Chris Paul Looks To Make History

As I’m sure everyone is experiencing today, watching basketball with your parents is definitely different than watching ball with your boys. The analysis, insights and the occassional “Where’s so-and-so?” (in reference to a guy who’s been out of the League for five years now) is much different than you’re used to hearing.
So tonight I’ll be lucky to get my Dad to stay up for at least one of the games in NBA on TNT’s Thanksgiving doubleheader. Partly because of the tryptophan, partly because he’s just getting kind of old.
Following up on Austin’s NBA Match Game Thanksgiving edition, these are the storylines I’m looking forward to tonight.
In Game 1, after a slow start, the red-hot Magic hope to regain some believers in the Eastern Conference as they head to D.C. to take on the Wizards. With Ed “Obama” Tapscott at the helm, the Wizards look like a new team. But at the end of the day, Washington is 0-9 against Eastern Conference teams, including 0-4 against Southeast Division foes. I don’t see them getting the W tonight.
In Game 2, Chris Paul is en route to make history in Denver. CP3 looks to record his third consecutive triple-double after he had 29 points, 10 rebounds and 16 assists in a win over the Thunder on Saturday and 14 points, 10 boards and a season-high 17 assists in Monday night’s victory over the Clippers.
If Paul can accomplish the feat, he’d be one of only three players to do so in the past 10 years – Jason Kidd did it last season from January 4-8 and Grant Hill did it from April 11-14, 1997.
Do you think CP3 will record his third consecutive triple-double tonight?

He’s got momentum on his side, but he’s up against Billups as apposed to the Thunder and the Clippers.

It’ll be quite tough but not totally impossible. I’m sure he could care less. Just wants to win the game which in itself may be tough to overcome if Peja and Tyson are a no show tonight.

Considering that he’s not usually a huge triple double guy, and that Billups drives him crazy, I say I’m going to be counting the history making steals instead.

Chris Paul is not looking for a triple double. He’s looking for a win. Hopefully he gets it tonight.

I like CP and all, but this doesn’t count as “making history”. It was done just last year, Aron – how is that “history”?

–> Funny, I never saw them play this whole season.
It’s a good thing I passed on these guys in my Fantasy League. Hornets are not getting past the 2nd round if they continue to play like trash. CP3 needs players to complement his skills for him to be able to take over games.

@ baraks: um, were we watching the same game? The Hornets look good tonight. CP was a monster late, D-West got his 15 and 8, while Peja got 17 on 4-7 shooting from deep. Oh yeah, and Rasual Butler, starting in place of injured Mo Peterson, got 19 on 7-8 shooting and 4-5 from deep. Doesn’t sound like trash to me. I’m going to go ahead and assume you suck in your fantasy league.
