Randy FoyeRandy Foye (photo. Jeff Forney)

If he can crank out 70 more games like the one he had Sunday, Randy Foye might get people to forgive the Wolves for choosing him over Brandon Roy. In what was honestly the best game we’ve seen him play as a pro, Foye lit up the Pistons for 23 points and 14 dimes, giving the Wolves their first road win of the season and providing a glimpse into what Kevin McHale is envisioning for this franchise down the road: Foye and Al Jefferson as the outside-inside 1-2, with strong role players like Ryan Gomes, Craig Smith and Mike Miller filling the gaps … During the pre-game show on the Pistons broadcast, the announcers were really making it sound like they were legitimately worried about Minnesota, pointing out that Minny leads the League in assist-to-turnover ratio and that their bench drops 40-plus points per game. We thought it was just a case of hyping up the opponent to keep viewers interested, but they must have known something we didn’t, because the Wolves came out looking like an entirely different team than the one that got destroyed by the Celtics the other day … The Pistons, on the other hand, looked exactly like the team that got destroyed by the Celtics the other day. Tayshaun Prince (20 pts) was the only one who really showed up, and A.I., Rip and Rasheed couldn’t buy a bucket, shooting a combined 8-for-32 from the field. “I stunk up the gym tonight,” Iverson said. “I couldn’t do anything right on the offensive end. It was one of the nights you wish you never have, but they happen. It will be tough to sleep tonight.” … During that aforementioned Minnesota/Boston game, the C’s announcers were saying Kevin Love would be better off with an Eastern Conference team. Love has talent and instincts, but he doesn’t really fit into what the Wolves are doing. (Think they regret the O.J. Mayo trade?) And since Jefferson owns the paint over there, Love is often literally outside his element 18-20 feet from the basket … Anyone else look at Will Bynum and see Nate Robinson after the hops start to decline? … After getting shut down by the Lakers on Friday and struggling in general lately, Carmelo got in a late-night shooting session to work out the kinks in his jumper before coming back to face the Bulls yesterday. It worked, as ‘Melo had his stroke back (21 pts, 13 rebs, 8 asts), nailing a three to give the Nuggets the lead in the fourth quarter, then extending the lead with a two-hand monster dunk that was so vicious we mistook him for Kenyon Martin for a sec. That was the highlight of a 13-0 Denver run that sent Chicago packing, which was punctuated by K-Mart himself throwing down a signature K-Mart dunk and scaring the entire first two rows after screaming at everyone … Who besides Kobe has more in-air body control/hang-time than Derrick Rose? … It’s been a while, but today we’ve got a new installment of “Pass the Mic,” where we give up the space for our readers to post their own columns. This time we’re handing it over to Sarah Tolcser, founder and editor of HornetsHype.com and known as “ticktock6″ on the DimeMag.com comments section … Elton Brand hasn’t exactly been the 20-10-2 machine we’re used to since coming over to Philly, but he looked every bit the All-Star while feasting on the Warriors for 23 points and 12 boards. (Wait, a big man had a monster game against Golden State? Shocker.) Philly dominated the glass (of course) and forced GS to play their style: there were hardly any fast-breaks on either side, Stephen Jackson and Corey Maggette couldn’t hit anything, and Anthony Morrow (6 pts) may have officially come back to Earth … Jamal Crawford didn’t suit up for the Warriors. He’s supposed to be taking his physical later today and will play tomorrow against the Wizards … The Celtics didn’t need Paul Pierce to jump in the phone booth and save them this time around, as they beat the Raptors convincingly on Toronto’s court. Pierce had a quiet 11 points, while Ray Allen hit five threes and finished with 21 points in an up-and-down game where Rajon Rondo was making Jose Calderon‘s life hell. Calderon is like the new Steve Nash. As good as he is controlling the tempo and distributing, he’s constantly getting busted on defense. Devin Harris gave him 30 in The Vince Carter Game, and Rondo (15 pts) had Calderon chasing him around all day on Sunday … Jermaine O’Neal tried to give it a go on that left knee he hurt against New Jersey, but he couldn’t make it out of the second quarter. O’Neal said he’ll be good to go Wednesday against the Bobcats, but between he and T-Mac downplaying their recent knee injuries, we have a bad feeling somebody is going down soon … Was everyone at the AMA’s baked? Kanye, Raekwon, the dude from Coldplay; it seemed everybody had shared some extra-strong stuff in the green room before the show. Kanye’s “I wanna be the next Elvis!” speech was on some other level of weirdness … We’re out like J.O. …

