Jason Kidd-For-Stephon Marbury Trade Rumors

Jason KiddJ-Kidd at MSG?

Even though Jason Kidd‘s been at the epicenter of Rick Carlisle‘s offense thus far this season, his name has been mentioned in a number of prospective deals around the League. We’re not sure what the Mavs would like like in this system right now if they didn’t have Kidd pushing the ball up the floor at EVERY opportunity, but supposedly Mark Cuban is willing to entertain offers for their 35-year old PG.

According to a Mavericks source, the Blazers have not inquired about Kidd’s availability; the Knicks New York Knicks certainly did, though, offering Star Burst.

If anyone needed a translation, that’s Peter Vescey‘s cute way of saying that the Knicks offered Stephon Marbury for Kidd. Both guys make an absurd amount of money – in the $21 million range. But Kidd clearly has more value than Steph.

What do you think of this deal?

  1. TCL says:

This could work for both teams. The Knicks get the quarterback they desperately need and Cuban can fix his mistake of trading for Kidd by getting rid of Steph this summer.

  2. blah says:

if they do this they’re basically giving up on this season already.

  3. that's whats up says:

this actually makes the most sense.
No one on the Mavericks has any balls, so why not add crazy-ass Steph?
J-Kidd would stabilize the Knicks like no one could

  4. control says:

This would be the stupidest trade in history.

Marbury is washed up, he’s done, stick a fork in the motherfucker. The guy is a cancer, he could ruin any team, even the Spurs. Keep him in NY, a piece of shit city for a piece of shit person.

If Dallas is considering this, and actually does that, I hope they go back to being an 8 win team.

  5. doc says:

    Bullshit for Dallas

  6. dapro says:

    @control

Damn bruh, tell us how you really feel

I do agree though, Mavs would be dumb for this trade

If anything trade J kidd for some younger pieces in Portland but trading for Steph is an automatic season ender

  7. TCL says:

That’s exactly it, Dallas isn’t doing this trade to make themselves better, they are doing this because they realize they have no shot of winning a title with their current team and want to clear cap room.

Who knows, maybe Steph has a little bit of game left.

  8. derrick says:

this would be like the 2nd or 3rd time these two get traded for each other, wouldn’t it?

  9. justice says:

    J Kidd=98 BMW 745 with 150,000 miles

Stephon Marbury=2004 Nissan Maxima 75,000 miles

steph is my boy but does cuban remember the first time someone traded steph for kidd?

  10. BxBaller says:

Fuck You Control. Watch that slick talk about NYC.

  11. Mooks says:

I think Peter Vescey’s on crack, that’s what i think.

  12. Carmelo Anthony says:

Yeah, oddly enough, I understand this rumor. It would make sense to take Steph off D’Antoni’s hands and then kick him out of town next year.

BUT Steph deserves to sit on the bench for all eternity for all his foolishness last year.

  13. Notorious says:

Clear cap room? They both are in their final year of their contracts, so Dallas clears cap regardless.

Worst. Trade. Ever. Of course it isn’t like Dallas even entertained the crazy idea of adding Crybury the Cancer man. Just that NY tossed it out there, to which I bet Cuban is still laughing as Donnie hung up.

Crybury is a crazy, washed up, ballhogging, delusional waste of talent. Unable to perform within a team concept, and soon to be out of the NBA.

  14. control says:

    BxBaller

Nothing slick about my talk, I was pretty straight up when I said NY is a piece of shit.

  15. A$$Cube aka Donnie Walsh says:

Throw in David Lee, (the expiring of) Malik Rose, a pick and Erick Dampier, and you got yourself a deal.

Mavs would clear up a lot of cap space this summer, they would get a first like the one they sent the Nets last year, and the best rebounding/hustling guy they ever had since, well, maybe Popeye Jones, in Lee.

Knicks would get their very own maestro-type point guard, and a true center that can defend, rebound, er, take space in the paint, then come off the books in 2K10.

  16. TCL says:

I may be mistaken, Kidd is done this year or next year?

