Cast Your All-Star Ballot Here
Today is the first day of All-Star voting. Though the polls close on January 19th, a full two months from now, it isn’t too early to cast your vote. It’s early. But never too early. You know that if Gilbert were actually playing this year, he would have already had his All-Star campaign politicking in your locale since Halloween.
Though we wish that the League took up Austin’s suggestion to change the ballot to reflect the way the game is really played, we’re not going to pull a Gilbert and pretend to abstain from voting. And goodness it is tough to choose just two guys in the guard/forward categories. Though you know a bunch more guys will make the actual roster, how can you choose between LeBron, Pierce, KG, Bosh, and Danny Granger?
We’ve got the entire ballot listed below - scour carefully and cast your All-Star Ballot in the comments section below:

I picked based on who is killing numbers wise right now but the season is still early. The most difficult position for me was the fowards in the East since you have KG, PP and Bosh but I’m sure they will make the reserves. In the West it’s hard because you end up having to play power fowards over small fowards and your starting lineup looks gay.
I hate it when people do it on NBA live so I definitely don’t want to see players play out of position in the Allstar game.

And please people base your votes on who is actually playing well this year. I hate to see guys that have been injured or not playing well and still make the squad. Then you have players that are perinnial just because of there name like Iverson, Duncan, T-mac, Vince Carter (especially this guy he’s playing pretty good this year but fans usually vote him in because they want to see his athleticism but if your not playing well you should not be playing in an allstar game.
November 13th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
David Brandon says:
@andrew,
i dont think it slipped through the cracks so much as a player has to actually PLAY to be considered. while its turned into something more of a popularity contest lately (which has KINDA been changing seeing as shaq didnt get on the team last year), if a players always injured or doesnt play and is named an all star, whats that say to guys who’ve been bustin their ass every night hoopin and get burned?? thats not cool. maybe its just a buncha shallow fans who dont understand or truly follow the L, but it should be based on the contributions to the team and….honestly, how exciting that player is. if beno udrih got 10 dimes per, but was boring as hell doin it, then nope, cant go. its the all star game man!! it should be at least fun to watch too…

let me drop a little knowledge about the all star ballot, first of all this ballot is made by a panel of media folks and is finished and handed into the NBA a week BEFORE the season starts. They are REQUIRED to have AT LEAST 3 players from every team on the ballot.
Come on people, you find 3 players from OKC or Minnesota or Sacremento to put on the ballot. It aint that easy
November 13th, 2008 at 4:23 pm

One thing I notice about this list: the (top) talent disparity between East and West is reduced this year. The top five East players might be better than the top five West players. The West is much deeper overall, though.
