NBA Dimes: Loren
We hit you with the first installment of our new NBA Dimes feature yesterday, a ridiculously beautiful member of the Miami HEAT Dancers, Luanna. Today we’re headed over to the Western Conference to a member of the Dallas Mavericks Dance Team, Loren.
Name: Loren
Age: 22
College: Austin College in Sherman, Texas. I was a psychology major with a minor in English.
What’s your favorite type of dance?: I’ve been dancing since the age of 3 – I was classically trained. I’ve done every type of dance from ballet, tap, jazz, modern, clogging, hip-hop, cheerleading, tumbling, gymnastics – the whole shebang! I’d say my favorite is modern, but I also really enjoy the Mavericks’ style of dancing, which is high energy hip-hop. It gets in your body and makes you happy!
What’s your favorite type of music?: I listen to a lot of hip-hop, but I also love country and Christian. I love Carrie Underwood.
What do you do when you’re not dancing?: I work for an apparel company called “In Your Face” apparel out of Dallas. I’m a sales rep, and I travel to different trade shows around the U.S.
What’s your favorite routine on the court?: It’s our intro when the players are first introduced and all the lights go dim on the court. All of the dancers are on the logo on the center of the court. It’s the most energy, almost like an out-of-body experience.
What’s it like behind the scenes of a calendar shoot?: We shot the calendar in Las Vegas – taking a team of 21 girls to Vegas, it was quite an experience. We had so much fun. We crammed so many different location shots into the three days that we were there. We had some shot at a topless pool, Bear Pool. Some were at the Treasure Island pool in front of their pirate ship.
Who is your favorite player on the team this year?: I’m a big fan of Dirk, the German Machine!
What do you think the Mavericks will do this year?: I know that people say it every year, but I’m confident that we’re going to win it all!