  17. justice says:

Control do u fully understand the impact that New York has on the rest of the world? In every aspect..what would happen if it were to shut down for one day do you know?

It’s the most important and competitive city in the world my friend, only the strong survive

  18. control says:

    justice

I wouldn’t say there is a “most important city in the world” at all. It all depends on who you are and what you do. Wall Street is there, that is about it.

  19. Scott says:

I believe Control said that NYC was a shit city, not that it wasn’t important. lol

  20. The Gov says:

What the heck are the Knicks doing? They just need to do something. Now. Marbury is a distraction, and while he sits on the sidelines, the Knicks will continue to lose and eventually they will have to play him, waive him or trade him. I would be thoroughly annoyed if I was a Knicks fan.

  21. that's whats up says:

50 bucks says Control lives in Kew Gardens

  22. justice says:

It does depend on what u do and if your in that 2 percentile of people that grow there own foods, make their own clothes etc, then your excluded but being that you have internet access i assume your not..

As a matter of fact the site your on right now is run through New York…What about the United Nations u know that little thing where all the people from different countries meet and agree not to kill each other.,how about ellis island where most of the people here’s ancestors had to come through so we could get online and talk shytt…

  23. Scott says:

I don’t get why they just didn’t play him. Everything had calmed down, the media had become quiet because he was playing in the preseason and practicing like everything was cool, then the season opener comes and D’Antoni bench’s him.

If D’Antoni lets him play, we never hear a word of this, it doesn’t become ‘news’ and everyone is all of a sudden interested in Marbury on the court, rather than Marbury off of it.

Donnie and D’Antoni fucked themselves with Marbury. He’s in the best shape of his life, they wouldn’t trade him in the summer or just ‘move’ him for anything, and now they have a constant news story.

Considering there have been these types of situations in the past with ‘Star’ players, you’d think that these guys would realize that they are only hurting Marbury’s trade value.

I feel for the Knicks fans, for a minute there they all thought that the main news story for their franchise this year would be how guys like Nate and Crawford fit into D’Antoni’s system, and how it works in the East. But instead they have to hear about Marbury every damn day. I guess some things never change.

  24. control says:

    justice

None of what you have said changes anything. NY is a piece of shit.

    that’s whats up

I am living in Detroit right now (not much better than NY). At least the people here will just shoot me, instead of acting like they are better than me just because they live in “the center of the universe”. I have been to NY plenty for business, it’s interesting sometimes, but the mindset of the people there is an exaggeration of everything that is wrong with this country.

  25. that's whats up says:

    peace control.
After 7 years I left NYC two years ago, but I don’t miss it.
There’s a lot of good, but also a lot of bad.
I hope in your next visits you only see the good, because it’s there.

  26. Reed Ewing Frazier says:

Sensitive INTERNET THUGS you all need hugs no trade is happening Marbury is staying put Pete V is a dumbass for reporting this falsehood.

KNICKS UP!! all the rest down!!!!

  27. Jamaal says:

control must have gotten the SHIT kicked out of him when he was in NY!!!

  28. obmb says:

The only way this happens is if NY really wants to pull attention away from the Nets. With Kidd at the helm of the Nets, they owned the Knicks. More importantly, they pulled fans away from the Knicks. The Knicks have to compete with the prospect of the Nets’ move to Brooklyn and are desperate to not be on the losing end of the Lebron stakes. Already there is talk about the Nets, not the Knicks, being in a better position down the road than the Knicks.

As for the Mavs, why would they take Steph. Every team he left in his wake was left in disarray. The only reason they would want to do this would be to get a salary dump.

  29. smokez4Dayz says:

I love when nY haters try to sound objective. You live in your small little nothing town, and you hate on my big city. whats a matter? brooklyn more important than your little city? Marbury shouldn’t be under all this sweat factor. Let the man play. the man, he’s not a boy. he’s not a child. Sometimes you poster get that confused, he’s not D.Rose, he’s 31.
