Sheed Chin Music
Rasheed Wallace (photo. NBA)Every time the Rasheed Wallace critics think they have an air-tight case to call BS on the Rasheed Wallace loyalists for their “He’s a Top-10 NBA talent” argument, ‘Sheed delivers a game like last night’s 25-point, 13-rebound effort against the Lakers, where the Pistons knocked off the League’s last undefeated team. In all honesty, most of us in the office thought L.A. would cruise, given the way the two teams had recently switched roles. Remember when Detroit was the definition of teamwork, chemistry and versatility, while the Lakers were the disjointed group trying to adjust to one superstar’s game? But last night Detroit was the better team from the jump: out-executing L.A. in the half-court, outrunning them in the transition game, and shutting down what had been the League’s hottest offense (the Lakers had just 62 points going into the fourth quarter). In one of his All-Star caliber nights, Rasheed was getting out on the break for dunks and hitting some ridiculous threes, like the one he nailed off the glass with Pau Gasol draped all over him, after which ‘Sheed was laughing in Gasol’s face … If it seemed like Kobe was shooting every time you looked up, it’s because he pretty much was. He jacked up 30 shots on his way to 29 points, but in Kobe’s defense, not many of his teammates decided to show up. And you could tell from Kobe’s body language that he felt the same way … In the one schoolyard where Shaq used to relish being the bully, the Suns narrowly avoided wasting a Vintage Shaq performance (29 pts, 13 rebs, 6 asts) thanks to Amare’s heroics in Sacramento. After Amare hit an elbow jumper with 4.3 seconds left in overtime to put the Suns up by two, John Salmons got the rock with a mostly clear path on the baseline, but instead of going for a sensible shot or trying to draw a foul, Salmons thought he was Vince Carter and tried to punch a reverse dunk in Amare’s face. STAT tossed that one back, and then swatted Spencer Hawes‘ last-ditch putback to seal the win … Not to pull a T-Mac move, but if you’re Carmelo Anthony, you’ve got to be able to almost smell the second round of the playoffs. The Chauncey Billups trade is looking more like a genius move every day for the Nuggets, who went into Boston and walked out with a convincing win. On his way to 18 points and seven assists, Chauncey was making every correct decision down the stretch, whether it was hitting the open man or calling his own number. With K-Mart playing KG to a draw, the Nuggets kept their cool in crunch time and were solid on D throughout; they’re like a completely different team … Along with Shaun White, John McEnroe and Spike, some of the Dime crew was at MSG for Knicks/Thunder. After the Jerome James “chicken change” incident, the Knicks slapped 116 on the board in another win, getting 29 and 19 boards from Zach Randolph, the latest big man to take part in the “Who’s Eating Robert Swift?” lineup … Steve Smith in the NBA TV studio on the Spurs: “They can still run that offense no matter who it is, just plug them in.” But if we’ve learned anything from this Ginobili/Parker-less stretch, it’s that that’s definitely NOT the case anymore. San Antonio isn’t like a college football powerhouse, where the All-American starters are replaced by a younger batch of All-Americans waiting in the wings. They’re struggling because you can’t just plug George Hill and 47-year-old Mike Finley into Parker and Manu’s spots … The Spurs were able to beat the Rockets last night, though, but it was because of defense, because they held short-handed Houston to 75 points, because T-Mac had 7 points and because Tim Duncan (22 pts) got a huge block on Aaron Brooks on a key possession late in the fourth … Chris Paul had his 20-10 streak snapped, but his 17 points and nine dimes were enough to push the Hornets past the Blazers in a game that was actually a letdown all the way around. Neither team was on top of their game; even the unflappable Brandon Roy made some head-scratching decisions late in the fourth when Portland still had a chance to win. We don’t wanna think guys were affected by the extra-curriculars, but it wouldn’t be the first time that’s happened in New Orleans … Greg Oden got his first double-double, posting 11 points, 11 boards and four blocks off the bench … Cute moment during Pacers/Sixers where Kareem Rush checked into the game and went over to guard Brandon Rush, and as soon as they made eye contact both brothers stopped playing it cool and broke into huge smiles. The best part? Mo Cheeks was obviously going for the Kodak moment, because he put Kareem on the court way earlier than he usually does (it was the first quarter) and he summoned Kareem off the bench almost as soon as the Pacers put Brandon in … But that was the end of the cuteness for the Pacers. They put on their Dallas Mavericks costumes for a night, leading by as much as 25 in the first quarter and somehow losing the game. Roy Hibbert’s stat line summed up the ugliness: One minute, two points, three fouls … We’re out like Swift …

Dime, Sheed killed lastnight…but ya’ll have to give Kwame his props for showing up after ya’ll were clowning him the other day. LOL!!!!!
Also, Iverson and Prince did a great job lastnight as well. Chancy looked good with the Nuggets against the Pistons, but with all this talk about Iverson supposidly messing up the Pistons chemistry we have to give Iverson his props for helping his team win in convencing fashion as well. They dominated the Lakers lastnight. This seems like a good trade for both sides. You cant add a player of Iversons dynamics on a team who has gained chemistry for 6 years and expect results overnight, which the majority of the media did and couldnt wait to start ragging on the guy. I think once the Pistons start to gel completely..that team looks real scary adding that type of offense to their defense. Sheed and Tay are playing great with AI and once Rip gets his swagger back..oh boy, this season is getting real interresting.
I think the Nuggets will be more balanced and hopefully will win more then one game in the Playoffs or maybe even upset a team in the first round.Im not sure about them being a “completely different team”, they looked a little crazy against the Cavs. But some of these other franchises are strickly about contending and wont except anything less..happy to see Iverson on a team like that.
Glad to see the Spurs pull off the win..tired of seeing Timmys team struggle.
And I cant wait to see all the people that are going to come up in here mad as hell because Dime keeps saying Sheed is a top 10 player, LMAOOO!! Sheed is underappreciated though.