is it just me, or does foye looks like a midget in that photo…

anyway, that detroit game was downright ugly – hamed ugly… that’s just a sign that AI’s slowing down – when was the last time he scored less than 10 anyways??? maybe time to sport the “grown man” do?

let me guess elton brand’s next big game… ahhhh, new york – where mbah a moute got 10 boards in the 1st quarter alone…

    we’re out like foye doubters…

  • Soopa

On NBA.com’s video highlights of Bulls – Nuggets, they even gave Melo’s dunk to K-Mart. Cant blame them too much, not used to seeing that kind of power from Melo.

The only game aired in my country was Raptors-Celtics and my god did they Raps stink it up. It was nowhere as close as the final score indicates. Only Ray of the Big 3 played more then 28 mins og Boston had about 50+ points in the paint. It was kinda embarassing to be honest…

  • Steve Nasty

Yeah the old Mayo for K Love, Miller trade lookin like a Memphis win. But they will probably trade him to the Cavs for Ben Wallace next year.

  • Sweet English

Speakin of Nate Robinsons hops, anyone see his highlight reel couple days ago where he dropped about three crossovers lookin like the rock was attached to his hands by elastic before spinning and jumping so high he pretty much dropped the ball down into the bucket from about 5 feet away a la Dwight Howard. That guy is inspirational to us sub six footers.

Kenny George shows that if your a big guy, you don’t have to have any talent to be a dead cert draft (if he still had both feet, that is) where as Nate proved like Muggsy did before that you gotta have a lotta talent to make it as a small man in this league. Nates gotta be one of the most talented guys in the league. if only he had another few inches on him, he’d be killin it.

  • Yoooo

You whalin Dime. Will Bynum has BOUNCE last week he was takin off outside the lane tryna bang on big men. The lil dude STILL gets up. Or are yall forgetting how he used to do cats when he played for G Tech. That was only like 4-5 years ago…

  • ERIC

Dime – the other day you guys wondered why Derek Fisher doesnt catch more flak for being a gunner. I have to totally agree with you guys.. He pulls up for jumpers in transition when he has Kobe, Gasol, Bynum, Ariza or Odom with him…forces dumb shots, and feels the need to shoot whenever he has an inch of space.

Maybe the 3 rings, family hardship he had to endure with his daughter, and the fact that he’s the union president and his veteram saavy and good defense prob saves him from criticism.

But boy needs to stop chuckin. shot 3-12 last night

What is happening with the Piss-tons?

  • http://afl.com.au josh tha roc

yeah i watched about 10 seconds of a lakers game the other day and saw Fish jack 2 ill advised jumpers on the break.

  • the rocket cat

Anyone think Sam Mitchell is on the hot seat yet?

I’ve never seen a team so consistently poor at executing to start the game, after half, and after time-outs. It seems as though the only time the Raptors are any good is when they haven’t had a chance to talk to their coach.

They struggle to get the ball into the hands of their best player (Bosh). That might be excusable if he played low post, but he’s a high post guy. How hard can it be to design a play to get the ball into the high post?

Fire Mitchell and make JO a player coach. I mostly want this to happen because we haven’t seen a player coach in years and I think it would be ridiculous.

  • Sweet English

QQ – Are you talking about the Detroit Piss-Poors?

Ha Ha lil nick name i coined a few days ago.

    YOUNGFED don’t hurt me…

  • s.bucketz

  • Sweet English

LMAO @ Solomon Whats up with that, dude does look like a Midget!

Yo even better, How much does the guy look like Dwight Howards mini-me!

