Huge Fantasy Update - Manu Ginobili to Play Tonight

Manu GinobiliManu is back.

If you drafted Manu Ginobili you deserve a huge congratulations. With 70 games left in the season, Manu will suit up for the Spurs tonight. 70 games! That’s a big win for Manu owners. If you have the option, sit him one more week.

    Welcome back.

  2. control says:

    The Spurs were doing just fine without him. I think he’s rushing back ahead of schedule because he seen Matt Boner taking his minutes and needed to fend him off before he was out of a job.

    I ain’t the type of guy who wishes an injury on people, but the NBA is a better place without manu’s hijinks and shenanigans.

  3. Flip says:

    Riiiiiiiiiiight control….. as if Manu was loosing his job anytime soon. You’re just mad cause he aint on your team!

    He’d fit in with the Raptors, they need a solid slasher who can take a back seat to the real stars. I wouldn’t want him on the Raptors though. Like I’ve always said, the guy’s skill set is aight, but his play style is just retarded.

    Fuck his flopping ass.

  5. fallinup says:

    Yeah!!! Fuck the Olympic Gold. Olympic Bronze. World championship. Italian League Championship. FIBA MVP. Italian League MVP. Olympic MVP. 3 NBA Championships. Sixth Man Award. All Star.

    pfft…He’s a flopper! Fuck you, Manu!

  6. Marc Stein says:

    Manu’s world class, he’s won on every level. For awhile, Manu slipped under the radar as one of basketball’s greatest winners. I’m sure he would do wonders for the Raptors or any team for that matter.

    His track record speaks for itself:

    * Italian League Championship: 2001
    * Italian Cup Champion: 2001, 2002
    * Euroleague: 2001
    * Americas Championship: 2001
    * NBA Championship: 2003, 2005, 2007
    * Summer Olympic Games gold medal: 2004

    *All he’s missing is an NCAA chip!

  7. that's whats up says:

    I bet he goes back to college and gets that chip too….

  8. fallinup says:

    Hey Poser,

    Marc Stein doesn’t have enough street cred to be commenting on Dime. Go back to ESPN. Bill Simmons needs a foot massage.

    Cal sucks.

    You read my post? The guy has a decent skill set, there’s no question about that. His play style is horrible though, I think only Spurs fans and people from Peru actually enjoy watching the guy play.

    He’s on a massive decline anyways. He’s a career 14/4/4 player who is turning into an old man quick. The guy doesn’t have a bald spot because his hair (like defenders) can’t cover him…

    His international resume is great. So is Pau Gasol’s. His NBA resume is great…but so is anyone who has played with Tim Duncan their entire career.

  10. Shakers says:

    So pissed that I traded him…

  11. dmitry of jersey says:

    wow control…

    1. derek fisher has a “decent skill set” .. marvin williams has a “decent skill set” … ginobili is one of the most multi-faceted and clutch offensive players in the world, not just a dude with a decent skill set.

    2. he is from argentina, not peru.

    3. he averaged nearly 20-5-5 last year, a career year when he took over a lot of the scoring bc duncan was chilling out most the season, so not much of a decline quite yet.

    4. don’t compare ginobili to pau gasol. gason is an above average international player with a pretty good resume.. ginobili’s international achievements ALONE would probably get him to the basketball hall of fame.

    i’m not saying the dude doesn’t flop, but you’re a fool if you don’t give him credit as one of the premier basketball players in the world.

  12. Jah says:

    If you’re a baller, you must respect Ginobili. ‘Nuff said.

  13. fallinup says:

    You’ll never win Executive of the Year with that attitude, control.

  14. justice says:

    Ginobli is a very good player, not great but good, i still hate him, hell i hated karl malone..but the guy is good, i just prefer if he his team and his coach lose every game…

  15. rell says:

    I drafted him low in my league and was waiting for him to come back. I am in 1st place in my league without Ginobli playing so I should be able to expand my lead now that he is back. Once Tony Parker come back my fantasy league might as well crown me the champion of the league.

    1. Wow, manu must have small nuts with you able to fit your entire body into his underwear like that.

    2. I never said he was from Peru, I said people from Peru like watching him play…they are twisted like that, and have the biggest ratio of sadomasochists in the world, next to Detroit Lion fans.

    3. He had one great year, so did Bobby Simmons.

    4. Doubtfully, legit or not, I’m not thinking international players get a huge piece of respect from HoF voters.

    fallinup

    Good thing I’m not a management position in basketball. I’d be hating on doods for some wacked out reason, which isn’t in the team’s best interest.