Sheed did his usual abuse of Pau like he always used to do back in Memphis. He always owns Gasol and loves doing it. There was a game in Memphis one time that you could hear Sheed yell “You cant stop me Pu$$y” right in Gasol’s face and Pau didnt do anything. It was a big to talk about on Memphis radio the next day on whether or not Pau could be the lead dog in Memphis, and I guess we learned he couldnt.

It’s nice to see a trade that hooks up both squads like the AI-Big shot deal, both teams are infinitely improved. How does adding Chauncey magically heal KMART? He’s playing like he was a #1 back when.
No mention of the Bobcats actually winning a game? The Gerald Wallace put back was nuts. Peace.

man i watched dallas vs orlando… and all I have to say is WOW the dallas mavericks are a team that is playing in 6th gear while the car has problems shifting from 4 to 5. So when they go on too long they’re donzo at the end of the game and orlando seriously. Look dwight howard is a supreme athlete but not exactly smooth moving. He can jump out of the building but besides that he looks more and more like a stiff out there. He catches the ball almost straight up and then tries to do one of them ‘fakes’ ending in a ‘hook-shot’ and those free throws man. oh the fact that they shoot over 30 threes in a game can’t be a good thing.
And to answer your quistion sans. Kenyon Martin is a player who plays hard when he get’s involved in things. So when you involve him in your offense give him touches some oop passes he’ll run through a brick wall for you so to speak. When yuo don’t he’ll just go through the motions and call it a night. J-Kidd knows that and Chauncy Billups also. AI was the involvement resulting in over 25 shots for the man who was supposed to be the saving guard for the franchise.

What? says:
AB_40
Iverson averaged the most assists in Denver and when he did he was the main person getting Kenyon involved when Kenyon would go off. Iverson averaged only 19 shots per game and less then Melo, he would rarely shoot over 25 times a night. I wish some of you would watch the games instead of listening to what the media has to tell you or just assuming. Iverson isnt a PG, we all should know by now that he’s a combo gaurd, so I dont know why people expect that guy to be something he’s not. The Nuggets basically traded for Iverson with no plan in place, traded off their PG to aquire Iverson and never really addressed the PG issue..fastforward one and a half seasons later and here they are trading off Iverson for another PG that is similar to the one they had before. So they basically did all that for nothing. And traded off their center in the process.
The Nuggets knew good and well when they traded for Iverson that they needed to address that backcourt issue and they never did. You dont make a major trade for a player like that without a plan in place. That offense in Denver is too undisciplined to not have had a legit PG. Im just saying if you are a franchise that wants a play making PG then maybe you shouldnt make a trade for a player that holds the third highist PPG average in the history of the league just to turn around and handcuff his game. Karl said 100 times that they brought him to Denver to score the ball, thats his job thats what he does..its other people that want him to be something he’s not. Just a thought.
I agree with sans that its nice to see both teams benefit from this. I think Denver is a decent team, thats about it. But I do think Chauncy can help there. Its also nice to see Iverson play his type of game again and be surrounded by bigs. The problem in Denver is that they never found a proper backcourt mate for him, the PGs that the Nuggets did get were too small to team up with Iverson. In Detroit, they dont start any player under 6-6. Watching him play right now in Detroit reminds me of how handcuffed his game seemed in Denver. He looks like a kid out there in Detroit, he is free again to run around in the half court set like he did in Philly..where as in Denver they would just stand around in the half court set, because it seems there were no set plays, that still seems the case in Denver though. But yeah, I feel like its a win for both teams.

I was cracking up all night when Mike Gorman and Tommy kept on confusing Kenyon Martin and Carmelo. Probably did it 6-8 times.
In their defense, they do look somewhat similar. Both guys have a lot of ink, wear a headband, have that silly goatee, short hair now.
Also Gorman said he would go get his hair cut at Carmelo’s place when they head out to Denver.

the Lakers kept it somewhat interesting to watch in the last 6 minutes though. kept trying hard, i liked seeing that. Phil didn’t take his starters out and kept them on the court to play full court D. i’m sure it would have paid off a little more if “the machine” could keep his hands to himself. a lot of fouls that made their little run at the end obsolete.

I’m kinda glad Detroit’s in the Eastern Conference if they gonna get games like that from Sheed and AI even with Rip havin an off night cuz they can soften up Cleveland or Boston in the ECF. It’s never a good look when Fish goes 4-16, but it’s all good cuz we hadda lose sometime. Might as well be to a team with something to prove. Hopefully, my “soft” 7-1 Lakers have somethin for Chicago next game. Only reason Sheed ain’t a top 10 talent is consistency, but dude’s been bringin it. This the year of dudes bringin it back: Shaq, K-Mart, Sheed, etc

Tryin to say Oden is legit after one good game is just as insane as Shaq sayin him and Kobe are the best guard center combo ever.

SHEED is a top ten talent…top ten player no…but if your going on TALENT, he is top ten…Name one other Power Foward/Center who can dominate the post, and then stand out behind the 3 point line and drain buckets all day too…and don’t say Dirk, dude can’t play in the post.
Sure Garnett and Duncan and them can shoot around 20 feet, but not behind the long line.
And last nights chuckle in Gasol’s face reminded me of his punking of Nocioni when you clearly yells glass shooting in Nocioni’s eyes…
