Free Hot Dogs!

LeBron James
Whether you like it or not, you’re getting another LeBron Red update from Manhattan today. They’re turning the outside of Madison Square Garden into a LeBron celebration, complete with free hot dogs, courtesy of LeBron.

If you’re in the area, there will be LeBron hot dog stands like the one seen here located on all four corners outside of Madison Square Garden on 7th and 8th Avenues, from now until 11 p.m. giving away free dogs…

Are the knicks and nike coming together to do this shytt? if so im proud of us for finally doing something slimy that will be worth the bad press and fines

  2. Bondzai says:

On a related note, they had $1 hot dogs at the Magic game last night. I tore up 5 of those bad boys.

  3. Dime Magazine says:

    @ justice -

    I doubt it.

  4. ed says:

let the hating begin. this hype is gonna be fun to watch.

  5. JCARR says:

Courtesy of lebron doest that mean his paying for them. Is Nike responsible for LBJ to NY hype? I am respectfuly saying they are overdoing it. Lebron will soon get a free lap dance from all new yorkers as well! Who want to WITNESS that? Not me.

  6. QueSt??? says:

damnnnnnnn its a nice time to be in new york, if this doesnt say that lebron is coming to newyork on 2010 i dnt know what is

  7. David Brandon says:

i’m just trying to figure out how its still ‘08, he’s not available until 2010 and they’re acting like he just signed.

  8. justice says:

this will go down in history as the greatest sales pitch ever, whether we get him or not…im a knicks fan and ill be rooting for the cavs tonight,im sure i won’t be the only one

  9. Max says:

I am totally loving the hype. Gets people buzzing and all worked up, for a crappy team no less that can’t even think about being good for another two years.

  10. Michorizo says:

From now until 11:00 pm I am offering free chorizo

  11. P_Dizzle says:

Wow this shit’s got to stop! 28 other NBA cities could give a shit right now but this is what we got to hear about for another year and a half. Please!

I guess I am going to go hide in a cave ’til then.

To have a rockin’ team when Lebron comes (if he comes) is to get a bunch of cats to take peanuts home instead of a paycheck. Otherwise your just another version of the Cavs. One superstar and a bunch of shit.

Wow, dime if y’all keep this up then I think I am done being a Dime fan. Holy hell please stop!

  12. control says:

Is this the first time LeBron has been to NYC?

I seriously haven’t seen this much coverage of a guy going to NYC since Borat was there…

  13. Sweet English says:

Well then justice, you clearly ain’t no Knicks fan.

No Knicks fan would be supporting the team they were playing against just because that team has a great player on it that MIGHT sign for you in 2 years.

You ain’t a Knicks fan. You just like the Knicks. Thats different.

  14. Mikey says:

    Speaking of hot dogs…

Is there a quintessential food that you have to eat when you go to a basketball game?

I go to a lot of baseball games, and everyone knows that hot dogs, peanuts, and beer are pretty much necessary to get. In your opinion, is there any similar food to eat at basketball games?

I’ve always considered nachos to be basketball arena food. What do you think?

  15. rlf says:

the fans in ohio must be happy about this. their home town boy is giving hot dogs to new yorkers just to put more hype into his ‘lebron to new york’ bs.

this guy and nike just don’t stop.

the headlines tomorrow “lebron hears mvp chants in MSG”

and some say lebron doesn’t like to be a drama queen. please

  16. Sweet English says:

@ P_dizzle and For everyone hating on Dime for these threads, cool yourselves bad boys. Whether you like it or not, this is a big deal right now. Have you not just read the Bron Red posts? They bring out a NY shoe, then NY wakes up to 23 of there playgrounds covered in the number 23 written in free balls, then they give away food. In the greatest city in your country. Where Dime HQ is posted. And you expect Dime not to cover it?

psssshhhh go read NBA.com for your info if you want to hear about minor GM agreements and back office arguments. If you wanna hear about basketball at street level, about what basketball fans are actually wanting to listen too, then shutup and enjoy the posts.

I live in the UK, and all this Bron Red stuff has got me ultra hyped about this game tonight. An’ i gotta stay up to three in the mornin to watch that ish.

  17. justice says:

Nah im a knicks fan, but im also realistic so i have a backup team, and im really hoping we can lose the next 70 games or so so we can have a shot at a high lottery pick and we don’t phucked it up like we have been doing since ewing..it’s pretty bad man but i do believe every knick fan has cheered against them at least 3 times in the past 3 years..i mean wtf im i suppose to do during the playoffs?

