Knicks, Warriors, Clippers 3-Way Trade Rumors

Jamal CrawfordJamal might be calling moving companies

Three-way trade rumor craziness this morning in the NBA with all the talk centered around the Knicks, Clippers and Warriors. The prinicple pieces involved are rumored (right now) to be Jamal Crawford, Zach Randolph, Al Harrington, Tim Thomas, and Cat Mobley.

The latest has Cat, Tim Thomas and Al Harrington going to the Knicks, with Zach, Crawford and someone like Mardy Collins being split up between Golden State and the Clips.

Crawford is arguably the biggest asset on the Knicks. Why on earth would they trade him for?

Especially for the crap that they would get in return.

  2. Bron42 AkA Your Moms Best Friend says:

probably expiring contracts so they can make that lebron/wade/bosh run like everyone else in 2010

Tim Thomas AND Al Harrington to the Knicks? A Scott Layden special if I’ve ever seen one.

  4. gangsta of love says:

Jimmy King has more votes than Juwan Howard!?! How old are the people voting on this? Do you even remember the Fab Five? And thanks for voting Mrs. Jackson.

  5. nick says:

knicks are crazy if they get rid of crawford, however i bet its the only way they can get rid of zach is if crawford is included in the deal.

  6. Charles says:

If the Knicks pull this off that is pure genus! The talent is a non factor as Crawford isn’t going to be apart of the new Knicks ie post 2010. It is the beginning of the Knicks mattering again in the NBA. This free’s up something along the lines of 27 mill on those three additions alone let alone the expiring contracts. This will finally get them out of the luxury tax and they will be able to make a decent run at whom ever (Bosh, Wade, LBJ… the list goes on in that year). I hate the Knicks but it isn’t as fun hating them when they suck!

  7. Brown says:

I don’t want any of those players on the Warriors. There have to be some more spare parts to make the salaries match. Crawford is alright, but he’s not what we need right now at all. We’re loaded at the guard positions.

  8. Scott says:

If Tim Thomas was like 5 years younger, I bet everyone would wonder if D’Antoni can do for him what he did for Boris Diaw.

But then, Tim Thomas isn’t 5 years younger, HA!

Stupid trade for the Knicks talent wise. But its the Knicks, so really who cares. lol.

    im going to kill something

  10. Kobeef says:

Wow – this is bigger than I thought. The announcement delay makes sense now that it has blown-up to a 3-way trade.

The Knicks will lose some talent and probably solidify their position as bottom dwellers by getting rid of Zach and Jamal – are their two best players so far.

THis is an awesome trade for the Clippers. Tim Thomas is Zach but with a worse attitude if you can imagine that.

Crawford is not really what the Warriors need but they get rid of Harringon which is the key for them.

Clippers have to be the winner in this trade if it goes through but as some have said – BRING ON LEBRON!!!!

  11. fallinup says:

I can’t wait for 2010. When Bron, Bosh, and Wade all re-up with their respective teams and the Knicks are left with tons of cash for players like Darko.

  12. freshouttatime says:

maan how serious is the knicks bid for bron? wouldnt jigga jayz be pulling for him to come to the nets? btw i vaguely remember they aren’t moving to brooklyn anymore? is this true? i guess that would leave the bigger market of ny for bron.

with all these shakes and quakes by knicks management i really hope they are laying the foundations for a long term plan to succeed as a ball club.

  13. Spliff 2 My Lou says:

If the Clippers end up getting Zach then they are loaded in the front court. That’s three guys who can post double-doubles in games on any given night. However, I think the Warriors could use Zach more than the Clips. I know he’s a cancer and might not get along with Nellie but they need an offensive inside weapon to pair with Biedrins.

  14. Spliff 2 My Lou says:

I know the Knicks are freeing up cap space for a run at Lebron but would Lebron really consider going to the Knicks if they have no talent around him? Then he would be back in the same situation he was in Cleveland when he had no support. The Knicks very well could be the worst team in the League by the time 2010 rolls around. So Lebron signing with the Knicks in 2010 with it’s current roster (after this trade) is like Lebron signing with the Thunder. It just doesn’t make sense if he wants to win.

  15. that's whats up says:

I heard it is a straight up deal – Knicks get Harrington, Warriors get Malik Rose

  16. George W Kush Sr says:

    This trade is stupid

  17. PALakerFan says:

The Clips would have to be getting Crawford in the deal. They’re not throwing Cuttino in there without getting a guard back.

This is probably a good move for all three teams:

    1. Clips get a true scoring 2 guard to go with Baron and their solid front line, dump the waste of space Thomas.
    2. GS gets what they desparately need, a post scorer.
    3. Knicks get 3 gunners in Al, Cuttino, and Thomas. They get rid of Zach’s big contract and can now bring Fat Eddy in to play that position. They also get a faster squad more capable of playing D-Antoni’s system. Oh yeah, and they’re likely to get a higher draft pick next year!

  18. $filmoney$ says:

This would be an amazing trade for the New Knicks efforts to free up cap space for 2010. Right now Jamal Crawford and Zach Randolph have contracts that run through 2010/11 season with Z-Bo at $17,333,333 + Jamal at $10,080,000 totaling $27,413,333. With this trade they would be free of all that money and the incoming contracts of Al Harrington, Cat and Tim Thomas’s which all expire by 2009/10. Assuming they pick up Wilson Chandler and Danilo’s team options and Jared Jeffries and Eddy Curry pick up their own player options (they got to with the money they owed) they’ll go from having $51,008,637 in player contracts on the books down to $23,595,304 for the 2010 free agent class. That’s big time, with that they can afford not only King James but some other good talent to support him with. David Lee and Nate Robinson would be the only Knicks free agents they would want to keep in 2009-2010.

  19. douglalr says:

fallinup you are sooooo wrong…I was thinking the same thing.
Also why is everyone acting as if Zach’s not the Knicks best player. He’s now proving he can play in any kind of system and if the Knicks keep winning he’ll be the closest thing to an allstar they have. 30 points one night 3 points the next does not an allstar make Mr Crawford.

  20. Lee says:

If I’m the lakers I’m throwing Gasol and odom at the cavs for lebron next year. Then the Lakers get kobe, Leborn and bynam for a serious championship window. I think this would be the best outcome for the cavs too, at least they get something in return !!!

  21. JCARR says:

I get home from a 13 hour day at work and the knicks pull of the stupidest trades. Lord have mercy!
