Dwyane Wade’s Problem

In six years, we’ve seen two different dominant versions of Dwyane Wade. Here’s what I mean: In the ‘06 Finals, we saw a guy who did everything on his own from the perimeter, cooking Devin Harris, Marquis Daniels and Jason Terry off the bounce on nearly every possession.

Then again this summer, Wade showed up in Beijing like a man possessed – except this time he was killing the international competition in a different way. Instead of catching the ball and sizing up his man on the wing every time, he feasted with quick-hit buckets in transition, off of swing passes, and when the defense tried to close out on him. Essentially, D-Wade was exploiting international defenses as Team USA’s designated finisher.

While that was a crucial part to winning gold, his shift away from starting possessions on the perimeter with the ball in his hands over the summer has since contributed to an uneasiness back in the NBA. Wade is visibly out of sync right now, as he struggles to get the looks that he was getting in Beijing.

“I’m having a hard time with that right now, mentally,” he said. “Right now, I’m kind of out of rhythm. A lot of shots I shoot right now are forced, because different things are going on offensively. A lot of it is not to my strengths right now.”

The only Miami game I have seen this year was Kings at Heat. Not only did Wade look good but so did the rest of his team … wait…Every team the Kings play looks good!

If your a Heat fan you KNOW that the Heat stink the first 2 weeks of every season. Our preseason usually bleeds into the regular season due to new players, still drunk from winning the finals, or…..well mostly new guys on the team.
