Let Gerald Green Play

With Josh Howard out today against the Clippers nursing a wrist injury, the Mavs gave the start to preseason phenom Gerald Green. Making the most of the opportunity, G-Money posted 13 points and 12 rebounds in 35 minutes.

A fan of Green since his days in Boston, the 22-years-old has tremendous upside. Friday against the Nuggets, he had 13 points in 15 minutes and then came away with the double-double today. What more does this kid have to prove until he gets some legit NBA clock?

Gerald Green= Best NBA player to never play. I mean seriously dude is better than some Starters and a pure joy to watch.

Singing: ‘Let my people gooooooo….’ while qouting: Give us, Us Free – Amistad

  2. craig990 says:

If he is better.. why doesnt he play?

my team Houston cut him and Dallas only has him on the squad in an attempt to get younger. Hopefully he grows into the talent he is capable of!

  3. Haqq says:

Because NBA is fucking stupid, greedy cock-suckers who commercialized this beautiful game.

  4. Eduardo says:

You have to give credit to this guy, he does all that shit with just four fingers on his right hand..I’m joking, but for real,I really enjoy to see this guy playing, and it seems to me that he is trying hard to do his role better..

  5. shake&bake says:

he needs to be consistent, play defense, and have a good attitude. talent has never been the issue for him.

  6. dagwaller says:

You’re right, Haqq, Gerald Green doesn’t play because…”the NBA” (who? The players, the coaches, the owners…who are you even talking about?) is greedy? Internet is fucking stupid because people like you are allowed to post.

Anyway, he plays 12 minutes a game this year, so I don’t see why there should be any complaint. That’s “legit NBA clock” to me.

  7. Ashlov says:

    The Mavs need to:

    A) Rebuild.

    or

    B) Dirk needs to fly to Kansas, catch a twister to Oz, go see the Wizard, and get a heart.

  8. Arrogant says:

True Green isnt the best on defense but if guys like Redd can make a living why shouldnt gerald…. his game on the offensive end is always amazed me. him and jr smith.

  9. dagwaller says:

Ashlov, if only all of the Mavs “had no heart” and averaged 24 and 7. Then they might win more. As it is, they have Jason Terry (26 percent on 3? wtf) and the two headed monster at center (combine to get a gag inducing 5.6 ppg and 11 rpg).

No, you were right the first time. The problem isn’t with Dirk, Kidd, Josh Howard, Brandon Bass, or Gerald Green. It’s with their “center” and their “shooting guard” (I use the quotes because they have two guys that play center TERRIBLY and have Jason Terry playing SG when he’s actually one of the worst shooters on the team right now).

    @Ashlov
“Dirk needs to fly to Kansas, catch a twister to Oz, go see the Wizard, and get a heart.” That is hilarious!

    @Arrogant
    I agree.

  12. Lady Luck says:

You have to pay your dues and earn your time.

  13. Haqq says:

What I meant is hes not a flashy name, with event marketing you cant attract a market with a no name over someone like Josh Howard.

This is all money at the end, stats or no stats… wins or no wins…

  14. dagwaller says:

Haqq, that still doesn’t make any sense, because it’s not like Rick Carlisle is making substitutions decisions based on who the crowd wants to see. Otherwise, wouldn’t we see D’Antoni playing Marbury more?

There are dozens more examples around the League of that side of the coin; the flip side of that coin is that Antoine Wright used to play all of Gerald Green’s minutes. The casual NBA fan would, “Who’s that?” Wright even more so than they would Green. Furthermore, Green has been in a dunk contest, so he’s more flashy than someone like Wright.

  15. Haqq says:

Valid point. Well I’m a huge conspiracy freak and I still think of whats going on behind the scenes… behind managers/coaches more through the eyes of David Stern, ABC, ESPN, TNT, and even NBA TV.

I think the whole Iverson trade to Detroit was sparked from the lack of interest Iverson started to appeal from Denver fans, after the poor season they had. And still I understand maybe Denver needed Billups over Iverson… But dont you think money was a factor in this trade too?

  16. dagwaller says:

Meh. I would love to believe in conspiracies, but sometimes, they’re just not there.

Of course money was a factor in the Billups and Iverson trade. When the front office makes moves, money’s always a factor. Coaches are generally separate from those decisions though. Unless Isiah Thomas is involved, haha.

  17. Mark says:

From what I’ve heard, DJ GO GO GOMEZ got it. Political reasons, no matter how unfair, are sufficient to prevent breakthrough opportunities from becoming available to anybody. Gerald Green not withstanding.

But for the record, let the kid play. Mavs need something to revitalize their rather stagnant roster.

  19. QQ says:

Because he can’t freaking play WITHIN A SYSTEM. And NBA teams are built just like that; each of them has a system. In HS, this kid can jump over anybody because he’s so athletic. He’s bigger, stronger, more talented than almost everybody he played against.

The NBA is a different story. Playing in a system takes dedication, focus and work ethic. You know why an asshole like Bruce Bowen, who can’t run, doesn’t have tremendous leaping ability and has only one fucking shot in his arsenal (the corner 3) remains a consistent starter for a team who won 4 titles in 7 years? BECAUSE HE CAN FREAKING PLAY WITHIN A SYSTEM.

  20. The Jed says:

Have you ever seen Green dribble? Awful.

  21. Ree says:

Green also jacks up a lot of shots. Seems like 1 FGA per minute.

  22. Ree says:

    @Ashlov
“Dirk needs to fly to Kansas, catch a twister to Oz, go see the Wizard, and get a heart.”

LOL. But really, just because a PF shoots for a living instead of bullying people with power like Stoudemire, doesn’t mean he doesn’t have heart. He busts his ass out there

  23. Bron42 AkA Your Moms Best Friend says:

umm getting 24 and 7 doesnt actually mean U have heart..specially when the majority of your points are just straight from jacking shots and never having to even be touched. Just ask vince carter.

  24. dagwaller says:

Bron, as usual, you miss the point. While Dirk does have loads of heart, my point was that even if he DIDN’T, it’s still better to be a heartless 24 and 7 player than a 7 footer that averages 2 and 5, as both of his centers do. Seriously, why doesn’t anyone question Erick Dampier’s heart? Hm? I wonder if there could be some factor that explains why some people just don’t like Dirk…