Im looking out not just for the knicks but the economy lebron to the knicks recession over

  18. Mamba says:

    LeBron/New York 2010 - Yes we can!!!!

The hype on this thing is unreal,

Reminds me of how Deion used to promote himself using the help of Nike and countless others,

  19. Sweet English says:

    @ P_Dizzle

    NBA.COM - IN THE NEWS

Heat’s Wright suffers delay in comeback plans

Magic lose backup Bogans for up to six weeks

Harlem Globetrotters, NBA team up in international effort

Now, would you rather Dime posted stuff like?

Shall we talk about Miami’s bench players being a little later to return than first thought? That WOULD be exciting i know, but as they say, theres not enough hours in the day P. OOOOHHH! LOOK! the NBA and Harlem Globetrotters made an ‘international effort’. Dime clearly missed out on that shocker, becasue that would have made such an INTERESTING post for us all to discuss!

Or shall we talk about a 23 Year old Black guy from Ohio TAKING OVER one of the biggest cities in the world simply through the medium of sport.

    (Patronising? Me?)

  20. Dime Magazine says:

Glad some people are talking some sense here. Right now, today, this is the biggest thing in the basketball world. By far. It’s our duty to bring the news to the hoop universe, whether the haters like it or not.

And btw, we’re hearing there’s about to be some more crazy stuff going down in front of MSG that’s much bigger than free food. Stay tuned…

  21. Sweet English says:

    Bigger than free food??

    BIGGER THAN FREE FOOD???????

    Free alcohol?

and Pat you never told us if you grabbed one of those balls you saw? They looked like regular nike balls but painted.

  22. Dime Magazine says:

    English:

It’s probably somewhere between free food and free alcohol.

  23. Big Sia says:

    Its 4

  24. Big Sia says:

Its 4 pm on Free Hotdog Day.

Do you know where Eddy Curry is?

  25. GEE...I am Dragonfly Jones says:

Dime how many of them dogs have yall put down? LOL

What would be between free food and alcohol???

LeBron should have every stripper in New York get a temp. tat of 23 on they butts!

I can’t imagine something not already being a done deal with this much effort into it.

Miami didn’t even pull out all these stops for Shaq, although his was more sudden. j/k

23 on strippers and have them give 1 free lap dance in honor of King James.

  26. French says:

Can this be viewed as a form of tampering on Nike’s part by the league. If the Knicks were behind this they would definitely be fined…so why is it ok for the endorsement company (that is tied to the league by paying Lebron) to do something like this?

Can’t imagine anyone in the Cleveland organization/ownership would be happy with this - do they have any ground to stand on for Nike to be reprimanded?

  27. GEE...I am Dragonfly Jones says:

Just another added reason to why NY is the mecca for basketball culture.

Can you imagine kids thinking back on this day.

“Dawg you remember that day when 23 was all over the city in basketballs and they was giving out free hotdogs?”

I am sure some young minds will be all about LeBron after this.

    Only in NY

  28. P_Dizzle says:

I could give a flying f*** about Lebron playing the Knicks. I don’t live back east and it doesn’t effect my team. But hell you have plenty of other stuff going on in the NBA but because it’s in NYC all the other stuff gets swept under the rug.

What about Larry “highest paid backup player of all-time” Hughes hitting the shot at the buzzer, what about the Rockets just finishing a 3 game sweep on the road, what about the Billups/Iverson trade that has benefited the Nuggets and are sitting at 9-5 and are finally relevant, what about the Wiz tanking the season to get a high lotto pick, what about Dallas being under .500?

There is so much more going on, but hell no! A big F$$$ YOU to the 28 other NBA teams! We have to hear the same ‘ish about Lebron in NY. Every other NBA media outlet is talking about the same thing. Why can’t Dime be original and not follow what every NBA media outlet is talking about. Hell it’s not like they are going to miss out on any of this, we got a year and a half to go.

  29. rodnets says:

EVERYONE GO AND EAT LEBRON’S HOT DOGS, CLASSY

  30. fallinup says:

The only thing that this has to do with basketball is that there’s a Knicks game today.

  31. weng santos says:

Why just hotdogs? What about nachos?

I’m kinda disappointed. Hey, it’s New York, so next year I expect free pizza too!

And Manhattans from a bartender on the street! ID’s required of course =)