  17. vinny says:

    @control
    its nice to see you criticize someone who isnt from new york.

  18. pishenis says:

    Hey guys

    some guys of an brazilian blog about NBA just did a video about Manu Ginobili and all his flops, take a look

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_IjONM1_a4

  19. vinny says:

    @ian- ok take a deep breath before u respond.

  20. control says:

    pishenis

    Good video.

    vinny

    I am an equal opportunity hater. If something needs some hating, I got it covered, regardless of who, what or where it is.

  21. sans says:

    DOC, help me out! Thank god Manu can get off the bench, my team has one ankle collectively, all banged up, so, who do I start, KMART2, Larry Hughes, or Manu? I actually have to start two of them due to other injuries? Help me out.

  22. dmitry of jersey says:

    let’s keep this going

    1. keep your thoughts about manu’s balls or any other dude’s balls to yourself. if you don’t have a good argument let’s not revert to some homoerotic b.s.

    2. whatever

    3. having trouble understanding your ABC’s? the point wasn’t about manu having one great year, it was about him being in decline. considering manu’s great year came LAST YEAR, it means he is not in decline as you originally said.

    4. typical american “no one else but america matters” attidue. the HoF is for contributions to basketball, not contributions to the NBA. you ever heard of Pedro Ferrandiz? (http://hoophall.com/halloffamers/bhof-pedro-ferrandiz.html) me neither, but the HoF voters inducted him alongside Phil Jackson. his career, beginning to end, was international.

    any questions?

    dmitry

  23. sans says:

    I benched Azuibike because of the Crawford trade, was that a good move?

  24. control says:

    dmitry

    No questions but plenty of comments:

    1. You talk about “good argument” after saying “ginobili is one of the most multi-faceted and clutch offensive players in the world”? You don’t see that comment as slightly jock riding? If you are talking top in the world as being in the top 100 as far as basketball goes, I guess you do have a point. If you are talking top in the world as top .000001% compared to the other 7-8 billion people in the world, I guess I can concede your point. If you are talking top 5 NBA…you have issues.

    2. Joke which was apparently missed by you, I guess talking about manu is some very serious business.

    3. He is in decline. He is getting older. The human body ain’t fine wine, it don’t get better with time. He’s coming on like 33-34, he’s chronically injured and doesn’t really play through pain. He MIGHT match 20ppg again, but only because the Spurs right now are so horrible right now, SOMEONE has to shoot the ball.

    4. I’m not even american. Don’t hate on me because that’s the way it is. There are a few international players in the HoF, no denying that, but if you go through the NBA your shots at making it are 100 times higher. Do you disagree?

  25. dmitry of jersey says:

    at least this time what you’re saying is sensible.

    1. combining international + NBA games, is there anyone who has made more clutch shots than ginobili? i dont think he’s the most clutch player in the league (I’d give that to lebron or wade). so maybe not top-5, but definitely top-20.

    2. indeed, that’s how we do on internet boards, serious shit only.

    3. truth is we won’t really know if he’s in decline til the ‘08 playoffs.

    4. maybe? being in the NBA gives you more visibility for sure, but had ginobili stayed in europe his whole career and kept winning FIBA ‘chips, MPV’s, and olympic medals, he would be first ballot HoF regardless. he’s up there with sabonis in terms of global impact on basketball.

    …man i’m not even that huge ginobili fan.. just trying to right a couple of your wrongs from the first 2 posts. can’t really say i disagree with much in your last one.

    1. I don’t know because the international flavor throws a twist in there. The guy has brought it when he needed to though.

    2. Agreed!

    3. I agree with this as well. I believe I will be proven correct, but you are right that it’s too soon to judge.

    4. Not sure if he would be first ballot if he never came to NBA. That american attitude you brought up has a huge amount of sway. If that Sarunas Jasikevicius had his horrible stint in the NBA, would anyone be thinking he’s a HoF player? I know Sarunas doesn’t have the same international resume, but it ain’t THAT far off…

    At least we can agree to compromise, that is what good internet blog trolling is about!

  27. rodnets says:

    Manu is a great player, you can hate his style but the man has hoops all the way, and is a true winner, a bit whiner but a winner.

    That brazilian envious dude should make a video of his own flopper anderson flopperao.

    peace

  28. solomon says:

    serious talk… my money’s with dmitri on this one…

  29. rangerjohn says:

    welcome back MANU thats that!
