BREAKING NEWS: Bobcats To Trade Gerald Wallace

According to Pro Basketball News, there is another major trade on the immediate horizon. Multiple League sources have confirmed that a Gerald Wallace trade is “imminent,” though a destination is not specified.

Pro Basketball News speculates that Wallace might not be the only Bobcat on the move.

“There are rumors that Charlotte has also been said to have grown displeased with the inconsistent play of Raymond Felton and is also ready to pull the plug on Adam Morrison, so a massive shakeup could be in the works.”

What are some possible destinations for Wallace?

* Golden State – Though the Warriors need another small forward like they need another moped accident, Charlotte could put a potentially attractive package together – IF, and that’s a big if, Don Nelson thinks that Raymond Felton can be a long-term fix at point guard.

*Portland – We proposed Wallace for Martell Webster, Channing Frye, and a pick when this rumor initially surfaced a little while ago. On second thought, I don’t know that’s enough for MJ to bite. With Nicolas Batum looking like a potentially dangerous offensive weapon, does it sweeten the deal enough to throw him in there?

* Phoenix – The Suns are off to a strong start, but would they be willing to part with Leandro Barbosa to get Wallace?

* Miami – That Marion-for-Wallace trade makes sense if Charlotte could somehow convince Matrix to sign an extension with the team before pulling the trigger.

* New York – The Knicks basically have to be mentioned in every trade conversation. They might not be serious contenders to get Wallace, but they’ll probably dangle the standard offer of Curry/Marbury and see what MJ says for a good laugh.

Oh, and what are the odds Mike will come out of retirement to be on a sorry team again?

  • CitizenB

Wallace always shows up when the Bobcats play the Heat……coincidence?!?

  • bauc

Wallace for Barbosa makes sense for Phoenix, not so much for the Bobcats.
And The Matrix would never sign an extension, knowing he would have to play for the Bobcats.
The Knicks should take anything they get for those to a**holes

  • Kudabeen

    Why Wallace?

Trade Felton, Morrison, even Jason Richardson…I hope they package Wallace, Morrison, and Felton…

  • yoda

so LB is on his quest to ruin one more team, like he did with knicks.

  • Jah

We knew something was going to happen soon when Charlotte drafted D.J. this past summer…I imagine a package deal but, not necessarily for a “big name” but rather for some “favorable/flexible” contracts…

…Charlotte is a mess right now.

  • RENO

Bobcats = The Bad News Bears….. Without the happy ending.

  • Richard from Cleveland

I think they should bring him 2 the cavs make a trade of ben Wallace & wally szerbiak and send us gerald that would make the cavs a running team with gerald at the 4. And we will be good we could take felton 2 we would jus have alot of small guards but I think it would work.

Lot of funny trades this morning. Starbury and Curry? Big Ben and Wally? Pavlovic and Wally? for Wallace? Too much.

  • rell

If I was MJ I would not trade Wallace for any of these players. If the Bobcats offered Wallace for Barbosa if I was Kerr would do the trade in a heartbeat. A lineup of Nash, Bell, Wallace, Amare, and Shaq could make move them to the top 4 team in the West.

I would send Wallace to Utah for AK-47. Then trade Felton to Golden State for Azubuike.

  • Mooks

I’m calling it… 3 team trade involving the Knicks, Bobcats, and Spurs:
    – Wallace to Golden State
    – Harrington to NY Knicks
    – Curry to San Antonio
    – ??? from San Antonio to Charlotte (probably expiring contracts?)

  • Drink the Haterade (KB24 Chip 09)

LA should trade LO for Crash

Yeah Quest, that Detroit trade might happen, I don’t think Dumars is done wheeling and dealing. Price and/or Sheed for Wallace and/or Felton? Something else to make the numbers match? Charlotte gets NC Alum Rasheed. Maybe after that he goes after Vince Carter, if they keep Felton and May they could put together a UNC college all star team. Isn’t that what him and MJ have always wanted to do? Maybe MJ could come out of retirement and give them 5 minutes a game or so.

  • SK

MJ is a terrible GM, even worse with LB in his ear (remember the Francis trade?). I’m sure whatever they get in return will be awful.

  • BEdger

hands off Batum…..he’s not going anywhere

  • Brown

If Felton and Morrison can’t make it in Charlotte, why would ANY team in the NBA want them?

Crash is injury prone, something all GMs are aware of.

I doubt Charlotte gets much in return for him. Draft picks will have to be part of the deal.

    @Banga (#13)
I hear ya. The Raps need a guy like him, but have NOTHING to give back in return, even if they threw in a couple picks.

  • johnny

Portland can pull it off the most, imo.

They could do Outlaw, Webster and one of Diogu/Frye.
Maybe some 2nd rounders too. But if Charlotte wants to go heavy on dumping, then they should look at Starbury. They could get rid of Adam, Raymond and Nazr too.

Detroit should only look at giving up scrubs and picks for him. They have Rip and Tay already, and they might be less in a Fantasy League, but…they are extremely intelligent players on both sides of the ball. I don’t know if Gerald is so much. His stats might be inflated and theirs deflated.
