J.J. Redick’s First NBA Start

I’m not gonna lie, I never thought this day would come. Perhaps J.J. Redick got the unexpected starting nod last night in honor of yesterday’s 23 hours of college basketball coverage.

Would you start Redick on your squad?

  1. Kermit the Washington says:

Yes. If my squad was the Duke BlueDevils! Heyoooo!!!

  2. that's whats up says:

some dude is interviewing Lindsay Lohan’s girlfriend.

Dime, is this the wrong video?

  3. Dime Magazine says:

I don’t know if I’d start him on the Sixers, but considering they don’t have anyone on their roster that can knock down a jumper, Id’ definitely take him on my team.

  4. Dime Magazine says:

that’s whats up – that’s just wrong. funny, but wrong.

  5. boredatwork says:

    He could start in OKC.

Am I the only one that finds that forearm shove hilarious on that video (right around the 17 sec mark)? I think the ref’s reaction in the background adds to the comedy.

  6. JCARR says:

Good to see an NCAA legend (practically) get some playing time. He has a sweet stroke. Does Better Basketball DVD really work? (seems whack)I would never buy that.

I would start him if all my other four starters are better than JJ. Just like the case the of Magic.

  7. Tristan says:

I would start JJ Redick if…

    1) Winning were not THAT important
    2) I had a no-trick pony riding pine and making lottery pick money
    3) Ryan Bowen was my last option
    4) I decided the season was worth tanking
    5) I didn’t have enough seats on the bench to satisfy his ass.

Why the f-ck would anyone want to start JJ Redick?

  8. K Dizzle says:

JJ needs to send Pietrus a bouquet cuz that’s the only reason he playin.
As it is, he don’t make my Lakers cuz he ain’t gettin it in front of Walton or Vujacic, who can shoot and also plays defense.

Good performance tho. Kinda embarrassin for Mitchell to not attack him on defense tho.

  9. Tyrone says:

Ain’t no doubt that JJ is mad overrated y’all – cat can get mad buckets forsho, but he ain’t able to play no defense. Cat’s good for nuttin’ more than 10 minutes per game ya’ll.

    True thugs never lie.
    Tyrone

  10. Drink the Haterade (KB24 Chip 09) says:

he would be sick on the Spurs… TD kickin it out to him for the three. The Spurs could start TP, JJ, Manu, KT and TD.

  11. Stickashock says:

JJ Redick belongs in the starting lineup as much as Tyrone is a thug.

  12. Amar says:

I’m so happy that Orlando picked JJ instead of letting him slide down to utah at #14, where the Jazz picked Ronnie Brewer. JJ’s ‘measurements’ in the pre-draft combine were as funny as a sad clown painting. He has very short arms for his height. He wouldn’t be useful on defense, and could go about 5 games without deflecting the ball once. That’s not going to get him playing time for Jerry Sloan.

On the other hand, a guy with a broken shot (but he’s improving) is starting on the Jazz at ‘shooting’ guard because he has a 6’11 wingspan for a 2, and plays some good defense. (check out his steals per game — he had 7 vs. the Knicks last week)

JJ couldn’t start for the Jazz. He’s a shorter and lighter version of Morris Almond — and Almond gets no burn already.

  13. Tyrone says:

I would take him on my man squad anytime.

  14. bballinca says:

I’d have to see how the guy performs in practice comapred to the other guys and make my decision based on that. Can he be any worse than Kapono?

  15. weezy f says:

    *crickets*

  16. dagwaller says:

Maybe I’m one of the last Wizards fans out there, and coincidentally, I’m one of the only guys out there that would start JJ over my own starting 2 (DeShawn). Then again, in MDCP country, it probably wouldn’t fly.

  17. XZoom says:

We had Brian Sclabrine and JJ Reddick starting in the same day. Bet that never happens ever again in our lifetime

  18. Sho-Nuff says:

Hopefully he doesn’t cry like on Senior night at Duke when “THEY BLEW IT!!”

    True Dookies never start.

    -Nuff

  19. karizmatic says:

If I had a front line of say LBJ Tim Duncan and Dwight Howard I might start him, he could just shoot open three’s all day.

  20. Mamba says:

    He could use more PT,

I dont really see him ever as a starter though,

Although he has gotten used to working with a double team thanks to Travis Diener’s two hot sisters (Sorry Trav haha)

  21. SteveNash says:

    my starting five:
    Bobby Hurley
    Jay Williams
    Terre Dehere
    Christian Laetner
Eric Montross (a lil sprinkle of UNC)

  22. weng santos says:

    JJ Redick is still cold-blooded.

Stan Van Gundy is still a bum coach.

Everybody and their Duke-hatin’ brother knows JJ can shoot.

So let him! Otherwise, why’d you draft him?

  23. solomon says:

    all haters LMAO!!!

JJ could start for GSW – bang, bang, bang… or new york – bang, bang, bang

what defense? just let the ball fly and hope you make more than the opposing team does…

though, jj looks like he’s gonna cry in that interview…

    we’re out like jj’s D…
