Knicks Make Offer for Shawn Marion
Newsday is reporting today that the New York Knicks have a “standing offer” with the Miami Heat that reportedly would have Stephon Marbury being packaged in a deal for Shawn Marion.
Obviously, Miami hasn’t bit on the offer and we’re pretty sure they’re playing the field to see what they can get for Marion before giving in to whatever package the Knicks have put on the table.

as a heat fan, i really think getting a serviceable big guy for marion would be much better. im tired of mark blount and joel “sasquatch” anthony

@ jl90 -
aren’t you tempted to see what that team can do with a better point guard in place? True, Steph isn’t a top-flight player anymore, but you have to think he’s an upgrade over Chalmers/Quinn/Banks, right? What could Wade do with a full-time PG?

Ansonious says:
I’m predicting Marion goes to the clips for Camby and somebody else maybe some draft picks or cash. I’m not putting money on it but imagine how good the heat would be(provided Camby stays healthy) with Haslem going back to the pf, b-easy at the sf, If I was Miami I’d be pushing that envelope if it was possible

Please God, no…don’t do it!
We’re growing, but dangerous. A more polished big man would be great (and NO, I’m not talking about E-City) and a deeper bench and BOOM — we’re in the title hunt. Beasley and Chalmers are “studs-in-the-making” and Marion is expendable. Find something better than Stephon Marbury in the name of a BIG MAN.
Let Steph head out to San Antonio…

jl90 says:
yeah that is tempting no lie. steph could be a true scoring option for wade and would solve a lineup problem. I just feel like there are too many other factors and baggage with starbury. and that trio of point guards (minus Marcus banks who has apparently disappeared) has somewhat impressed me, quinn with his three point shooting and chalmers isnt turning out too bad. that said, i wouldnt totally be unhappy with Starbury but we definitely need a center more

Here is a question.
With the way the Knicks are clearing cap space, would it be possible for them to get Lebron AND Dwade/Bosh/Melo?

the heat do NOT need to do this, and dime you don’t need to be scaring me like that. for the rest of the season, the heat should be cool. play out this marion experiment. wait for Zo to come back and Magloire. they’ll both be pretty servicable at clogging the lane and getting boards. the offense will come with wade and beasley. quinn and chalmers will get better. there’s really nothing wrong with quinn as is. he’s just not dynamic. this isn’t a team competing for a ring this year. they’re getting chemistry right now…how ’bout we not fuck that up.
besides, why trade for something they can just wait for and get for (basically) free later?

y the hell would the heat even think about trading marion for marbury or anyone on the knicks for that matter? the only guys the heat would’ve taken from the knicks have been traded for trash so why would they consider giving them a good player for someone who doesn’t fit into their plans? the whole world knows that the knicks wont play marbury so no one is gonna offer anything worth mentioning. if i’m pat riley i’d offer marcus banks for marbury straight up and the knicks would have to pay his salary.

As a Heat fan, something like Marion/Banks for Marbury/Lee I would do it. But Marbury for Marion hell no.

good call on the Marion/Clips deal. It would certainly help both teams more than Marion for Marbury.
Clips – BG, Gordon, Marion, Zbo, Kaman
– Davis, Thornton off the bench
Heat – Chalmers, Wade, B-Easy, Udonis, Camby
Gives a nice starting 5 for both teams!

miamiVIS3 says:
Yeah I could go for that Clips deal too but I want nothing to do with Steph and the Knicks really don’t have anything else to offer in terms of a good big man if I’m Miami I say no deal to this.

Is marbury really the playmaker to make Wade go “WOW that’s what I’ve been missing”
November 22nd, 2008 at 6:26 pm
that's whats up says:
call me optifuckinmistic but I think Steph could really be the best starting 2 guard the Spurs have had in a while. If Pop could keep his dumbass in line it would be hoops nirvana. Spurs have just the team concept that could tolerate a wild card like him

all marbury on the heat would do is take shots away from wade….the heat need a bench..a big man would be great but moreso a bench because they have no other scorers outside of wade and beasly really…TRadin marion for 90 year old camby would be dumb unless thier gettin high pics too.. trade marion/banks for dampier, green and josh howard if anything…at least they’ll get something out of it both ways.

miamiVIS3 says:
Joel Anthony is a better player than Diop he just doesn’t have the size and Diawara has been a pretty solid bench player so I think the best move would be no move at all.

miamiVIS3 says:
My bad I meant to say Anthony was better than Dampier
November 22nd, 2008 at 11:20 pm
Ansonious says:
@ bron42 Yeah and I’m sure Dallas just wants Diop to be the only legit center on the team they could try to move Bass to center off the bench but he plays the pf slot not center he would just be a substitute teacher to the position kind of like Haslem is with the heat right now. They would be better off with Camby PROVIDED HE STAYS HEALTHY KEYWORD HEALTHY.

Ashlov says:
Giving up your two best scorers for a sack of shit based on the premise that there’ll be something to sign in 2010 is completely and utterly desperate and idiotic. The Knicks are going to be left dick in hand waiting for one of the top free agents to fall into their laps.
It’s highly unlikely that any player leaves money on the table to move elsewhere. Keep whacking your puds thinking that you’re going to land 2-3 franchise players in a summer where more than half the league is going to have insane amounts of cap space.
Have fun signing some second tier free agent(s) to an absurd contract because of how stupid the market is going to be.

Ansonious,
between cambys age, durability issues and lack of offense, no way he would really improve the heat. Hes like Zo with less muscle at this point. So why trad marion who brings wayyy more to the table for camby who will pretty much just get a block every now and then when they could get a few pieces for marion.

elk burger says:
well the heat did try to trade for eddy curry this summer
November 23rd, 2008 at 9:22 am
Ashlov says:
That was a rumor, and nothing else. Curry is horribly out of shape, can’t rebound unless you tie a drumstick to the rim, and has an uninsured contract. The Knicks would not only have to take back absolute garbage, they’d have to package him with some valuable assets.
Matter of fact, there’s a damn good chance Curry will still be on the roster in 2010.
November 23rd, 2008 at 10:26 am
Ansonious says:
@ Bron 42 Yeah I see your point there are a ton of ? marks on Camby I think he would be a good fit in Miami, Wade is a stat machine this year putting up numbers in every catagory, the Heat do need another proven scorer but they also need an inside presence, even with Magloire and Zo(that’s if he comes back,) prompted to make it back from their injuries I can easily say that there min would be limited due to the same reasons that you say Camby is a bad fit. I think the odds of the clips moving a guy they just traded for would be slim to shit and we are just arguing over a hypothetical situation that won’t come to fruition. But are the mavs trying to trade Howard? @dime who besides Marbury, Marion, and Curry is being shopped by their team?
