Dwight Howard Might Back Out of the Dunk Contest
Please Dwight!Dwight Howard is considering early retirement from the dunk contest. Though he set the basketball world on fire last year with his performance at All-Star Weekend, he’s not sure that he’ll come back to defend his title now.
“There’s a good saying, ‘Quit while you’re ahead,’ ” Howard said. “I thought I did a great job at the dunk contest last year. I think everybody liked it. I don’t want to mess that up.”
“I could top what I did last year in the dunk contest; I do have a lot of ideas. I’m still hoping to do it but Superman and that whole weekend . . . It opened up so many doors in my life, and it showed my personality for people who didn’t know Dwight Howard.”
At least Dwight’s being honest - he’s afraid that he’ll disappoint. As opposed to everyone else who chooses not to participate because they could “get injured” doing something that they do every single day of the year and never get hurt doing, Dwight is admitting that he’s having second thoughts because he’s nervous. He is human.

u’re right he’s Vince Carter nervous, cuz the show he put on last year will be damn near impossible to top. after all he did come back after being out of the contest in 1st round the year before and weren’t talking about i don’t wanna mess that up. they should increase the prize money by about 20 times in this thing to “loosen Dwight up”

Hes got a good point. After the show he put on last year everyone will be expecting somthing outrageous, and the reason it was so great last time was that it was completely unexpected, the cape and everything. I doubt he can top that. Besides i cant wait to see some young dudes get creative this year, because they know how high the bar has been set. Pretty sure D Rose wont go in, what about Joe Alexander? Somebody get Darius Washington a 10-day that kid has disgusting bounce.

Howard?!?! what is he thinking… i think he would still win no matter who’s in the dunk contest, a big man who jumps that high and has that kind of swag has an advantage over all the competitors

well, i think he should come back… he’s my favorite player and I collect him LOL…
but as a fan, i think he should not be playing, he has all-star game to play and he’s been an NBA’s new iron man for so long.. and his knee that he got injured when he was in high school is now giving some problems.. so, my personal wishes are to see him back, i think he should take a break, so magic can depend on him for the second half of the season and play-offs, you may probably see he was a bit off the mark after the all-star weekend because of winning the content and everything.
i am happy he is nervous, coz i am big magic fan and i dont want him to get extra stress because of this small contest, he showed the world he could do it..
it’s always gonna be like this. iggy was robbed by nate.. previous year, dwight was robbed.. even if he did something really fun this year, he may probably..
coz i wanna see moon, gay and many rookies to enter the contest next FEB

Lets be real people, the NBA dunk contest is extremely watered down! It’s garbage actually when i think about it! I’ve seen better streetball dunk contest, and it just was for the respect of being the best dunker in the streets. It wasn’t the basketball American idol! That’s how i felt watching last years contest! I will also go on the record and say that the superman dunk was SOOOO WHACK!!!!! Didn’t realize we counted glorified lay-ups as dunks!?! Whatever happen to the real dunkers in the L, guess they got old or something!!! These young guys arent creative enough for me. Just some thoughts I wanted to share!!
