Bron, as usual, you miss the point. While Dirk does have loads of heart, my point was that even if he DIDN’T, it’s still better to be a heartless 24 and 7 player than a 7 footer that averages 2 and 5, as both of his centers do. Seriously, why doesn’t anyone question Erick Dampier’s heart? Hm? I wonder if there could be some factor that explains why some people just don’t like Dirk…

Because he can’t freaking play WITHIN A SYSTEM. And NBA teams are built just like that; each of them has a system. In HS, this kid can jump over anybody because he’s so athletic. He’s bigger, stronger, more talented than almost everybody he played against.

The NBA is a different story. Playing in a system takes dedication, focus and work ethic. You know why an asshole like Bruce Bowen, who can’t run, doesn’t have tremendous leaping ability and has only one fucking shot in his arsenal (the corner 3) remains a consistent starter for a team who won 4 titles in 7 years? BECAUSE HE CAN FREAKING PLAY WITHIN A SYSTEM.

From what I’ve heard, DJ GO GO GOMEZ got it. Political reasons, no matter how unfair, are sufficient to prevent breakthrough opportunities from becoming available to anybody. Gerald Green not withstanding.

But for the record, let the kid play. Mavs need something to revitalize their rather stagnant roster.

Meh. I would love to believe in conspiracies, but sometimes, they’re just not there.

Of course money was a factor in the Billups and Iverson trade. When the front office makes moves, money’s always a factor. Coaches are generally separate from those decisions though. Unless Isiah Thomas is involved, haha.

Valid point. Well I’m a huge conspiracy freak and I still think of whats going on behind the scenes… behind managers/coaches more through the eyes of David Stern, ABC, ESPN, TNT, and even NBA TV.

I think the whole Iverson trade to Detroit was sparked from the lack of interest Iverson started to appeal from Denver fans, after the poor season they had. And still I understand maybe Denver needed Billups over Iverson… But dont you think money was a factor in this trade too?