  • sans

I think Bron has midair body control superior to Rose’s….I really want to see the Pistons gel, as much as it may fux with my Cavs, just so AI can go out on top…

  • Kobeef

    @the rocket
Something needs to change in Toronto. When Jermaine is on the floor they are a borderline playoff team but when he is out (which it seems there is a good chance he will be for most of this season) they are the softest team in the NBA.

Unless Kevin Love becomes a different player than we’ve seen so far he will be one of those “I told you so” players who completely falls on his face in the NBA (see Sean May, Eddy Curry, Sheldon Williams)

  • that’s whats up

the Foye pic should have come next to a low water crossing sign instead, so you could line up his height in feet. (info for the next photo shoot)

  • that’s whats up

…and Foye looks like Dwight Howard and Dwyane Wade’s baby boy

  • John

    @ Dime –

” Who besides Kobe has more in-air body control/hang-time than Derrick Rose? … ”

D-Wade. Nobody do lay-ups better than D-Wade. Mid range jumpers plus the foul etc ,,, thats, my friend is body control.

  • http://www.geocities.com/dimemag Dagomar

“Who besides Kobe has more in-air body control/hang-time than Derrick Rose?”

    -Lebron James
    -Vince Carter
    -Dwayne Wade

I mean, losing badly to the MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES??? The Piss-tons are really lame right now.

  • PWeezy

lol weezy yaaaamon foye looks like midget that works for howard stern…does he really look like that????? man he looks like a bug

  • Mikey B

Do you think it could ever be possible to trade coaches and if so do you think the Raptors can trade Sam Mitchell to the Mavs for Rick Carlisle

  • lad NBB

off topic, but is it me or does anybody else think that dwade has been the best player so far this season, and why is kobe shooting such a low percentage when taken into account the offensive threats on the lakers attracting enough attention to afford kobe more space and less double teams.

  • Da Chi 23/33

How long before the Bulls start cutting salary for a 2010 run. I can’t be the only person that sees that there is not a single NBA starting caliber big man on this team….Drew Gooden maybe. But I just don’t think you can win a title with Drew Gooden starting in your frontcourt..unless he is starting alongside Dwight Howard! Rose and Deng from a few years ago are the only people I can see starting on a championship team. Why not get rid of everyone else ala NY/NJ and just shoot for 2010. Rose and Amare sounds like a good start to me. Maybe even get T Mac on the cheap! Hughes is already coming off the books, hinrich and Nocioni have tradeable contracts. Gordon is gonna walk. Its no way you can extend the Tyrus Thomas that I’ve been watching but maybe resign Aaron Gray as a backup…maybe I’m dreaming but last night they had mediocre K Mart looking like he was back in conference USA and Friday Biendrins looked like Yao. this just shouldn’t happen period.

  • weezy f

    kanyes cd is killin em

  • Bruce

Roye needs to fix his teeth. Fool is beginning to look like a modern-day Beetlejuice. That mantle belongs to Anthony Johnson.

  • tim

Pistons will gel when Dyess returns…GuaranSHEED….see what i did there haha!

  • Chaos

man, whats up with beno udrih…sorry to say but i really dont see how sacramento anointed him as their starting pg. i dont see much from his game to warrant anything….Denver will be a real surprise. they are playing especially well without melo shooting a high percentage but his rebounding and assist numbers are up. he gets on the ball defensively and you can see him really dominating. k-mart need to be vintage k-mart again and liteally scared the dog shit outta guys on the court. minnesota fans will constantly get pissed off because the wolves have a game where all their talents seem to shine….then lose 10 straight games. their is no vocal de facto leader on the team.

  • control

I think that picture was taken when Foye had a guest appearance on “Little People, Big World”.

My Raps gotta get their shit straight before Chris Bosh decides to jump the border. I usually like Anthony Parker, but yesterday the guy was straight gunning. He was like 0-5 at one point or something, had no flow and was still jacking. He must have shook hands with Stephan Jackson at the Golden State game…shit fucked him up.

  • gooooai!!!

RIP been garbage since the trade, he to step it up. AI had a bad game but it happens I would not take as sign he is on downfall, he was top 5 scoring last year.
