    It make sense to me!

  55. Kermit the Washington says:

I just thought of something…if we got Iverson’s contract, ‘Sheed’s contract both coming off the books next year…are we in position to run at ‘Bron ‘Bron? That would be dumb sick…

  56. QQ says:

Hey Fed, what happened to the ‘Billups: NICEST PG IN THE L, BITCHES!!!’ stance? I thought you love the guy? And now you’re basically telling us yall win the East with the guy Billups was traded for?

I never liked your antics. But I ALWAYS respected your loyalty.

    But this shit, brother… Damn.

  57. bill says:

so its said mcdyess prolly not gonna stay with the nuggets on espn…celts should pick him up if he released

  58. control says:

    QQ

YOUNGFED jumped on the Jose Calderon bandwagon. He realized that Jose is one of the top PGs in the league, and that made him sour towards Billups.

  59. SoulOnIce says:

The only thing that will help is Iverson is finally on a defensive-oriented team (only part I disagree about with Control). Still though, the only way I can see this working is if he SEVERLY tones it down, in terms of shots, shot selection, etc. He’s gonna have to take a page from the Celtics handbook last season (The Big Three all toned it down for team success). If he can conform, then it MIGHT work.

  60. karizmatic says:

    OUTSTANDING!!!! THEY FREED IVERSON!!!!

  61. Kermit the Washington says:

McNyess should be able to find himself on a contender…he doesn’t have much time left; I thought Detroit was the perfect place for him! Dag

Anyone think this is gonna have the “Gasol Effect” like last year? Denver makes this move, and now everyone’s gonna scramble rosters to try to match it?

  62. JarrJohnson says:

It’s about fu–in time!!! The Nuggets front office finally did something right. They went out and got a facilitator who will bring some semblance of order to the organized chaos that is the Nuggets offensive. J.R. can finally crack the starting five and we’ve got a legitimate vet in Dice who can spell K-Mart. All that and some cap space relief.

I agree w/those of you who said that Joe D isn’t done dealin’. A.I.’s only got one more year on his contract, so I think it was done more for future cap space relief than anything.

  63. control says:

    SoulOnIce

The problem is…every single year AI has been in the league, the thing that has been said about him is “if he controls his shot selection, gets teammates more involved and attends practice, he will break through and be a contender”. That hasn’t happened in 13 years, it won’t start now. The guy NEEDS to be the focal point of the offense, or he starts fucking around. He won’t turn the page this year, nor any year…he is what he is, and that ain’t a champion.

AI’s defense is HORRIBLE, so Detroit is the right team to cover up his short comings in that regard…he will just fuck them up offensively while he dribbles the ball for 22 seconds each possession.

  64. justice says:

    @fed

i see what ur saying but im talking on the court impact not statistically. A.I the better basketball player clearly, but billups is the better point guard and imo he impacts the game in more ways than A.I today…A.I has a way better resume but billups fits in way better with that denver sqaud he will be the guy to check Melo and J.R that’s what they needed… A.I was too busy checking himself

  65. Kudabeen says:

They say this move would enable Detroit to sign Not just a LeBron sized contract in 2010, but also a Chris Bosh sized contract…Crazy.

I didn’t think Dumars was going to pull the trigger, but I guess he was sick of seeing the same old on the floor and this also gives Michael Curry more time to work with. Seems like people realize this is a small step backwards as far as chemistry is concerned.

Also, Billups was their only matchup nightmare for Boston and Cleavland. But Iverson playing against guys his size is easy pickings as well.

Man Dumars is gonna make me get league pass…I just went through a struggle to cope with not getting it…AI is on a legit contender…All eyes on him in the D…

  66. SoulOnIce says:

People said the same thing about Paul Pierce, to an extent. Ten years in the league, and was a ballstopper, selfish, etc, etc. I mean, it has to happen sooner or later, if he’s really trying to get a championship. I agree, it hasn’t happened yet, but this is about the only time it can ever happen.

  67. K Dizzle says:

This a good deal for both squads. Detroit needed to get that hunger back and AI gonna walk into that locker room, see Joe D’s chips, see Rip, Tay, and Sheed’s rings and bring that KG type hunger. They lose a little defensively but not that much. Stuckey is 6-5 so he can guard the 2 guards if him and AI are on the floor together. I don’t get why dudes are talkin like AI’s a scrub or a cancer now. Dude balled hard in Denver and was one of like 2 dudes who actually played d in Denver. Denver’s problem was never AI, it was a team need to step up the d, and they got rid of Camby anyways so maybe they just rebuildin anyways. The Detroit squad is way better than that sixers squad AI got to the finals and he won’t have to do nearly as much.

  68. justice says:

Hey no disrespect to detroit but ur not gonna get any marquee names to sign there it’s just a fact..detroit is the most depressing city in the U.S by far..Joe D needs to makes some trades and get good draft picks..have they even signed a marquee player in detroit ever? every one was drafted, im talking even back to the bad boy days, who was a star that signed as a free agent with detroit?someone clear that up

  69. GEE....Stinkin Football! says:

Yeaaa I guess all those free Iverson post worked lol. Gotta take credit where I can.

I really hate this for Chauncy in having to deal with George Karl lol, still hopefully George Karl will be out in the next 2 years (1 I hope).

For Detroit this is interesting, good but interesting. The new scene should revitalize A.I., but wasn’t that said about Denver lol. How many revitalizations can one go through. Still he should bring that warrior that he always bring. I do wonder about team chemistry but that shouldn’t be a main concern. Defense will be the biggest thing but this should put Detroit 2 to 3 in the East.

Bring on the next trade! You should so be able to trade coaches lol.

