Who Do the Mavericks Need the Most?
Could the Mavs use Steph? As we said yesterday, it’s obvious that the Mavericks need to do something right now. (Dealing with the Security & Exchanges Commision might be a good start.) And clearly we’re not the only ones who think so. Dallas has had “casual conversations” with a host of teams about the following players.
Who do you think would benefit the Mavericks the most?
* Chris Kaman – Though Mike Dunleavy denied that Kaman is available, the Clippers are so bad the front office would entertain offers for their own mothers right now.
* Gerald Wallace – Wallace is the type of guy that everyone wants on their team, but he would cost a pretty penny. The Mavs’ aren’t going to be able to give up DeSagana Diop and get Wallace back.
* Stephon Marbury – Don’t discount Steph here. Before every Knick game this season, he’s on the court working out, and he looks as quick as ever. Instead of going and hitting the showers after working on his first step, he could be a big help for a Dallas team whose point guard doesn’t ever get to the rack.
* Al Harrington – He’s available. But he sure doesn’t make this team any younger or any more athletic.
* Javaris Crittenton – Given Chris Wallace’s track record, why not call him up and offer him yesterday’s turkey sandwich for Crittenton?
* Jamaal Tinsley – He might not be as good an option as Marbury, but he’d be cheaper.

Chris Kaman comment is gold…but also probably true.
If Steph is looking quick, then I guess Dallas could use him to fetch the real team players some gatoraid, or clean towels and shit. If a team is really interested in starting a spiral that will end up with them probably being the worst team in the NBA, picking up Steph is a good way to start.

i’d take Tinsley before Marbury. Carlisle cant work with softies. He’s best with hard-working dudes with that “leave it all on the floor” ethic. Like when he was winning with the Pistons.

Wallace would keep the people entertained – and God knows right now Cubes needs to hang onto the money that he has coming in because Uncle Sam might work him over real well after this SEC business,
I would actually love to see Marbury go down there and attempt to revive himself, he can and STILL will be a weapon somewhere

Yesterday’s turkey sandwich? Are you referring to Jason Kidd?

George W Kush Sr says:
They cant trade Diop for Wallace but I’m sure the Pacers might do it for Tinsley, along with a second round pick or something. Atleast the Knicks still keep Marbury around, I think Tinsley’s not even allowed to be in the State of Indiana by now.

JCARR says:
Wallace for howard and trash like barrea, dampier or something.
Or Chris kaman… maybe dallas can do with him what the clips haven’t even started. (2 legitimate 7′ contributing on a nightly basis and most importantly getting W’s)

Kaman or Wallace would be a good pickup. The rest are garbage.

And you know they want Kaman because of how they played together in the Olympics, but who they gonna offer?

Man have you watched the clippers the last few years- Kaman is garbage, pure garbage!! he is extremely inconsistent the only time he played anything close to good was in his contract year- since then NOTHING! THAT SAID HE WOULD LOOK GREAT IN A DALLAS UNIFORM NEXT TO HIS FORMER GERMAN NATIONAL TEAMMATE!

Easy.
Here is what the Dallas Mavs need.
Since Mark Cuban is married to Dirk….they need to put the proper pieces around him….again.
Start with a point guard. Memphis has several (mike conley, javaris and kyle lowry). They should really pursue Raymon Felton from the Bobcats (larry brown will make dj augustin the starter before the year is over–thus making dj the future point).
And of they are doing a deal with charlotte, they should also look to acquire (either) jason richardson or adam morrison. They need help at the two guard sport. more athleticism, long range shooting and perimeter defense.
Erick Dampier in the middle is over…..start desagna diop and get chris wilcox from OK City to play the 4/5 off the bench.
imagine this team:
raymon felton
jason richardson
josh howard
dirk nowitzki
desegna diop
sure beats the starting lineup they have now…

Jay55 GM says:
Heckler no matter anyone says that is a brilliant idea! Crossed my mind as well, Dallas could give up Dampier, Stack, Wright and Terry. Bring in Richardson, Felton, Carroll and Morrison. (If only is Dallas could get Redick)
Charlotte gets some seasoned vets for Coach Brown and Dallas gets young and exciting.

J-Kidd for Marbury doesn’t sound bad…might as well shake things up for real. If they could get Chris Kaman that would be good too.

I say trade Howard for Marion straight up problem solved. With Kidd feeding Marion on the break it’s a wrap. Honestly they should figure out how to move Dirk soft ass.

dagwaller says:
Kaman would be ideal. Trade him for Stackhouse. Dallas finally gets a post scorer, the Clips would get a shooting guard that can play, and both teams would rid themselves of a redundant player (sort of).

Banga says:
The Mavericks messed up when they traded Devin Harris
They need to add some toughness to this squad. They need a player with some real attitude that don’t take shit from anyone. they don’t have a single player on their team that and opposing team should be afgraid of. They have the same problem the raptors had last year… They were way too soft.
The raps are still soft but adding O’neal helped them in the situation and they have some swag now.
On a side note.. Everyone’s talking about the Spurs, Celtics or the Heat evantually landing marbury…
Don’t sleep on Bryan Colangelo.. The raptors need a scorer at the wing spot and steph has already gone on record saying he would play the two.
If Colangelo pulls that off the raptors will be more than just a sleeper pick to win the east

If they can get Kaman they should trade for him. Anything is better than Dampier.

You wish Marbury onto my Raps again I will slit your throat. There is NO WAY Marbury is better than Jose right now, and there’s no way Marbury backs up Jose. Don’t be talking that crazy shit about my Raps, fuck off.

Chris Kaman because he’s by far the best player mentioned.
Gerald Wallace is a good runner up.
