Deron Williams’ Rocky Return

Deron WilliamsD-Will

Though Deron Williams isn’t visibly limping right now, he clearly isn’t himself. He looks hesitant when he drives past the foul line, and isn’t springing off of that bum ankle anywhere close to 100%.

Combine D-Will’s 1-7 outing thus far with the fact that the Jazz are on the road, and you can see why they were outscored 30-14 in the third quarter, including a 22-6 run at one point.

Since then, it’s actually been another member of Utah’s backcourt who has put them back on top. Ronnie Brewer is servicing the Sixers right now – he’s outscoring Philly 9-4 in the 4th quarter so far.

With his ankle still bothering him, we won’t be seeing any of this out of Deron tonight.

  2. S-SiN says:

he should rest that ankle. it’s too early in the year to try to rush a return, if he can’t pull up he should be at home watchin film with dumbells. i wonder if he’s ever thinking bout how do i lose that austin powers no.2 label now..

what about them all star ballots!

  6. phenom says:

man, the Hawks would be the best team in the L for the forseeable future if they had only drafted CP3 or DWill over that fool Marvin Williams

  7. Peter Robert Casey says:

Trying to come back too soon. While I understand his frustration, he’s not making it any better for the whole.

  8. Dennis Castro says:

Didn’t matter, the Sixers are garbage right now. Millsap is a very, very good player and it’s a shame he’s stuck behind Boozer.

while most of the experts/analyst will be sucking on chris paul this year, deron williams will make his claim as the best point guard in the nba.

look for him to outshine cp3 and every other point guard this year.

i still don’t know who is better btwn the two or whom i’d rather have…..but just as last season belonged to chris paul (and the hornets), this season will belong to deron williams (and the jazz)

All you regulars know he’s my favorite player. ‘Nuff said.
@post 3-Jamison should have more votes than that.

Jazz are deep, 6-1 and still haven’t played a game with all of their starters in the line-up. DWill is going to be fine with time, Brevin Knight has been a surprise and will be a better back-up than he’s had before, plus Milsap and Brewer, Boozer (if he finds a heart somewhere to rent) and Okur all in better shape than ever. And if you look closely AK-47 will be the top 6th man in the league and is off to his best start, both mentally and physically, and will win as many games by doing little things than any other player on the team outside of Deron. The Jazz may end up as the top seed in the west fellas.

  12. Dave says:

If the Jazz could get all their starters on the floor at the same time they could be tough for anyone to beat. DWill, plus Brewer, Milsap, and AK coming off the bench, not to mention if Boozer can rent a heart from someone this year, you’re looking at the 1 or 2 seed in the west.

  13. Amar says:

the jazz brass and medical staff would NEVER have okay’d him if he wasn’t physically fit to play. he just inked a max contract extension over the summer and is the franchise player. they’re not going to take a chance on rushing him back.

he does have Tx heart though. the jazz looked so much better in the half court with him playing. let’s not forget that the JAZZ beat a team a lot of ‘experts’ were feeling this off season when the jazz were without Matt Harpring (our main bench weapon last season); Former All-Star Mehmet Okur (starting center); Kyrylo Fesenko (back up center who had a visa issue); Jarron Collins (10 year vet at center). and they beat them on the road. (where the jazz struggled last season) with a 19 year old rookie starting who has more pimples this season than rebounds.

    take that elton/dalembeast.