  70. karizmatic says:

I heard on the radio Mcdyess might retire instead of going to Denver, he doesn’t want to go. I also don’t think this is the end of the Detroit trades, maybe my dream scenario of AI Captain Jack and Harrington on the same team will come true. LOL.

  71. John says:

So, that means that Detroit is A.I. team now ?

  72. baron von faulk says:

    b-b-b-ByeBye!

    Deeeetroit deeeesperate!

  73. QuEsT??? says:

i feel like a family member just died….there goes iverson’s career. on the only bright side is that the east isnt that competitive and he might go to the conference finals.

  74. Charlie says:

I like this trade for Detroit. It’s risky but can reap huge rewards. After this year they’ll have a ton of cap space to try to sign Lebron or Bosh or a big free agent and their team is still decent. All this depends on Stuckey. He’s gotta be as good as the Pistons think he can be.

  75. Jah says:

    I f’in LOVE this trade!

    Consider this lineup:

    PG – Rodney Stuckey
    SG – Allen Iverson
    SF – Rip Hamilton
PF – Jason Maxiell (don’t know if I spelled that right)
    C – Rasheed Wallace

    6 – Tayshaun Prince

This could be trouble for other teams in the East…

  76. TO says:

Does everyone beleive that Bosh will turn down “OWNING” the Raptors to sign somewhere else?
I dont see Colangelo maxing out to keep him

  77. SayItIsntSo says:

Im surprised people aren’t commenting more on Billups. Billups fit in perfectly with the pistons, im sort of scared that going to the Nuggets might mess up his swagger. Seriously, how many teams did Billups have to go to before he found the right team in Detroit? So I don’t know.

Also, why didn’t the Nuggets do this trade during the Summer? I swear that franchise is such garbage..no wonder McDysse doesn’t want to go there. And if the Nuggets don’t work out with Billups, then Melo needs to start taking accountibility for himself. I love how everyone blames Iverson for everything and Melo gets a free pass for the fact that he has only helped his team win 4 games out of five years in the playoffs. And Karl needs his @ss whooped for allowing a talented team like that go to waste.

As far as AI and the Pistons, the Pistons needed to shake things up and I trust Dumars..im happy Iverson got out of Denver because they weren’t allowing him to be himself there. I feel like they made a trade for him for all the wrong reasons. That franchise has lost all its cradebility as far as im concerned and Melo is two steps away from being labeled ‘overrated’.

  78. justice says:

No one wants to live in detroit people, lebron will not leave a small market for a small market stop it.

  79. ITZMR2U says:

I’m shook over this one. THIS move is maaaaaad depressing. I trust that Joe D is setting up the squad for future rewards, but this.. this move took what little hope Detroit fans had, of one last run at a ‘chip with Big Shot, Rip, Tay & Sheed. The makeover has officially begun. No AI or Sheed next year. Amir is now expected to step up and become the next Sheed (board, defend, score) & Maxie is in line to be the new ’6th starter’. hell… i wonder what the Lions are doi… awww damn! THIS move is maaaaaad depressing.

  80. Yung Byrd says:

Even if the trade doesn’t work out for this year, with Iverson and Sheed’s contracts coming off of the books after this year we have an unbelieveable amount of money to attract potential FAs.
2010 free agents include LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Amare Stoudemire, Ray Allen, Tyson Chandler, Manu Ginobili, Richard Jefferson, Joe Johnson, Tracy McGrady, Yao Ming, Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki and Michael Redd.
Read that if you want more info on the 2009 free agents (Boozer anyone?)

I hope the Pistons make up for the drafting of Darko and bring Bosh to where he should have been drafted!!

  82. Sam says:

I don’t get it. What’s with teams trading for past-their-prime players, or for players who don’t fit in their system (Iverson fits both of these descriptions in Detrioit)? Shaq to Phoenix, Kidd to Dallas… now this. Detroit’s back-court was right where it needed to be – what they needed was more frontcourt presence. Now they’ve gone and traded their floor captain for a proven malcontent who’s shot-happy and self-interested, they have a logjam of backcourt scorers, and they still don’t have the frontcourt presence they need. This trade ONLY makes sense insofar as Iverson will be off the books after the season, but Detroit’s not getting past Boston with THIS roster… Dumars MUST be planning some other trades. That’s the only way this move makes any sense for this season.

  83. ENEW says:

What Dumars did was put the Pistons in the position to have over $30 million come off of the books after this season. With Billups and McDyess gone (Bullups on the books til 2010, McDyess in until 2011) and Rasheed Wallace and Allen Iverson set to come off of the books, they will have a ton of flexibility. I would not be surprised if they ask Iverson to come back on the cheap to help lead this team back to the top of the east, but the question is what big man can they bring into Detroit?

They will still compete this season but with or without this trade they are not on the level of the Celtics.

  84. Mikey F Baby says:

Any reason is good enough for the Iverson haters to come up out the woodwork. Pistons Eastern Conference champs!

  85. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! says:

What’s up with all the Iverson hate on here??? So happy he is out of Denver!!! That team was going nowhere with George Karl. AI was NOT the problem in Denver!!!!!! He was their only solid player while Melo getting DUIs during the playoffs..

  86. analord says:

good trades for both teams. Chuncy is the perfect PG for Denver. While the Pistons can be really versatile in the back court and surround Iverson with a lot of help.

The only guys won’t be happy abt the trade might be folks at Adidas and RBK…the new Answer XII would have to be in Pistons color-way now….and Mr. Big Shot’s TS creator is now officially throw-back sneakers…if there’s such a term…

  87. go AI says:

Not sure how I feel about AI in Detroit though…although at least they are a legit team and the east is so weak compared to the West
