NBA Match Game, Thanksgiving
Chris Paul (photo. Zach Wolfe)Three matchups to watch on the Turkey Day schedule…
Orlando @ Washington: Dwight Howard vs. JaVale McGee
On multiple occasions, the rookie McGee has been compared athletically to Howard. While the two 7-footers are built differently — Dwight could bench-press JaVale if he wanted, and real talk, he’s probably gonna hang a big number on the kid tonight — they are both freaks of nature. JaVale’s length and quickness make him a threat to block a shot from literally anywhere on the floor, and he’s been getting better every day since taking over the job as the Wizards’ starting center. Interim coach Ed Tapscott wants to focus on defense, and McGee is an integral part of that movement. If nothing else, this will be a learning experience.

New Orleans @ Denver: Chris Paul vs. Chauncey Billups
Who would have predicted that, one month into the season, Chauncey would be getting more MVP talk than CP? It’s not the numbers — Chauncey’s still putting up that numbingly consistent 17-point, 7-assist line he always does — but the Nuggets have compiled one of the best records in the League since the trade, and credit goes mostly to Billups’ ability to get all their ducks in order and run the show like a true floor general. He has struggled with his shot, like when he went 2-for-10 against the Clippers last night, and few PG’s are gonna harass him defensively like Paul (20.5 ppg, 12.2 apg, 2.9 apg).

Thanksgiving: Eddy Curry, Big Baby Davis & Sean May vs. The Table
You might want to add Mr. Noah to that list, too. A Thanksgiving spread plus The Munchies equals a destroyed turkey.
(In a perfect world, this would air on NBA TV.)
